Fantastic....I have never seen a Bradley wrestler be obnoxious to a fan. I have always found the Bradley fans extremely nice yet very supportive of their team. Steve, you are a class act along with your wrestlers. This comment was way off.

Just wondering if any coaches out there have had their team go through a struggling year? We have been building here at Smyrna for the last 5 years and it seems like this year, murphy's law has prevailed? Seasoned coaches out there...is this a normal thing? Coach Gonyea Smyrna High Wrestling

I have said this over and over again. If we truly want our sport to get noticed by more people in TN, then the venue of the state tourney needs to rotate. No one is impying that Chattanooga doesn't do a fantastic job...I love going. However, Chattanooga has the best fan base because they host the state tournament year in and year out. I also believe I heard someone saying that the Clarksville boys had the home field advantage at the duals because it was at their place. I was told last time I discussed this that there was no such thing as home field advantage in wrestling. Just make your boys wrestle anywhere. What about the expense to a program. Yes, I know we need to be responsible for raising money for our team, however, it would be nice to get a break once in a while and not have to spend so much money at the state tournament. We could use that extra money to travel out of state once in awhile. LET ME STATE, THERE IS NO WHINING IN THIS POST. just some things to think about. Come on people, be a little open minded here. Think about being in another team's shoes. Would you like to have to travel every year?

Not to say anything bad about Karns, but we only lost to them by 6 points at the Clarksville slamfest without a full line-up. We had 4 JV in our line-up and we had to forfeit 112. That is probably an indicator of why they aren't in the top 10. Just because you make it to the state duals doesn't make you a top 10 team.

Looks like the new region 8 next year will be an interesting one between Smyrna and Hendersonville. And no, I'm not excluding the other teams in region 8. These are the only two teams who are in region 8 that have responded to this post. Gonyea

What about Murphy Center at MTSU? I guarantee that there would be several coaches in the area that would help host this. We could easily fit 8 mats on the floor there. And there would be plenty of seating....plus, the way Murphy center is set up, no one would be allowed on the floor unless they were a coach or a wrestler. Eliminate people walking across and getting the way.

Would this be one large density test or would each individual student have to pay $10 for each test. I could see some revenue here.

Sorry, I guess I was just thinking he said Franklin was going to win. I honestly thought he said it would be a close one but Franklin would pull it out. If it's any consolation, my prediction was this: 1. Bradley 2. Franklin 3. Soddy 4. Clarksville. I honestly thought Bradley would pull this out due to sheer tradition, fighting and they have been there so often. It was a great state duals from what I heard. No one should feel bad about how they did this year. You are right, could have gone either way. Congrats to all four teams. Gonyea

to make the division mathematically correct, shouldn't we take the lowest high school attendance, the highest high school attendance add them together and divide by 3 to get the breakdowns. example School A has 350 students School B has 3200 Students 3200 + 350 = 3550 divided by 3 which gives you approximatley 1180 So: Small school would be 0-1180 Medium School would be 1181 - 2360 Large School would be 2360 - 3550 or above. These are all numbers I pulled out of the air. But you should get the concept. Or find the median number of students and distribute based on that. Just an idea

Why does this bother you so bad?

Smyrna will only lose 2 starters this year. We will return 12 of 14 and also pick up some middle school wrestlers who will make a major impact to the team. Provided we can keep everyone healthy next year.

I just hope someday he gets some Smyrna High State Championship in that Gut....

I think Kenny is so good this year he can afford to make a few mistakes and still dominate every match he wrestles at state. I watched him make a mistake or two during the Soddy tourney and he recovered quite well and won it in dominating fashion. Kenny is in great shape physically and mentally. He wants this bad, and no one will keep him from it. Coach Gonyea

Soms, Looks like you took a beating all this season for what you felt in your gut. Guess it wasn't indigestion. Congrats to the Franklin Rebels. Region V is proud of you.
