  1. The girls basketball program at East has had limited success until now, to say the least!

In twenty years the girls team has made the Region semis 3 times until this year. Last year's team could have made it to the state if not for MLK being upset in the district semis and ending up in the same bracket with East in the Region.

Funny, nobody complained about the magnet school that lost every game for two straight years....

These girls did a great job! They are talented and hard working and deserve all the credit!

The Levy girl is awesome! I didn't think she played as well as she could have (east girls had something to do with that) and she still ended up with 19. She is going to be great! I could see East and Upperman squaring off in the state tourney again next year! Great year for both teams!

  2. Terry Holt - 6'3" Senior, Guard East Nashville

    Awards:

    All District 10 AA

    All District Tournament 10 AA

    All Region Tournament  5 AA

    Tennessean All Mid-State

Above the Rim Invitational All Tournament

Terry has scored over 1,300 career points and will soon become the schools All-Time leading scorer. Terry has been to two State Tournaments and is averaging 19 ppg this year.

    Worth Considering! Thanks!

  3. I just wanted to say, the people of Cheatham County were very hospitable and gracious. Which, unfortunately, is not always the case across the state. It was a great atmosphere! Coach Dawson has done a great job of turning things around! The kids at Cheatham showed great class and character! I expect they will be strong again next year and welcome to the region!

  4. I can imagine a couple scenarios for leaving this late, the first one being the principal(s) that hired him were transfered so the things he needed like a staff and administrative support are now gone. Maybe Metro should consider the kids and the teachers when they play musical chairs with the principals. I know for a fact at least three metro high schools and middle schools that have changed over half their principals in these three buildings in the last two weeks. Not telling how many for have had a similar situation. Suppose the new admisnistration told Pitts he is on his own literally and MCHS called. Call it what you want but you are a fool if you do not take care of yourself and your family first.

I agree with you in part. Those factors should definitely be taken into account. The principal has not changed at Stratford. I would still be interested in hearing what really went down at Stratford.

  5. The paper said MC was happy to get a coach of character. I don't know what kind of character that is when he is hired to do a job and resigns the first week of practice. I know metro takes a lot of critiscm for not hiring from the outside at times but this is an example of what can happen with outsiders sometimes. Good luck MC.

  6. From the outside looking in; I saw CPA get beat in the state semis one year, lose to a good Wayne Co. Team in the sectionals the next year, the next year, they were reclassified because of the multiplier played up with one senior and a bunch of freshmen (excluding Z Mason). They naturally struggled.

  7. If that's the world you wish to live in, so be it.

    CoachF,

You are certainly wlecome and I am grateful for the opportunity as well. There has never been a lie told by me regarding my experience with the Eagles. If you ever review any post that I have made (which aren't many because unlike most of you, I have a better life than posting on a blog site with people who were has-beens or never-was'). When I initially posted, it was to defend the Eagles and you who got no respect last year. As soon as someone asks a question about the possibility of a repeat and I give my OPINION, it is met with allegations of lies.

If you are going to make references of things that transpired during a practice, then tell the whole truth. Tell the bloggers how your offense could never score against my defense or vice-versa in practice (which is probably why I was at the other end "shooting baskets" with another player) and why I didn't have any direct input due to my ability. Tell them of the one-on-one time that I spent with the players working on their individual games and their mental toughness. Tell how an athletic banquet took place and you didn't even notify me, yet, people that were not even affiliated with the team was notified and you gave me my Asst. Coach of the Year plaque that was placed in your desk 4 weeks later. Tell how the team was gonna wal out on you and I encouraged them to stay and represent themselves, you, and the school.

I never made a personal attack on you. You took offense when the obvious was stated. I hurt for the boys because I know how much they wanted and deserved the championship. I still have one more left that I will continue to support next year. In closing, thanks for the memories. It was a great ride. Good luck in all of your future coaching endeavors.

  8. You know Sherrif you guys have a heckuva team and well you should. Don't knock the quality of basketball at these midstate schools.

    Good luck to McEwen!

Glad to see Petrone is done too. There is some justice in the world.

  9. After growing up in New York City and becoming the states only 4 time Mr. Basketball selection as well as leading my high school team to 4 state championships. I went on to become Duke University's onle 4 time All-American. After that, I was drafted number 1 overall by the Boston Celtics and then.......

I know, stop. I am full of crap. I am a liar. Before any of you chastise me for wasting you time and printing wall to wall lies on here, none of that happened. Those of you that know me, know that I don't make things up and I don't lie. Whether you agree or disagree with me on an issue, you know that.

I have just grown weary and have become fed up with a former "assistant" coach getting on here and spewing lie after lie. The last practice we had was at Belmont before the Bolivar game, my "assistant" coach was on the opposite end of the floor on the side court shooting baskets while we were practicing. He was not the worst assistant coach that I have ever had, but he does live in a fantasy world. He was in no way responsible for what we accomplished last year, the kids were!

To all of the coaches that have helped me over the years, Thank You!

  10. It sounds like your trying to say that the new coach will be able to bring in some quality teachers/coaches into the building . If this is true, great. Track programs, Wrestling and Basketball have done well at East Lit lately. Good luck in the search.

Thanks coach! Do you ever look to get back to coaching football? The last time I saw you, I thought you said you might be done for a while.

  11. Word i hear is that East Lit. won't bring in any help for whoever gets the Head Coaching job. CR has talent. I don't know the Prinicipal at CR so I can't say if they are committed to winning or not. I do know that Antioch's administration would be the best group to work for in metro imo. btw, there is nothing wrong doing what your doing and where you are doing it. You are making a difference in many kids' lives.

Word is wrong. I have laid low on a lot of topics and posts but you guys know that I support this school and this football team. There is a lot more support for football at East than many of you are lead to believe. I also expect with the changing evaluation process there will be a lot of transition with teaching spots. Last year, we lost 7 teaching positions. I don't think that will happen this year, so that can help with staff as well. It is a good situation with one down side, no on campus stadium. I can guarantee this though, the rest of the school staff jump in an lend a hand to make the home games run smoothly!

  12. Well, we missed three free throws, so we should have scored 16 points. Coach Spencer and the White House team did a great job last night! They have a good team and good teams do whatever it takes to put themselves in a position to win. It was not the type of game I wanted to play but those are the breaks. Our kids did a great job playing the hand they were dealt.
