  1. This was a great win for East Lit. It was actually the first time that our girls have beaten Hume Fogg. When we started getting some better players but moved down to Single A Hume Fogg's girls would not play us. Now all of the games are competitive. It actually makes it a rivallry.

  2. sorry i thought i looked at it and both boys and girls won handidly guess it was just the guys then...i will be there tonight as soon as my FLORIDA STATE game is over

It was the guys. They kicked our butts. I know they are young. I think they have some promise for this year and the future.

  3. I found out we play tonight at 7 and the boys play after that our girls beat East LIt last night Hasslip had 33 points and i forget the score but it was pretty handidly so i will let you know what we do tonight with a luttle report

It was eight points. I don't think that would qualify as handily. The game was awful to watch! There were 50 fouls called in the game. Haislip is a player. Her outside shot needs to get some consistency. When it does, look out!

  4. I like CA to win this district. I don't necessarily disagree with the last predictions, but I find it hard to believe that a Charlie Anderson coached team will com in last. I know what your thinking. NCS lost everybody. They did but the same could be said for them four years ago when Caden and those guys were freshmen.

  5. East Lit will probably have their best team in school history for what that's worth. The key to the season will be how well they handle their non district schedule. This team has arguably the most tallent they have ever had. However, this team has the hardest schedule in school history X2. This team should make the region. They definitely believe in themselves after last year's run. After that it is anybody's guess.

I think this year the first place team will have at least four losses. The league will have much more parity than last year. Hume-Fogg will be good this year as will Pearl Cohn. I give the edge to Hume-Fogg. Lipscomb will always be Lipscomb. They might be better if they don't have to rely on one player to do everything this year. Ezell, CPA and FRA will be able to compete with what they have based on coaching and having a system. MLK is where East lit used to be. They are looking for that one win that will get them over the (winning) hump and give them some confidence.

The comments about streetball and the refs taking control are blown out of proportion. All teams have to adjust to the way officials call the game. If the officiating crew is weak a game can become rough, physical or even Helter Skelter in pace. The kids in the metro schools can get out of control sometimes, so can the kids at other schools. I have seen some of the plays that have been criticised in the past and most of them are nothing more than kids playing hard.

This will be an entertaining year in 9AA. Good luck to everyone

  6. Could someone tell me in terms of scheduling what would be important for a team to secure a wildcard birth (i.e. wins vs same class, wins vs anyone)? We will be 3A in football next year. I'm just a lowly basketball coach and I don't quite understand what will factor in to making the playoffs if you are not an automatic qualifier.

  7. I just wanted to give my thoughts on the game.

First, congratulations to the Indians. It was a well played and clean game. We don't always see or hear what goes on down on the field. I have already heard from some of the kids about the quality of play.

Second, the people of Sequatchie were all extremely hospitapal. Thanks to everyone there. I guess it was good that you had two ambulances available. We needed them both. Both of the kids appear to be okay. They will be reevaluated this week.

Third, Your facilities were tremendous. Not only was the quality of your facilities top notch, but your schools location was scenic and a perfect setting for high school football.

Fourth, the game. I felt good about our opening drive. After that, things became a struggle. We couldn't get off the field and when we did we would make an offensive mistake. We are an example of an inner-city school starting up football and experiencing growing pains. You guys are an example of a rural area in which football means everything and have just had a down stretch. I think you have a good young coach and are moving towards a good run. We will continue to make positive strides this year and look forward to being in the mix next year with a full varsity schedule.

Good luck to Sequatchie the rest of the year and in the future. Thanks again for the hospitality.

  8. I agree with you about Dillard and Smith, they are both very good players. The diference in those guys and Albright is that they both have better teams to play on than Albright does. I will keep up with the district this year and see how everyone does.

  9. Where is he going then? What is his zoned school.

I think he is zoned for Stratford. He was one of several students that lost their spot at our school. Before you ask, no he will not be eligible to wrestle at his zone school or any other metro school.
