  1. and that is a Valid Opinion. However: That opinion is keeping an entire group of people (and even More importantly for our sport, a potentially LARGE source of Revenue) out of this sport that we love so much. a Variation of that opinion is also what kept Black people out of Baseball for 100 Years. Think about the conversations if THAT was the case with us.
  2. see....that's where I think there's a Whole Sport full of Little sisters, Managers, and girlfriends that have fallen in love with Wrestling, and they can't even pursue it because they would have to wrestle Guys. as Soon as the opportunity arose, I think we'd be Amazed by the numbers.
  3. instead of just downing the enitre concept (and anyone that does that has probably never seen a high-level girls' match--ask Louise Davis if they didn't make a beleiver out of her) why don't we look for solutions? We also have to think about this; how many more girls might become interested in the sport and also be ALLOWED to compete if it were Girls vs girls, like it should be? Texas, a few years ago, had what amounted to an Officials Strike. They REFUSED to call a match between a male amd female, and in doing so, got a seperate division started, which is now Thriving and popular in Texas. But the Rule is there on the UIL (sp?) books..... "NO male shall wrestle a female in competition, and Vice-Versa."
  4. Baker, if he has his head on straight. that one, I think, comes down to who makes Fewer mistakes. No offense to Baker, Coach, but both kids can be sloppy, from what I've seen of them. Baker always seems to be in Good shape, though, so I'll give the nod to him.
  5. High School kids from TN....usually about 5'10 to 6'2...usually kinda bigger kids......ah, let's see. Lot of Football players in that one..... Just SHOW UP AND WRESTLE!!!!!!
  6. Kevin Ward-Ok State Darren McKnight-Michigan St Matt McCarty--Michigan St Matt Keller--Nebraska
  7. Jay Leno Kevin James (king of Queens) Ray Lewis Robin Williams Silas Gaither (survivor Africa)-- GTown Houston HS's Own!!! Vince McMahon Somebody (think it was Louise on Tennwrestling.com) had a COMPLETE list of Celebs.....I'll go look and post again later
  8. Go look at the "best HWT Ever" thread....Crosby's discussed.
  9. Don't get me wrong, I'm not against the Idea at all; on the contrary, I think Ronnie is missing the boat by not doing this......it would be a HUGE money draw. the only drawback is that there are kids on BOTH sides of the split that would have Nothing to gain and everything to lose by participating; see whoever won 135 D-1 in 2001 vs. Phillip Simpson. nonetheless, I think Something should be done. Shouldn't this be in a different thread?
  10. I believe that constitutes an "all-star" match, prohibited by TSSAA. that one's been brought up before.
  11. I'd rather it be a Full 32-man double elimination, but I understand the Time constraints on that. and, as far as the tourneys being Watered down; the Cream Always rises to the Top, and you Cannot hold down Talent.
  12. Wow......WHAT a positive influence in this Sport we love so much....I don't Like YOUR alphabet letters....so I'm gonna Poop on them --Nyah Nyah-- WHAT a way to encourage kids to get ALL the competition they can.
  13. As for me, I want to be there for opening nite. How about encouraging Bradly and McCallie doing a dual warm up before the main event? Or at least maybe Connell and Lodgson go 1-2-2? Talk about a money maker. The winner gets to decide whether the split stays in tact....wow, I am really losing it here. reftn EXCELLENT Idea........on the Dual meet, that is. and Don't underestimate UTC Students ( or Knoxville or Tech, for that matter) Get a National Level Program and Promote it, and Not only will you Bring ALL the former Wrestlers that will support it, you'll draw a few other Fans as well.....(think UTC's Run to the Sweet 16 in 97, to a lesser extent)

gotta say I can agree with this one....I've been on my back for a Minute forty-five before, and lived to tell about it and finish the match.

Ok, Luchador (or anyone else who has actually had experience and a Say in the matter) let's say Brewster ekes it out against Keller that year. did the Plaque already have his name on it until the upset? be honest.....

see, I thought Keller should STILL have been OW for that very same reason. if I'm not Terribly mistaken, Yost was in trouble (although very briefly) in one prelim match, I think 2nd round. like I said, it was only for a moment, but it was enough to attract attention, and was therefore noticable. Keller, on the other hand, Dominated. I don't believe he gave up a point (Please correct me if I'm wrong.) Keller also had Much better competition in the finals. and "lifetime achievement award" or not....I think being a 4-time champ should count for something.

well, D2's already engraved: Raymond Dunning, Father Ryan. D1: Smart money's on either Daniel Crosby, or Quinn Gibson. let the speculation begin. Why are we talking about this now? now's more the time to talk Teams.
  18. Ok....I'm found out....now admit that you're Jose. and that I wasn't Stalling. LOL I tried Exceptionally hard to get Kristi into Freestyle, on the basis that that would be the Only way she'd have a chance to be an Olympian, but it was no go. she just Never Got "into" freestyle the way some others do. talked to her the other day ( when I found out she'd made Asics All American again) and she's enjoying Being Graduated and getting ready to go to Knoxville. Still the best female ever to take the Mat in Tennessee....and Will be, maybe for a LONG time. Anyway....Isn't this thread about Keller?? anybody got any new word on him? as in, will he get the chance to start at Nebraska, or will he Redshirt? and HOW did he get PINNED?? I'm surprised that Nobody brought that up. it's a SCARY individual that can pin Keller....I'd like to hear the details.
  19. Aaron Cothran will wrestle for Franklin this year, since Fairview doesn't have a team anymore. Come on, people.....this post didn't even have correct information in it and it got a Good Mark!!! What does a Normal person that doesn't "know anybody" have to do to get a Freaking Good mark around here?
  20. This one is for some of the older guys on here that actually got to see these Eras..... What's Different about today's wrestling as opposed to 20-30 years ago? as in...how is the technique and general "size" of the kids different.....how is the sportsmanship different....the coaching.....you get the Idea. one thing I'm looking for is whether or not you think the Average team from today....(think Kenwood or maybe Knox halls, Cookeville.....that caliber) could beat the average team from yesteryear. I AM NOT (repeat:NOT) interested in anything to do with Public/private, simply because I graduated in 97, thus wrestling my Whole Career under the Old system, and from then to now.....well, with a few Notable kids that are exceptions, I don't see THAT much of a difference in only 5 years time. so, Old-timers, Talk to us. tell us about the Good Old days..... 21. Ah HA!!!! I KNEW I wasn't wrong about that, I thought he was only a Junior last year.....And like I said before, THAT makes it VERY interesting as to how/why Cody's going to McCallie..... of course, if Hunter's going too, then the question takes care of itself. Just Stirring up trouble......
  22. McCallie's Academic reputation is NOT in doubt. the fact of the matter is that both Cody and his older Brother ( who may have been a senior last year.....if not; What about Hunter??) went to Tullahoma last year. Maybe the Cleveland's won the lottery...I dunno. but the Question will be "Why didn't he go there from jump, and why didn't his Folks send his brother there?" Hey....if I'd had the opportunity and the Money, I'd have gone to McCallie even while they were under the Death penalty...the Education and Prestige would be Invaluable to College Admission boards.
  23. I think that would be a BIG "IF".....if I were a principal, I'm not sure I could do that in good conscience.....KNOWING that it's most likely an Athletic Reason. but, ya never know.....
  24. WOW........that's a BombShell. Lightweights in Public Schools everywhere shall dance in the streets....LOL
  25. Indeed.....that is a TOUGH tourney to place in. However, (and I know I'll catch ALL kinds of Heat for saying this) with the Talent we took to Fargo...Tennessee Should have Done more.
