  1. Lookout Valley has historically been a baseball school so that's not saying much

They were considered the "best" Class A team in Chattanooga last year having won a school record 25+ games. My point is that a young and inexperienced CSAS team developed enough during last year to play well until they played FCS. If memory serves me correct FCS had a similiar experience to the experience CSAS had last year when they visited CSAS the year before for a substate loss....and the experience certainly helped them. Say what you want about the Patriots but to underestimate this team would be a huge mistake.

  2.

After seeing the 2 teams from the chattanooga region that went to substate, i dont think either of them will be in state this coming year. CSAS is young and inexperienced. Grace Baptist seemed to be a 1 man team with only 1 or 2 others to help out on off nights. Wouldn't be surprised to see either Lookout Valley slide into state. I'd be shocked to see 2 teams from Region 4 to make it into state this year so whoever can pull out the Region 3 championship should get a ticket to the glass house this year.

CSAS was young and inexperienced last year having lost 90+% of their offense, defense and experienced players from back to back state tournaments but still beat the best Lookout Valley team they had seen in years to make it to the substate. The Patriots lost only one consistently significant player. Overlooking them will be a mistake.....but go ahead. See you in March!

  3. Thought it might be interesting to look back almost a month to the final Associated Press poll for the 2011 season. Hampton, Middleton, CSAS, and Clouldland are the only teams left standing.

  4. Clarksville Academy got upset tonight. I said earlier this season that CSAS would not have a district, region or sectional game closer than 20 points this season. They have a good shot to win it all.

When CSAS is focused on DEFENSE (which it has been almost every game this year) they are tough to beat. They were focused for the second half.....imagine if it had been four quarters!?! Something for them to continue to work on and get better before next week!

  5. I am glad CSAS is so confident in an easy victory.. cause it sounds eerily similar to what FCS players had said before the region championship game.. and as to the comment about your gym rocking like no other, you have obviously not seen the fc fans! unfortunately due to conflicting sporting events many of the student section will not be able to attend the game but you can count on the players being 100% focused guaranteed

Don't know who has said CSAS is confident of an easy victory.........the players and coaches know this game will take their best effort to move on to the next game. Third Street is a tough place to play in this type of game, as I am sure would be the same at your gym. The Patriots will be focused on the job at hand!

  6. I believe if FCS plays the way they did tuesday night when they demolished Clarkrange 51 to 27 they have a very good chance to not only play with CSAS but a very good chance to beat them.. what do you think?

The only thing that Clarkrange has in common with CSAS is that both their names contain a "C"!

  7. Van Buren could probably handle Silverdale. I think Grace or Temple could eat their lunch.

Well it looks like if Van Buren wins the District 6-A Tournament they would face Temple in round one and probably Grace in round two (assuming Grace beats Signal Mtn.).

  8. District 5-A Tournament is now in the books as CSAS defeated Grace Saturday night and Silverdale edged Temple. Who do you think will match up in the first round of the region with each of these teams? What are the chances for the teams from 6-A? I think 5-A is looking pretty strong.

  9. Yeah, basketball is way down on the totem pole in South Pittsburg. Football's on top (way on top), then boy's basketball is about a foot from the bottom, with everything else (girl's bball, jr. high bball, baseball, softball, volleyball, and track) under that. I love bball and I just wish we had more people interested in it....including coaches, players, cheerleaders, and fans. The attendance of all the bball games this year doesn't equal one football game attendance. That's a shame. It's hard to ask the players to give 100% when the town only gives 10%. There were no cheerleaders and maybe 20 fans supporting South Pittsburg at the 6A tourny this weekend. And no cheerleaders at the Jr. High's TNT state semifinal Friday, and the only fans were immediate family. All the other teams had cheerleaders and stands of fans. This was the equivalent of a state championship for those boys and there was an entourage of maybe 30 people. Pitiful.

Anyway, has anyone heard who won the TNT tournament? Oh, and the District 6A boys' game will be Tues.

South Pitt will also be playing either CSAS or Grace next Saturday in the Region Quarter Final.

  10. I don't know the rule, but this doesn't sound like a correct interpretation of the rule. Once the game is ended, I don't see how an official can call a technical foul. I suppose it wouldn't be the first time the rules didn't make sense though.

A few years back when they were emphasizing the uniform jersey rule (not taking it off until you get to the locker room) it was stated that a ref could give a tech if you took your jersey off even after the game horn sounded and if the outcome of the game changed.....oh well.

  11. Yes, I was more referring to who will play opposite CSAS in the region final as they are the prohibitive favorite, but I would caution counting your chickens before they hatch! Crazy things happen in tournament play. As for this side my prediction would be: jackson, rbs, clay, fcs. And I do not know who is playing and not playing right now this week. The weather is crazy!

Don't worry I don't count anything until it happens. I was at the Jackson County game when we "laid an egg". People keep saying Grace is going to be there at the end and they might be right. Signal hosts the region. There may be a team or two that surprise.

  12. Yes, it was a close game, but my point was that Watertown is rebuilding. They are a middle of the pack team over here in our district and not one of the favorites to advance from our region (that would be jackson, fcs, rbs, and clay). After watching the game I'm just hoping there is another strong team to complement CSAS from your region. If your boys at Signal are coming together as you say and are a contender I can't imagine Van Buren putting up much resistance. Who else might contend besides Signal and CSAS over there? Grace? Anyone else - or is it just a 3 team race?

I don't think it is a three team race, unless you are talking about who finishes behind CSAS. There might be 4 or 5 teams that make it to the region finals opposite CSAS. Who do you think is the best from your region? How would you rank the 4 teams you mentioned. Is that how you think it will end up? Are RBS and Clay still playing this Friday?

  13. So how did Watertown look in this game. I looked at Van Buren's schedule and it shows this game as a 2 point lose. I haven't seen Van Buren play but from your post I was expecting to see the game was a blowout.

I will say Signal continues to improve now that their football players are getting their basketball legs.

So what are the chances that Signal Mtn. will make it to the Region Championship? I know the game will be played at Signal. How has your support been this year? Who has come from football that is expected to be a difference maker?

  14. I don't how everyone is over on that side of the district and region, but you better hope someone like Signal is good enough to represent the region with CSAS. Our side knows that whoever gets CSAS in the substate has their work cut out for them, but if someone like Van Buren is representing you then it will get ugly. I saw them against watertown and they looked - well let's just say they left much to be desired. They were not impressive at all. So I hope for your region's sake that Signal is far and away the next best team behind CSAS because I think we would all prefer to see competitive contests.

CSAS would be the favorite whether at home or on the road in a substate game. How other teams from 3-A perform is still up in the air. Grace, Signal Mtn., maybe someone else will end up getting good enough to compete.

  15. Im not a big bball guy, but from what i hear around Chattanooga area is csas is a really good team. Why are they not in the top ten? and i agree this ap stuff is awful. all sports

Who voted? Anybody from E. TN? I do not see a team listed in the top ten that CSAS could not beat. They have beat every A team they have played. They beat Brainerd, Howard, Mc Minn Central, Mc Callie. They have all their players back from last year as a Final Four team from the State Tourney last year. In addition they now have the added incentive of not being ranked in the state. Can't get much better than that!!!
