  1. It's pretty easy to look ...PLAIN NASTY and MEAN, when you're playing WEAK TEAMS (as stated

by Gary Bertier), I'm gonna go out on a limb and say that it will not be so easy come the

    second and third round.

Go ahead and pound your chest and rack up big Pts and Yrds on the cup cakes, but dont

be confused, the Big Dog is still King around here and he's wearing PURPLE.

I'll be sure to tune up my ole banjo...that way I can jump right in when Camden

starts singing an old favorite called "the Third Round Blues."

Update on Camden basketball----practice starts after the third round.

    PRACTICE....YOU TALKING ABOUT PRACTICE

Yeah, and one of those "weak" teams Camden beat, beat your A## just so we're clear...

And now back to Cheatham Co and a discussion that really matters :thumb:

  2. I'm doing the radio broadcast/internet webcast for this week's game. Could anyone help me out in terms of providing a lineup and/or season stats. I usually use the Tennessean as a source for other teams but with Camden Central I had to use the Jackson Sun and did not find much there.

Look at camdenlions.com. Go under football for the roster and look under past news, the stats are at the end of every game story.

  3. Bulldog69 is Not a Milan fan..Middle TN to the core.

True, bulldog 69 is a Page/Williamson Co poster who took exception when a Camden poster wandered over to the Fairview/Giles Co thread and spouted off about Fairview for whatever reason. Just a little payback folks...nothing to get excited about. Don't blame Milan for this one.

  4. Good game to the Camden Lions. You guys have a really good team. Your offense is one of the best I've seen in a while. Having said that though, if you are going to make it very far in playoffs, you're going to have to do something about the pass defense. Waverly misfired on several balls that would have made this game a lot more interesting. Grant it, the defense put some pressure on the qb but there will be teams in the future who will be as big and strong and if they have a passing game, it will spell trouble unless you shore up that defense. Anyway, I know I'll catch grief from this but just pointing out the obvious. We couldn't have beaten you tonight unless we had a perfect performance and you guys will make it a long ways. But make the district proud by shoring up that defense and win it all. Good luck the rest of the way.

By the way, you are by far the best team we've seen all year. No one even close.

No reason to catch grief papaT for this one because you're right. But having said that you don't give Hale enough credit...kid is an athlete and escaped pressure many others couldn't. Good luck to Wavo the rest of the way.

  5. after the way Central's secondary was slashed for yards this week it looks like a long friday night for central. Boy were they torched Friday night. I bet that Stewart County's QB's arm will probably fall off after Friday night for as many times as he will probably throw the ball. LONG NIGHT FOR CENTRAL!!!!!!!!!!! Their secondary can't cover anyone. Will be lucky to find the field or who to line up on.

You must have missed the Camden/Stewart Co game earlier this season. Some interesting stats for you:

    Camden VS MCHS

    Passing yards allowed...136

    Rushing yards allowed...229

    Camden VS Stewart Co.

    Passing yards allowed...126

    Rushing yards allowed...270

Looks pretty similar to me except of course that Stewart Co allowed more total yards.

Nothing about those stats would make me feel in any way superior if I were a Rebel.

  6. I hope Waverly goes there and shuts you Camden fans up this week. We would have beat yall if our coach would have been there! Its all good though because we gonna see yall in the playoffs in a few weeks. Go Rebels

The Rebels wouldn't have won if Coach Holliday and an army of his clones were on the sideline. I bet the football team loves it when guys talk smack on a message board and they can't back it up.

  7. Are you sure about high school coach coaching a fall independent team or practicing one?

A high school coach cannot coach a travel team during the school year that has 5 or more players from his/her high school team on it.

  8. I have to think this one gets ugly...FAST. Too many weapons in Camden's holster for Waverly to have much of a shot. But...it is a rivalry game and it is at Tiger Stadium (although I expect to see more Black and Gold than Blue and White in the home stands)

    Still gotta go with...

    Camden 45

    Wavo 6...maybe

  9. Camden takes care of business on Homecoming night with a final score of Lions 39-0 over the Indians of Montgomery Central.

Glad to see a 4 quarter game put together by Camden. Gotta love the passing game that's developing for the Lions and so many weapons to choose from...looking good :thumb:

Hope for a fast recovery for one of Camden's youngsters #69 who was injured tonight.

  10. Lions4ever......Camden, Westview and Milan are all fairly close. Camden and Westview

were picked to be the teams to beat in WTN and everyone thought Milan was a year away

with all the young players. But, "not so fast my friend", our Soph. QB is gonna be

D-1 in a few years, at 6'2" 210 lbs he's got a cannon arm and getting better by the day.

Our Soph. RB who plays alot of snaps will be a great one also. We also have a D-line,

with UK signee Coleman leading the way, that is very tough to run through or around.

Milan has zero pressure and with our coaching staff and some older players at the right

spots, we will indeed be tough to beat by the end of the year.

If the young PURPLE PACK rolls into Camden and lays down a beating, that my friend

will be a tough pill to swallow. The Camden team will feel the pressure of the whole

town, funny how pressure has away of getting to ya....some teams thrive on it, and some

teams never get past the 3rd RD.

Hope to see you in Camden.

P.S. You guys are not still running the Wing-T are ya? It didn't work so well last time.

:roflol: Talking smack so early. We both gotta get there first before we worry about playing each other. Ya know, I'm sure the Dawgs are getting better every week, but did you really think that the Lions are at a standstill and are as good as they're gonna get? You really are a funny dude...seriously :bored:

  11. Right now I would say

    1.) Alcoa

    2.) CAK

Who else do you speak of is my question to you sir?????

    This Camden fan agrees...

    1) Alcoa

    2) CAK

    3) Goodpasture

    4) Camden/Loudon

Oh how we've missed your Milan trolling swingjuice. I guess you're far enough out from that Westview loss that you feel its safe enough to troll again huh? Milan will have to get through Westview and Camden first before any of us have to worry about anyone else. Save it 'til about week 9 or so...your schtick plays better then.

  12. Ok. I get it. Camden is a team who should go far this year. I don't think its too far-fetched to say that they better not overlook a well coached, well disciplined Central football team. True, they may not have the athletes that Camden has, but you forget that this time last year (going into halftime), Central was beating Camden 7-6. I'm not down playing Camden by any means, but I do think they will have to play their starters the whole time if they(Camden) want to win. Central will have to play mistake free football the entire night and force turnovers on defense. Offensively, they'll need to also be on their A-game (which it has improved over the past several games). Let's bring it home BIG RED!!!!

Pride 36 is a Stewart Co. poster so take that comment for what it's worth. No true Camden fan is overlooking MC, and especially not the Lion coaches and players. I'm hoping for a good, hard-hitting, injury free game myself. Have a safe trip and see ya Friday night. :thumb:

  13. I'm looking for this to be a competitive game. Montgomery Central has improved alot with new coaching and a new scheme that doesn't require huge lineman. Seems like everyone is giving Camden their very best shot week-in, week-out this season and I don't expect this week to be any different.

The big question is can Camden play a cleaner, more effective game than they have in previous weeks? Camden is a big-play team and big-play teams scare the crap outta me. Find a team with comparable strength and speed who can shut down the big play and you're in a world of hurt. This week I'm looking for Camden to limit the mental mistakes and have some sustained, clock-eating drives without shooting themselves in the foot with dumb penalties. Also, can the Lions stay focused during Homecoming week? Stay tuned...

  14. Has anyone considered that huntingdon has make changes since first of season and made alot of improvement. i dont think we would beat camden this year if we played them five times, but we have improved alot. consider the fact that we could have posed some problems for camden instead of blaming the camden team. good luck to camden, hope you go deep.somebody tell ole gray headed lumpkin over there to behave.

No one is taking credit away from Huntingdon...from everything I've read and certainly from the jamboree it's obvious that the Mustangs have improved week to week. But those of us who have watched Camden the past 2 seasons have seen their potential and know there is another level this team is capable of reaching regardless of opponent. The Lions have yet to play a full 4 quarter game with intensity and minimal mental mistakes. Hopefully they get to that point before the playoffs roll around.

Good luck to the Stangs for the rest of the season.

  15. Good win for the Lions but they've got a lot of work to do if they are going to have shot at reaching the lofty goals they have set for themselves at the beginning of the season. Come on boys, not alot of time left to get things cleaned up before the playoffs. Focus and execution are the keys the next several weeks. :thumb:

  16.

L4E - I hear the Lions are the real deal this year. I hope we get a chance to see each other down the road. :thumb:

The Lions are looking pretty good this year for sure, but they lack size (except for our kicker who might be the tallest kicker in the state  ). This may be the fastest team Camden has ever had at every position and what Camden teams generally do well, this team does VERY well. But there are things the Lions are still working on getting better at and they have yet to play a 4 quarter game. If they can limit the mental mistakes and really get the passing game going with some consistency, they COULD be dangerous come playoff time. Hope to see you guys down the line (ok, no, not really...no one honestly wants to see Milan come playoff time ;) ) Good luck to the Dawgs and hopefully the Lions take care of business until we meet again. :thumb:

  17. I am not crying "foul" for Summit. If you could read and comprehend you would see that I said in two years Summit will have 5A numbers and will be out of the district. It will be a two year stay for them in this district.

I am crying "foul" that the 3A teams in that district are picking up a 5th 4A team and under the new TSSAA playoff format, it is already more difficult to get in the playoffs. So apparently you are reading a different thread than me. :thumb:

Gerry, any idea why Fairview's move to 11AA was turned down? It only makes sense and it's not really any further than Harpeth for Camden. I would have loved to have seen the Jackets make the move although I would hate to lose an out of district game which the Lions use to schedule harder competition and rival West TN games. It would help "beef-up" competition in 11AA, lessen it in 12AA...only makes sense which is why the TSSAA turned it down I guess.

  18. Panther fans you have to overlook papaT. There is not a bigger high school football homer in the state than him. He wears his blue and white beer-goggles everywhere he goes and, although it is annoying as heck, he loves and supports his team to a fault no matter what. Just be glad you're not in the same district with him cause it is fun, Fun, FUN every week I promise you.

Congrats to Riverside...kicking butts and taking names! Good luck the rest of the season, we're looking for big things outta you guys :thumb:

  19. thats fifty somethin kids still.. and i honestly dont see 376 in wc highschool without their 7th and 8th grade. And i wont fault the coach because he has gotten several more kids to play and want to be a part of the program. also more kids that have never played before isnt gonna make the issue any better.. its a difference of where they come from.. kids from wc dont want to go play football like ppl from huntingdon.. huntingdon has a prestigous program. WC's program is very young and doesnt have success like huntingdon.. i'm gonna have to check on these numbers. The coach gets kids to play who are willing to work. He doesnt let ppl slide on talent or anything else.

For example teams like Camden, Milan and Westview play against teams with 300+ more students than they have and still dominate. Camden has the smallest enrollment in their district with only one team within 30 students of them. Even Westview has 75+ more students than Camden, but Camden does pretty well for itself. The numbers do play some roll, but a school's commitment to the program and the coaches, players, and community's time and effort are the biggest factors in the success of any sports program. Get your school board on board and all your school's best athletes on the field and you will have a shot at being a successful program regardless of how big or small you are.

  20. I must say, the secondary is looking a lot better and the passing game is opening up for Camden. They are looking sharp and Easley is really settling in at QB. If we could just eliminate turnovers and penalties, I could see a deep deep run in the playoffs.

Camden has yet to play a complete, mistake-free game. If (and that's a big IF) they ever get it together, this year's Lions have the potential to be the most dangerous team Camden has ever fielded.

  21. Can a travel team have more than 5 players from one high school during the summer when they are out of school?

During the summer yes...while school is in session in the fall, no. And the high school coach cannot be the coach during the fall either.
