Reid tried to get it back but got denied.
-
Reid did NOT want to leave. But after three years of not getting play-off pay, no pay for asst. coaches, and very little money to run the program, he had enough. He actually apllied for the GA job as a way to leverage the Alcoa schools system...
Blount county is a better place with Reid gone.
-
I heard that Reid went to the AD and said he made a mistake and wanted to stay at Alcoa and the AD said, "Sorry. Good luck in Georgia. Bye."
Anybody else heard about this or know anything more?
-
I agree with FBE that Reid fell into a good thing. With the talent Alcoa had the past two years my grandmother could have coached them to back-to-back state titles.
-
Outlook...grim.

Alcoa was a better team without BW. Notice I said "team." Alcoa will likely go 14-1 again next year.

How can Melrose not be favored to win this game? They lost very few starters from last year's team and (according to the Commercial Appeal) they have gotten some excellent transfer players. Maryville lost 10 offensive starters and 5 or so defensive starters. Maryville will have to win the turnover battle to have a chance. I will be surprised if Maryvile wins. But GQ and the Rebels have surprised me many times before.
-
How are Cable and Tank? I noticed they didn't play much Friday.
-
How is Melrose in the injury department? I know Maryville had a couple of guys get banged up last Friday.
-
This will once again be a very close game. Both teams are well coached and it will come down to turnovers, penalties, and momentum.
-
A lot of Maryville fans and MoWest fans talked smack on this board all week. Bottom line is that the players, along with great coaching, won the game on the field. Maryville dominated! Enough said. PS Darius who?!?!
-
Maryville needs him for the championship game. Will he be ready to go? What happened to him tonight? I hope the coaches took him out early as a precautionary measure.
-
Maryville wins 28-0. Wish I had been there. Sounds like it was a great game.
-
Don't ask MoWest. They got dominated tonight!
-
Maryville's O-line is smaller than usual but much quicker. They average about 240 across the line. The smallest is the center at about 230. And the biggest is one of the guards at about 265.
-
I have heard a lot of people talk about the size of the MoWest O-line. Can somebody give me the height and weight of the starting O-linemen?
-
Alcoa is finished. Too many injuries, controversies, distractions, and personnel changes. Tyner will come to Alcoa and likely win by two TDs. Alcoa used to have the best D-line in all of Tennessee. Not anymore. TYNER TRAIN!! CHOO CHOO!

A good friend of mine has a nephew on the MoWest team. My friend told me that the MoWest players are very confident and feel like their power running game and ball control will wear down Maryville. They also feel that their defense can hold Maryville to 14 points just like in 2003. MoWest has never been 13-0 and they feel like this is the best team they have ever had. I told my friend that I am a Maryville fan and I disagree. We have a friendly wager riding on the game (no money just pride). Hey Rebels, watch the end of the game at MoWest in 2003 and that should get you so pumped up that it will be 28-7, in Maryville's favor, at the half and 35-14 at the end. Go rebels and make all of Maryville proud!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The Tyner QB is an absolute stud. Without Warren and Sykes, Alcoa's defense will be chasing the QB all night. By the 4th quarter they will be very tired and give up some big plays. Translation: Tyner wins!

Pretty much injury free. We had a couple people banged up through-out the year, but now looks pretty good. Whatever happened to the Tallent kid? Is he completely healed? What was the injury? I know he sat out a game late in the season.
Tallent is back to 100%. He had over 100 yds rushing last week.

Alcoa's letter jacket patches are being printed as we speak.

How is MoWest on the injury front? I know Maryville is doing pretty well. They lost an LB for the year a couple of weeks ago and I heard that one of the starting safeties will sit the game Friday for a rule violation. Other than that Maryville is pretty healthy.

Maryville is now the underdog.
