What a difference a score makes. I thought a reporter reported good along with the bad. But I guess when it happens to your beloved Cyclones your pen runs out of ink. Todays paper no write up but look at headlines from article in Johnson City press April 6 when game was closer:

ELIZABETHTON — Two rivals stared each other down, waiting to see who was going to blink in their first meeting of the softball season.
Elizabethton flinched first.
Unicoi County scored three times in the first inning and three times in the seventh, and then held off an Elizabethton rally to earn a 6-3 victory at the Cyclones’ field on a picture perfect Tuesday afternoon.
Elizabethton made five errors and Unicoi County had one, and all nine runs scored by the two teams were unearned.
It was a showdown between the two teams expected to battle for the Watauga Conference title, and the Blue Devils (4-0, 11-2) expanded their league lead over the Cyclones (2-2, 5-6).
“We were really excited to get a chance to play Elizabethton,” said Unicoi senior center fielder Kellye Lingerfelt. “We knew they would have a good team, and they would be our competition in the conference.”
Elizabethton did exactly what it didn’t want to do in the first inning. The Cyclones made three errors and allowed the Blue Devils to jump ahead.
Jessica Mason set the tone by leading off the game with a double and eventually scored the first run. Lingerfelt capped off the inning with a bloop single to right field, plating Elizabeth Weaver, who had moved into scoring position with a stolen base.
Lingerfelt, who totaled three hits, said the Blue Devils were prepared for this game by playing well in a South Carolina tournament last week. Unicoi won its first three games of the event before losing a pair of one-run contests.
“It was a big advantage for us coming into this game,” said Lingerfelt. “We faced really tough teams and really tough pitchers.”
And the Blue Devils have some tough pitchers themselves, including Mason. The freshman overpowered the Cyclones in the first six innings, allowing just two hits and recording nine strikeouts.
“I don’t like to brag on a freshman,” said Blue Devils head coach Grady Lingerfelt. “But she’s tough. Anybody that sees her knows that.”
However, Mason was unable to slam the door on the Cyclones. And Elizabethton’s seventh-inning rally may have given the Cyclones a little confidence for the rematch on April 28 in Erwin.
Trailing 6-0, the Cyclones had runners on first and third with two outs. Abbie Jenkins broke up the shutout with a solid RBI single to right field.
Then Caitlyn Kerley followed with a ripped double to right-center field to plate two runs, cutting Unicoi’s lead to 6-3. However, Mason turned it up a notch and ended the game with a strikeout.
Mason finished with 12 strikeouts. She allowed six hits and did not walk a batter.
“It’s a huge game for this time of year,” said Grady Lingerfelt. “Our kids were in a good frame of mind. The older kids learned how to win under coach (Charlie) Baxter. They know how to win.”
Elizabethton head coach Kenny Hardin said his team just needs to keep plugging away.
“We just need to come back and work harder,” said Hardin. “It’s early. We didn’t play well on defense, but we hit the ball and scored three legitimate runs.
“We’ve just got to catch it. The girls know that.”
Jessica Robinson was the tough-luck losing pitcher. She allowed nine hits, but no earned runs and did not walk a batter.
