  1. That's what I thought, because I know Jackie Ramsdale...and she doesn't play softball...lol. Congrats to her for her volleyball award...
  2. How exactly are these teams picked? Two of these are confusing to me: Jackie Ramsdale, Dobyns-Bennett Kaley Wetherholt, Dobyns-Bennett The name "Ramsdale" is familiar to me, but neither of those names are in my 2005 records...
  3. Not ALL coaches respond. The majority will at least give you a courtesy call, but sometimes things happen, it gets busy, or they just don't do their job. A lot of the coaches that I know are more than willing to call interested players, invite them up for a showcase, walk them around campus and all.
  4. NAIA schools do not have unlimited scholarships. Also, most schools in NAIA (I can't speak for all) do not give "full rides" for athletics. If anything, it will be a combination of athletic and academic scholarship money... I was expecting to see some more names on this thread. Some schools like to wait until the season is over to sign, so I was really hoping to see a lot more names out here.
  5. Chuckey-Doak, South Greene, and West Greene were the ones that left when I was still playing. The only thing that you have to watch out for is Chuckey-Doak's field, and trying to park your bus at West Greene (you had to watch out in the dugouts, and the outfield too there)...
  6. The Indians will be fine next year. Sure, they're losing some great players, but most every team in the conference is. I'm not sure about who will be coming in as freshmen for other teams, or who will end up transferring in or out of the various schools. But if Dobyns-Bennett can keep the team together (minus the '05 Senior class), then they should be at least Top 3 in District 1-AAA (realize that I am accounting for other schools to get a transfer in our something). I honestly do not see Dobyns-Bennett finishing lower than 3rd in District 1-AAA for any logical reason. I'll save my 2006 pre-season rankings until right before next season though.
  7. Okay, but I still want to purchase that sandbox in Arizona...
  8. I'll agree with that statement, and congratulations to Laura...
  9. There are also public schools in the NAIA. Just like there are private schools in the NCAA.
  10. Okay, I have to give you props on that sig...Kudos to you...
  11. Sounds like a pitchers' dual to me. Congratulations to Powell and good luck in State...
  12. Okay, so that makes a VERY good point. I know of lots of kids that drove to the City schools when I was in school to have a better chance of winning. I actually lived closer to the City school, but I went to County. The name of the game is to play for the love of it, and we should not take anything away from the girls that made it to State. Regardless of classification, those girls made it to State through thier own hard work and efforts. On the flip side, how many teams were denied the chance to go to State because of that. I'm kind of glad that I don't have a horse in the race, but can you blame a parent for giving their kid what they feel like is the best for them (assuming that the child agrees)?
  13. I don't have a son, daughter, cousin, or anything playing high school sports. I just think that it's a little skewed to have private schools playing in the same "level" as public schools. I also think that private schools should all be in one group, but that there should be a distinction made between those that give scholarships and those that do not. As far as the Asains kicking our butt in math, that does not occur because we are zoned into a particular schooling section. That is an entirely different conversation, besides, I think that Baylor kids would kick a lot of people's butts in math, science, etc. The grades that those kids make are remarkable, for the most part because that is something that I believe is required for admittance. So what you have is a team loaded with athletic talent that also perform well in the classroom. If spelling bee competitions were seperated by classes (such as AAA, AA, and A) then that would become a similar issue. Okay, so maybe that didn't make a whole lot of sense, but my new muffler just came in so I'm going to go see how it will look on the car.
  14. Shouldn't there be a Division solely for private schools?
  15. I am not a D-B player, fan, or supporter. Do you really think that someone not on the field would be looking for someone kicking a foot? Or that spectators could see trash talking? Just go down to Memphis and tell your boys to bring a ring back with them to Knoxville. And I saw where Lockwood read something on CoachT and it proved helpful. Also, in Cory's defense he did not say that they would rock Lockwood. He did state that they had played against him in Summer Ball in the past and that they hit him last year. Also, he was referring to being happy about getting to play for a chance to go to State (but having the chance to beat Halls to do it would make it even better).
