  1. I thought they were physical. Hightower was hit pretty good, but he still got his yardage. Actually, I wish we could play teams that hit him like that often to toughen him up. But, as for DC, anytime you give up (at least) twice as many scores as you make, you aren't very good.
  2. What happened then with Marshall Co? They lost to them 70 - 21. They do not have much of a defense. Monterrey must be really bad.
  3. From the look of the scrimmage the other day, Dekalb is big and physical, but has no defense. They gave up 10 TDs to Marshall County
  4. From what I understand, Dekalb came out strong. They were big and physical, and were pretty much manhandling Marshall in the beginning. They scored on a couple of screens. Then, all of a sudden, they stopped. Marshall picked up the intensity, and basically wore them out. Obviously, when things started to go wrong for Dekalb, they went really bad. As for Marshall, we knew they could put points up. While three toughdowns is too many, I understand that the run defense was pretty good thanks to linebacker Jake Chapman. Like I said in another post, if the defense gets better, Marshall is going to be tough this year.
  5. I am here to tell you that I like Coach Shockley's approach. I know that the defense was teribble last year, so I think it is not much to say they will be better. The d-line is big (and will be physical). The LBs are learning their reads well. I think by the first scrimmage in August the defense will be much improved. Heck, if the Tigers can keep opponent's under 20 *grin*, the offense will have a chance to win the game.
  6. [quote As for Creek Wood, Page, and Marshall Co. I really don't have the slightest clue who any of those teams are scrimmaging this spring or if they have already had scrimmages. Marshall County scrimmaged Clarksville NE last Thursday and scrimmages Dekalb Co. tonight. Looked pretty good against NE, but I do not feel it was a true indication because they were not very good.
  7. One guy does not make up an entire line. Who does Littlejohn have to block with?
  8. Is 5'12" anything close to 6'? And if he runs a 5.00 forty, then I have coached linemen that run faster than that. I certainly hope he is not the fastest on the team.
  9. The guy from Marshall County is pretty good.
  10. I noticed that region 5 was pretty tough. Where does everyone see things going for that region this preseason? How do the teams stack up after considering who lost who?
  11. zorroschild, it has nothing to do with just listening to what I want. I am very objective. In fact, I know no one in the area for I am from out of state. I think the best thing for me to do is to form my own opinion of each person I meet. I was interested in other opinions, but I always take them with a grain of salt. You, of everyone else, seem to be in attack mode. I respect everyone's right to the way they feel, but that does not mean I have to feel the same. Thanks to everyone on giving me some info. I look forward to being on the sidelines next year against some of you (and possibly with some of you).
  12. zorroschild, how do you know this early if a kid is ineligible for next year or not? Believe me, I am not taking sides, because I want to learn as much as I can before making any kind of decision. Are you a bitter fan from wherever he comes from, or are you stating facts that are well-known? From what I have gathered, Marhall Co. finished 5-5 last year after starting several underclassmen, and with all the turmoil you and others have mentioned in Johnson's first year. That tells me the talent is there, so all you need to do is coach em up right, and they can go far. What say you?
  13. So, I am new to this board, and I want to know more about this Johnson guy. I met him, and he didn't seem so bad. He seems to believe in his program. I do not know his past, and I am not sure that even matters to me. Is Marshall County in trouble? It looks like they have a lot of athletes. What else can you tell me?
  14. I am really looking for something in the middle Tenn. area, preferably north or east on Nashville. I like the Murfreesboro area, but am looking to live north of Nashville near the Trousdale/Sumner County area. I do not know how far of a drive that would be, so I am looking north too.
  15. thanks for the help, guys. I have been an assistant coach all five years that I have coached, but have been a head coach of a subvarsity team for 3 of those years. I do not know how teams are set up in TN, but here the larger schools have freshman teams that operate basically seperately. I have been the head coach and offensive coordinator of a AAAA school (1400 students) here for the past 2 years. I also was the head coach of both boys and girls tennis teams for three years.
  16. I am expecting that. I hope it is not too terribly much. Is there a website that I can go to that gives the tennesee base salary for teachers? What is an average coaching supplement?
  17. I noticed that someone was running the Wing-T. I am most familiar with the wing and the split back veer.
  18. I wish I could, but I am under contract right now. We are still in the middle of our season, too. I just know that my family and I will be moving, and I wanted to see what is out there.
  19. I am moving to Tenn. for next year and am looking for a coaching job. I will probably be moving near Murfreesboro. I am certified in Mathematics (grades 7 - 12). I have coached football for 5 years, and tennis for 3 years. Please email me at jupchurch@upson.k12.ga.us if interested.
