Hey Goose let me help you get some facts straight. I happen to know the washburn coach real well. Unaka scored 19 runs and Whs only had 2 errors. It was not a matter of quote "stinking it up." The first batter of the game hit the second pitch out of sight, no error there. They had 3 homeruns in the first inning. Believe it or not no errors on them either. They pounded the baseball! Their number 1,4, and 5 hitters hit a homerun on decent pitches. Unaka is a good baseball team and they beat our tail. They won the game, we didnt lose it. Whs also played Rockwood this yr in a DH. Rockwood is a very good team as well. I think Unaka and Rockwood are very similar. As for 2001, you are wrong again my friend, Rockwood came to Washburn and won 5-1 to move on to the state. I believe in crictism very much! I don't make excuses. If one is not good enough, then they are not good enough. I just don't like to hear terrible and horrible when you are talking about 14-18 yr old kids. If they are not talented enough to win, then own it and move on. Some teams work as hard as they can and it just doesn't pay off in the win column but by no means does that mean they are terrible. Hard work pays off somewhere! Good luck to all teams tonight!

I think some of you guys need to think about what you are saying and how you are wording it. You should remember that you are talking about kids, not college athletes that are getting a free education, not pro athletes that are adults that can handle anything, but kids!!! To get on are here and say that kids are horrible or terrible is not right on any level. Put yourself in a parents shoes or a kids shoes that enjoy playing the game. I know it is fun to get on here and predict things and talk a little smack with people/friends, but to say certain teams are just terrible or horrible is words that shouldn't be used. I think everyone knows that some teams are more talented than others. Things like school population never enters your mind i guess. Certain teams just have to go play. Say what you want or will about district 1 dominating district 2 but remember that these are kids!!! Be the adults!! Think before you post!! No excuses!!

What is the game time for the Science Hill/Maryville game? Is it at the high school?

you people can say what you want to say about Cosby but they are for real. I seen them 3 or 4 different times and them boys can play. As for Todd Jenkins that kid is a quick as anyone you will find in east tn. They have 4 kids in their starting lineup that is capable of scoring 25 each night and they also have great role players coming off the bench.

If you dont think that playing on your home court in the first round of a region game does not make a huge difference then you are a moron buddy. NO i didnt think that jellico, j-frank had a chance but i bet any amount in the that if we had played Cloudlad on a neutal floor we would had won. Why do you care if the region was at Hancock you guys won the state anyway. The only reason it was at Hancock was because Clark Powers and we all know he is a moron anyway.

if the first round of the region had not been satellited then region 1 would had been a totally different story that is bull they ever let them do that and all i know is that district 1 be prepared to go to jellico washburn has twice the team cloudland does and would had beat them anywhere else

My name is adam wolfenbarger i went to school at washburn all my life i graduated in 2003. I am now the assistant boys basketball coach now to my brother-in-law Aaron Clay. We have about 200 kids in the high school but the school is a k-12 school so there is about 600 in the whole school. We are loacted in Grainger County on the north side of Clinch Mountain. I played from 99-03, my freshman through junior year i played for Tony Buell, which now is the assistant coach for Walters State and we were not horrible we had a winning record ever year. My senior year i played for now Hancock County coach Clark Powers and we were pretty horrible when he coached. That has all changed Aaron Clay is a great coach and knows how to motivate kids to play good hard basketball. This year Washburn is supposed to have the best team ever. Washburn plays in district 2A and the district has been dominated by Hancock in recent years. Last year was coach Clay's first year and he led the team to the district championship. They did lose in the championship game and went on to lose to Univeristy High in double overtime. Last year the team had only one senior so this year we are led by six good talented seniors. The team is led by 6'5 Matt Cook who can be very dominant on the boards and in the post. On the perimeter we are led by Josh Helton who is as fundalmentally sound as any one East Tennessee. This is not a horrible team, they have chance to win the district and make some noise in the tournament. Thank you Adam Wolfenbarger
