Obviosly you did not see the three idiots calling the Marion and Goodpasture game. There are some very good umps out there and I appreciate what you say you had to go through to do your job. But at this level and with what we as parents are having to pay, and with the time and work that our boys have to put into the game to compete at this level, you would expect better professionals than what we saw at Smyrna. Not one umpire used an indicator. They got confused and that led to a major cluster___k. Once again there are a lot of good umpires out there. Just not these three.

I asked the question to an official at Smyrna. He told me that T$$AA got 85% of gate and parking and the host school got to keep concession and its 15%. So if this is true, T$$AA gets $6.00 of your gate money and and $4.25 of your parking. I am sorry, I can not figure out how they are losing money or not making enough money to help with travel expenses. Smyrna does a great job by the way. We have played there the last two years and they are great host.

I do agree that is terrible that all three teams (USJ, Goodpasture, and Marion Co.) are in the same bracket. But to answer your question, They were just beat by two better teams on those two particular days.

Marion did not lose this game! This game was taken away by three guys that apparently had no reason to be umping a game at this level. Let me give you the situation. Goodpasture had a man on, and the batter had one ball and two strikes on him. He took the next pitch which the umpire called strike three and gave the out signal and both teams leave the field. Let me tell you also that the score is 3-2 Goodpasture at this time in the 5th. Both teams leave the field and as the coach is walking across he asked if it was just strike two. So the umpire behind the plate goes out to confir with the two base umps. They decided that the count was just two and two and ask for both teams to come back onto the field. The problem is that none of the umps including the home plate ump were using indicators and were just using their memory. If they would have just went to the official score keeper they would have indeed found the correct count and it would have been the third out right there. They went on to score 4 runs after that. Marion did rally and put three on the board which should have been enough to win the game. Goodpasture is a good team but the better team did not win this game. When they met in game one they were the better team but not tonight. Sam, Zeke, Justin, Hershel, Blake all deserve to go out better than this. This was really ashame. The game should not have been decided by the three guys calling the game. Unfortunately it was. And by the way, this was reported to the T$$AA officials and they said they were aware of the situation and that they had no avenue in which this could be resolved. That they did not have any way to correct what had happened. Also I think it is worth mentioning that when all this was going on that the T$$AA official got in his vehicle and left so that he could not be confronted with this. Good luck to Goodpasture and I hope the lefty isnt hurt to bad from his fall. Also, Joe Muir pitched on heck of a game. Sam Griswald had four hits.

Tuesday @ 6:30 @ Smyrna High School against Goodpasture

Marion had another fine pitching performance from Bell and clutch hitting from Zephan Guyear and Joe Muir. Blake Fowler also had a big Rbi hit. Good luck guys. Good luck in Smyrna.

Good luck to the Jackets from your friends in Marion County. I do agree with an earlier post that stated that you have good players and good coaches. David and Tim do a great job with your boys and you should be proud of what you have @ Lookout Valley. I hope both our teams get to go the 'Boro.

Should be a great game. Polk also impressed me earlier this year as did McMinn Central. I dont think Marion is scared in any way. I think they will show up. Juan, I personally accept your apology but I cant speak for all of Marion, but my problem and I think most of the fans of Marion only have a problem with one particular player. I will not mention him but I think everyone knows who I am talking about. To me it is ashame that you have a team as good as Hixson but nobody wants to reflect on how well they are playing but just reflect on the actions of one particular player. I also know that the coaches know that this behavior is going on and they chose not to do something about and it seems they encourage it. With that said, Hixson is still hitting the ball. Marion will have to score with them to win tonight. The top five hitters for Hixson were stroking all night long. I think Duncan the catcher is a class act. I really like the way he approaches the plate and has a hose behind the dish. Should be a good game. Good luck to both teams. I hope for a good, clean, well played high school game with Marion coming out on top of course.

Should be a great game. It is Senior Night and Marion has a great group of Seniors. They will all be missed. They have won over 100 games and the total hopefully will keep climbing. Justin Bell, Hershel Bettis, Blake Fowler, Sam Griswald, and Zeke Guyear are all having good years.They will be missed but they still have work to do. Good game for the Warriors. Bell pitched a great game giving up only three hits. Their #3 hitter did not do anything at the plate which was key. Bell force him into a 1-6-3 double play and struck him out. Their #3 hitter did walk with a man on in the sixth. Their shortstop played a good game at short for the Irish. Marion did a good job of putting pressure on their starting pitcher and the Irish at the plate and while on base. Gongratulations Warriors, now lets go and win a few tournaments.

It is pool play with games being played at the host school Marion County and also at Sequatchie County, Lookout Valley, and Grundy County. Pool winners will come back on Sunday to play.
