  1. I know the lineman at Alcoa is very good, But Manassas' OC Brown has got to be in the running. Here is why: 1.All State last Year as a junior 2.Holds 12 D-1 offers currently including Kentucky, Colorado, Southern Ms, and others 3. Is a 4 star on riva1s 4. Showed very well at the all-american combine in San Antonio last year as a junior 5. will most likely get 2 more offers from Auburn and Ms State in the next 2 weeks after ecent visits 6. Is 6-3, 297 lbs, down about 25 lbs, and moves extremely well very his size. 7. Along with Stone, is considered one of the top offensive lineman in the State of Tn You should check him out on Riva1s or utbe II haven't seen the guy from Alcoa, but would be very surprised if he was better than OC Brown.
  2. Finally, someone speaks up for Manassas - thanks! Who did you see Milan play against and who did you see Manassas play against? Are the 2 teams close in talent level - Do you think Manassas is at the same level? If so, If Milan is #2, shouldn't Manassas get some consideration in the top 10?
  3. OK, AE has palyed a very tough schedule so let's give them a nod. However, you are clearly "homering" a little saying Manassas would possibly be 0-6 with that schedule when you don't know a thing about them and haven't seen a single snap. But, that doesn't matter for this discussion because I think you are right about AE's schedule - for a 3A team to play that schedule and be 3-3 with no blowout losses is impressive, so they belong. But your question was if Manassas is in, then who is out. I was wrong about AE, but I still say Goodpasture hasn't played anyone and Mcminn has a 30+ point loss against the 1 good team that they played. You say Manassas hasn't played anyone, but the Trinity and Trezvant wins are better wins than either Mcminn and Goodpasture have. So, either or both of those teams could easily be replaced by Manassas, but still no votes. By the way, the whole post was originally to simply make an arguement for Manassas based on the perception that Manassas isn't even getting a consideration. Again, no one here is suggesting that they should be considered in the top 5, but candidly looking at the bottom half, shouldn't they get some consideration at 6-10?
  4. Goodpasture, Austin East, Mcminn Central First, I agree, Bolivar isn't that great of a win. However, the trinity win is a good win, the Trezvant win is a win against a good 4A team, and being 1A last year doesn't mean much since 4 wins were against 3A opponents. St Benedict is a large schhol in MUS, CBHS, and Briarcrest's district and is a significant step up in competition. Also, don't get me wrong, Manassas shouldn't get any 1st place votes and clearly teams like Camden, Milan, and Alcoa deserve the top spots, but Austin East is 3-3, Goodpasture hasn't beaten anybody of significance and Mc Minn Central has a 30+ point loss. So, we are just looking for a little respect and really think we deserve some votes considering that the bottom of the list doesn't have anything that Manassas doesn't have.
  5. Once again, Memphis Manassas gets no respect. Why? Here is why they should: 1.17 returned lettermen from a 9-2 team last year. 2. After a 1st game stumble, have won 5 straight. 3. Beat a good Trinity Christian team at Trinity by 19 points. 4. Beat Trezvant, who beat 6A Houston in week 1. 5. The line is anchored by argueably the best offensive lineman in any class in the state, OC Brown, who currently hold 12 D-1 offers inculding Kentucky, Colorado, and Southern Miss. 6. As a 3A team is odds on favorite to win thier district. 7. Has an evolving star in sophomore tailback Omar Williams. The 5-11, 208 pound back has rushed for 591 yards and 6 Td's on 38 carries in the last 2 ballgame - a gaudy 15 yard per carry average. We continue to understand in Memphis that the rest of the state doesn't think much of our teams, but this is one who over the past 3 seasons (2007 - 7-4, 2008 - 9-2, 2009 5-1) deserves at least a look. Contrary to Eastern belief, Camden and Milan aren't the only teams West of Nashville in 3A that can play football.
  6. He wears #10. He did not play in the Manassas game as a disciplinary measure. Sounds like was that a good thing for us - Congrats on the win - I think people continue to underestimate TCA for some reason. It is crazy that they do. A very well coached team that is very disciplined with one of the state's best players leading it will always be good against anybody, yet folks continually think TCA will lose. We know better here and wish you the best of luck the rest of the way.
  7. I see that "Yates" had 8 rec. for 135 yards or so - What is his jersey #?
  8. We know in Memphis that all the East Tn folk don't hold many of the teams from inner city Memphis in very high regard, but Manassas is a 3A team that deserves some votes. Returning 16 starters off last year's 9-2 season, the tigers are 4-1 and continue to impress. Led by left tackle OC Brown (11 division 1 offers incuding Colorado, Kentucky, and Southern Ms), the offense has averaged over 400 yards in thier last 4 games. The defense is starting to find itself and the team looks to make a significant playoff run. They are odds on favorite to win the district which should give them at least 1 home agame starting the playoffs and a favorable seed. Don't be surprised to see them in the hunt come playoff time. It is just a shame that 2 loss teams are in the AP top 20 and Manassas doesn't even get a look.
  9. Congatulations TCA from Manassas, Looks like all that talk about not being able to handle a Physical team was a little off base. Good luck the rest of the way
  10. UHHHH - At this point I must interupt. First, Manassas is VERY physical. The pulling stuff from last year is largly gone now replaced by a more downhill approach. The defense flys around the field and very repectfully looks to impose pain on their opponents. Trezvant BEAT 6A Houston who is in a class well beyond any teams discussed on this particuliar topic and Manassas just came from 20 points down to beat Trezvant 28-20 which saw the ambulance come to the field twice. All this to make the following point. You are out of your mind if you think TCA hasn't seen physical yet and that UC will be something new to them. They stood very Tall against Manassas and unless UC just transfered in some new players for Friday night, then there won't be any comparison.
  11. Trezvant has 2 D-1 commits this year, speed at every position, and a pair of 6-3 and 6-6 Des that can run. All you west tn posters who have seen inner city memphis teams come in town for routine beatings may see another thing this year. A few teams Memphis is serving up can play. Trezvant shocked 6A Houston in week 1 and the shocks aren't over yet this year. Trezvant by 13
  12. OC Brown an offensive lineman from Manassas High School in Memphis currently holds the following offers: Colorado, Kentucky, Southern Ms., Ark state, Mid Tn State, and a few others. Evidently, Aunurn and Ms state are very interestred as well and University of memphis, Louisville, and Miami have made recent inquiries. He is a Unapproved Website 4 star and has been a four year starter and one of the big reasons they have gone from 2-8 4 years ago to 9-2 last year. At 6-2 1/2 300 lbs, you should see is clips on rivals - very impressive. Manassas is 3A.
  13. We don't know much about Bolivar here in Memphis - Any ideas on what our kids are going to see? We have been playing A ball the last 4 years, so we are wondering about them.
  14. You are hysterical - despite the venue, that was sure a good game - we Manassas folk screamed so much our throats were sore - about this year - ya'll better, worse, or about the same as last? - As for us, we don't have King anymore, but are way more balanced and have more kids to spread it around to.
  15. Re: Best/Worst High School Stadiums by Memphisfootball » Sat Sep 05, 2009 2:52 pm this was on the 3A 4A boards - thought you might find it funny no doubt about the worst - HANDS DOWN - BTW in Memphis About 65 years old, the retaining fence is 4 yards from the sideline. litterally the team has 1 yard betweeen the "get back" line in front of them and the fence behind them. Players going out of bounds continuously run into the fence. There is a housing project directly to the north where projectilles get routinly tossed at team buses - both home and visitor - no discremination on whose bus gets rocked. the lights are old and dim. the press box has a cage built onto the windows, the scoreboard works only occaisinally, and in the event of rain, the sidelines DO NOT drain, so the team not only has 1 yard of room to stand in on the sidelind, but it will also be 3-5 inches deep in muddy water. And, to top it off - You must ask Mckenzie folk about this one, the parking lot is across the street from the stadium, which sounds like no big deal until you realize that it is shared by the stadium and a bar next door called the "Gay Hawk" whose Friday night crowd is interesting, to say the least. I doubt anyone can come up with a "worse" this this one - and this is all completely true

  17. as usual very classy post from tca people - we heard about the suspensions and hope you get your whole team back soon - good luck the rest of the year to ya'll and we are on to Bolivar
  18. Welcome to the new version of Manassas. King is gone, yes, but say hello to Will Redmond, Terrance Oliver, Antonio Parker and OC Brown. Redmond the QB is only a sophomore and ran for 4 tds and passed for another - TCA and Washington are very good, but the difference now is that you can't just stop one back like last year against the Tigers - now there are threats everywhere - Good game, very few penalties, and 2 solid comebacks, one by each team - but tonight the better team won this one
  19. OC Brown, with Manassas has 15 or so offers. Biggest are Kentucky, Colorado, and USM. Ok State, Miss State, Ole Miss, and a few others will offer soon. 6-3, 312 and runs like a deer - Should look at him on Unapproved Website.
