  1. Well IMO the odds of DB and SH being 1 and 2 in the final district/conference standings are equivalent to a very small fraction with a lot of 0's to the right of the decimal, but as I understand it one of them has to go to the playoffs, and it will be interesting to see how it plays out and how many losses that team has.

Didn't mean that it was happening this year but that's something to take into consideration in future years.

  2. I keep seeing people from Greeneville and Boone using their games against South to say how great they are. It's been discussed on another thread so you all may not have seen it but the only team that got South's best shot this year was Knox West. Greeneville saw the real South team in the 4th quarter and Boone saw it when we were down by 14. Greeneville is a good team and will do well in their class but you were shutout by Betsy. I will give you credit for holding them to 10 points because they have some firepower. I haven't watched TN High yet or anyone that they have played to this point so not sure what to make of them yet. I will say that I think they will have to throw the ball. Greeneville has a good defense (even though alot of yardage was given up against South most of it was in the air) and I don't think TN High can just run the ball all night. We saw how well that worked last Halloween for them. Sorry Cap but I had to get a jab in there. :roflol: Still waiting on that email back from ya. :popcorneater:

  3. It gets confusing tho. If SH and DB are both lower than that, does the one with the better wins automatically go to the playoffs? I know Sullivan East is the only 4A school in their conference so....they have to win out in 1st or 2nd to hit the playoffs? So is it overall or just conference wins or... the new system is confusing. I know that the 3rd or 4th place teams could go to the playoffs but only with a wildcard spot. Who knows.

This is what it says on the TSSAA website above the district standings

5A - The top 3 teams become playoff eligible. 6A--The team that finishes the highest in the final district standings becomes playoff eligible. If the two 6A schools finish 1st and 2nd in the final district standings both become playoff eligible.

I read that as DB and SH automatically qualifying no matter what their overall record if they are 1 and 2 in the conference standings. I'm curious as to who plays who in the playoffs. I've haven't read anything about that part yet.

  4. Why are all the DB fans acting like they're not even going to make the playoffs when they can run the table and win the conference? You lost to Boone but it's just one conference loss.

I never have figured this out for certain, but I'm not sure the Indians need to run the table to make the playoffs. With the new format they may only need to beat SH, Volunteer, and Crockett (assuming South beats SH also which seems likely). If SH loses to South and DB, and DB loses to South and TH, that would leave DB and SH both with 3 conference losses and assuming the head to head is the first tiebreaker DB would go.

exactly! Science Hill still has to play Boone as well. Lots of games left to play. I didn't know this until just a few days ago but if DB and Science Hill finish first and second in the conference, they will both automatically go to the playoffs.

  5. It's funny how all that you heard was how DB was going to win this conference every year and it may end up that the three "little" schools are 1st, 2nd, AND 3rd. :popcorneater:

Funny, I am a db fan and never heard this. You made it up, cause we all know db is down

Ok, sorry. South was picked first with 5 first place votes and DB was picked second with 4 first place votes.

  6. If DB's line can actually play without giving up huge penalties they will have a lot of big plays. And i'd like to see anyone from south try to tackle Chris 1 on 1 in the open field :roflol:

You can tell we haven't played each other for the last couple of years because of quotes like this. Obviously you have never seen Ty Garvin, Clint Phillips, or Ethan Long play. :popcorneater:

  7.

are you serious!? lol...who have you all played that is worth talking about? Science Hill is the best team you have played! and you only beat them by 2 touchdowns! and it was an 8 point game until about 4 mins to go in the forth!!!...oh did i mention we whooped Science hill in our scrimmage! with injuries!...we are back at full strength!!! when you play someone that is actually good then you can start talking trash...understand!?

Look Bamboo or whatever your name is... I decide when it's time for me to "start talking trash", 325 yards on 42 carries for the Vikings in the Science Hill game (that's over 7 yards per carry as a team). Scored on every possession but one. Held one of this regions premier backs to under 30 yards and one TD (there are three of them so far this year. Everybody knows who they are, and non of them wear green on Friday night). You didn't see the game....did you? :roflol: I would bet money that three of the Vikings previous four opponents would stand a MUCH better chance of beating Greeneville than Greeneville has in beating THS. And I hate to be the bearer of bad news but... winning all the scrimmages in the world aint gonna get you a 4th place ranking in the State on the AP pole. Unless you're DB!! :popcorneater:

lol oh god! ya'll are sooooooo good! 325 yard on 42 carries! i am soooooo worried now!!! oh wait i forgot...we have one of the strongest run defenses in the all east tennessee! allowing only an average of 14 points a game (thats including the sullivan south shoot out that turned into a heavy weight fight)...ya'll haven't been challenged yet! we have! TWICE!!! but ya'll will get all ya'll want and probably more come friday out on the turf!...don't get me wrong, i'm by no means saying ya'll don't have a good team! i'm just saying so do we so stop thinking your gonna run all over us! we have yet to play to our full potential. but it won't be much longer for us to be able to just show you...so good luck friday...i'll be there rooting for my team!

So you're saying Harmon will throw for about 400 yards like St. Clair did.

Cap, did you get my email? I sent you one yesterday.

  8. Man Cap I think you still haven't gotten over how poor little Greeneville with their patched-up, post-Greenway offense ended your 08 season early.

And why not use injuries as an excuse...you've already used it as your excuse for losing to us last year.

I don't think any of us know what this Greeneville team is capable of because they have not been at full stregnth on defense the whole season. And I'm not talkin' about insignificant injuries....Church, Hall, Rollins, Story.....thats a lot of beef and speed. Having them all back in some capacity should make this Greeneville D stronger than in the last 3 games. If Greeneville can control the stupid penalties, they have the talent to hang in and give yer Vikes a game.

Barb if you don’t quite livin in the past your hairs gonna turn gray! :thumb: And you can’t possible compare your injuries to last years Vikings loosing a player that averaged 30+ carries a game for his team. But ironically… even with the loss of Shepard for the game, we still had a chance to win that game in the end. Friday nigh…. THERE WILL BE NO DOUBT!!! :thumb: Barb do you think I would seriously be blowin the Viking Horn if we weren’t 100% legit. I was right in the thick of things in the 04’ season… you know the year we dismantled EVERYBODY by and average of about 30+ points a game, until we ran into THE WALL in Maryville. :thumb: This team is almost as impressive (and the jury is still out) as that team when it comes to talent, depth, and team pride!! These injured players you speak of would maybe make it interesting for a while… but they would effect the inevitable outcome!! If your coach is smart, they won’t play unless they’re 100%.

Cap, don't forget that South gave you all you wanted in that playoff game in 04. We had you under control until the fumble on the punt at our own 5 yard line. You beat us by about 50 during the regular season that year I believe. I think you refer to that as the glory days now. I sent you an email by the way, Cap.

  9. LOL ! Ok thanks.

OK I'm sorry already. These questions are actually meat and potatoes. I don't know the status of Aaron...but I heard he is playing. There I go breaking my own rule with the rumors. Don't know the status of #1 either. Don't know if Dillion is 100% yet. And don't know if Ty is 100% yet. So I guess I don't know much this week. It doesn't matter this week anyway. But two things I know. Knox West was a four TD team over Boone. But, they lost their star TB with a torn ACL and a torn MCL. And then they looked powerful against Farragut. But then I am of the opinion that Farragut is not the next 6A Tennessee State Champion. Plus Heath Haden did not miss a beat with the shocker at Gate City 45 minutes before kickoff. He played like a vetran. Gate City just so happens to have a tremendous CB covering Zanoni all night and he played a massive game because Heath put it in Z's hands all night...the CB was just always there. And against Central he showed his cut and run ability...which we already knew he had as well. Heath Haden has the ability to kill you with the long ball. The difference is Heath is very intuitive. Aaron is very calculating. Who's better? It's a toss up. But we want them both on the field together.

Definately agree on having them both on the field together. Heath is a great QB but we need him at WR this year because you can't cover Zanoni, Watterson, or Haden with a LB. So then do you put an extra DB in there to try and cover everyone and we run it all day long or you take your chances one on one. I would love to see some more plays for Ty as well. We are just a different team with St. Clair at QB but that's not because Heath can't get the job done because like you said Comp, he was on the money on those passes at Gate City but that DB was one of the better DBs I've seen around here lately. It's going to be a fun game.

  10. :thumb::thumb::thumb:

Never did I think that this thread would be more entertaining than the South-DB thread

Well nothing like a losing DB team to take the wind out of even the blow-hard Indian fans.... I guess they don't have much to thump their chests about particularly after the Boone loss.

I think they are just lying low waiting for a beating but you will see all kinds of them if they are able to pull the upset.

  11. I'm not Comp, but IMO, West would beat Boone by a couple of td's.

Remember that West's best running back when down with a season ending injury the next to the last play of the game so losing to Farragut by 7 points without him was a great accomplishment. West would beat Boone by a couple of touchdowns at least. Waiting on the Boone people to come on here and start saying "no respect".

  12. Well, good to see the trashtalking has started. Unless you have been to all the South games this year, you really don't understand what Comp is talking about. We were absolutely dominate in the West game for 3 quarters and we have not looked like that team since other than 2 or 3 quarters of football since. This is a conference where you will have at least 4 tough games and maybe another one if you aren't careful. You have to be ready to play each week. For whoever it was that said South wouldn't be motivated, are you crazy? 93 was the last time we beat you. You don't think that's motivation? Pass along whatever you're having because it's some good stuff. :popcorneater:

  13. Coach Carter's spread offense has averaged less than 7 ppg against the Indians but I suspect this is not your typical DB defensive unit. If it is, look for a close game similar to the one at South in '05 with #32 seeing a heavy workload. The decisive play could be a play-action bomb to Seabolt. He looks ready to go after that catch against Boone and South's corners looked vulnerable against Boone and Central. :flower:

They've looked vulnerable every week except the Gate City game but there wasn't really a threat of a pass then.

  14. The women and children are probably safe.... the animals are always in jeopardy.

    TH VIKINGS 49 Greeneville 14 UG-UH-LEE

Hmmm. Not too concerned about my dog. He can defend himself pretty well. The way this thread is going now, I guess I better lock my sheep up in the barn, though.

I thought you kept them in the house already. :flower:

  15. South # 2 now.....

    Tenn. High should be #1.5.

South needs to toughen up that O line and get those Dbacks to the ball before the big showdown (No not DB) with Tenn.

Should be the game of the year with 2 unbeatens. (fingers crossed)

It's funny how things work out some times.Boone is #10 tn the state as well.Boone doesn't have the athletes that South and TH have, but they had enough to take South to overtime and beat DB.Number 58 for Boone is a beast at linebacker and he can change a game. Now,for the big showdown. There is no way that South is giving TH a thought right now .TH has it's mind on a tough bunch of Devils as well.DB will have to put together nice drives and rest A defense that will have it's hands full on the ground and in the air.I understand that the number 2 team in the state will be a huge favorite, but they can be beat, and DB will not go without a fight and Carter knows that.

DB will need to follow the blueprint of Boone. Control the clock and force some turnovers. Do you all play many players both ways?

  16.

Rebel Yell, give me a sedative please! Run it up coach! Stacy Carter, Ranger 1st Class, aka Jeff Gordon NASCAR heavyweight...foot on the gas with lead boots coach! Herman...Leave no doubt! I say break three digits!

Sullivan South Seniors...your blood should be boiling very soon! Babies and memories Aaron...babies and memories!

So you really think we're going to blow them out? I know we beat them by the score of 33-7 back in 93. Not sure if that's the biggest margin or not.

  17. There's people I respect down there...Barb & 6666, but truth is truth and a facts a fact. The Vikings are going to rape your women and children and take your animals. Greene Devils, you just became slaves to the most rabid group of Vikings since '04. They are going to beat you real bad...it will be a blow out. I'm sorry, but they are going to put up 56 points on you. Not trying to start something. Just what I feel.

Guess its better than the usual taking of the women and children and raping the animals... i better put up my dogs before friday.....

You live in Greeneville so I would put them up right now. :flower:
