Anyone know the exact bat specicfications for high school next year? Heard they were changing.

Hunter can throw hard and with a little work he will go a long ways. I guess they just gave him that MVP. As for Chris, I saw him pitch in Ft. Meyers and i guess those 10 or 12 radar guns that said 88 were all broke? As for you, I guess you could go 4 for 4 on both on them? Funny how your first post about Orphanos said 88 was a guess. Now you say you seen it on radar. I agree with Columbia guy. I have seen him pitch and I doubt he is near 88.

My team was $500 and we played anywhere from 40-55 games the past few years while playing in many states and college venues. I definitely do it for the love of it. I can't remember a summer when I didn't have to pay out of pocket for something. But there isn't a thing in the world that I would take for the places we have been and players we have seen and the time I have gotten to spend with my son. The comment about adding all of it up is priceless. My Dad used to tell me the same exact thing, even down to could have paid for Vanderbilt. Amen! Finally someone on here really gets it.

Murfreesboro Warriors win 17u National Division! 07/11/2009 SANDLOTT Mid-State 17u News: Coach Barry Messer's Murfreesboro Warriors have won the 2009 17u regular season championship for the SANDLOTT Mid-State National Division. Congratulations to all the Warrior players and the entire coaching staff. After pool play, we were the # seed in an 18-under international tournament They should be congratulated for their success but the Sandlott league is not strong. Also, being number 1 seed in a tournament does not mean a thing. I never concern myself with how my teams finish in pool play. We win ninety percent of the tournaments we play and hardly ever finish in the top two. Pool play is a good place to work on things. Winning is not everything. Getting better is. As it was said before, playing school ball may be beneficial to the kid that does not have an elite travel team to play for. Those kids may not be as advanced, therefore have nowhere to play. The school team may allow them to develop their talents. Some kids develop later than others. The more advanced kids need to be challenged too!

The point I'm trying to make is, if you have a coach committed to the program, teaching the game, and creating a challenging and enriching experience in the summer, then high school baseball is the best option. If the high school program just throws the team together, gets someone else to coach it, or just schedules games without using the time to teach, then I think those teams probably should just take the summer off. If all the things mentioned above are done, then it would most likely be worthwhile. Kids have plenty of time to work on their swing in practice. They have plenty of time to work on their fielding if they practice. Travel ball does not in any way prevent practice.

I am sorry. I am sure that some of these coaches have good intentions but they just don't get it. The competition is not there. Our summer was wasted with games ending in run rule (in our favor), cancelled games, and never getting together for practice sessions. Maybe not all, but it seemes the coaches are just in it to receive a summer bonus. The coach that posted is doing it right. Allowing these kids to travel and play better competition is going to help his program in the long run. Keeping them together has it's merits but also allowing them to travel is a very intelligent way to do things. He will get the best of both worlds.

Don't believe they played spring fling at Riverdale last year. They may have but that may be why Riverdale was not mentioned. Oakland and Riverdale probably have the best fileds in the county. Nice bleachers.
