  1. Couldn't have put it better myself. Except for the part about Ford. He has been playing both sides of the ball for the first time this year. I'm wondering if that might have a little something to do with it. You wanted a response, here it is. First off, I don't believe Fern Creek would be a top ten team in Tennessee. That is my opinion. As there is no way to prove this I will say agree to disagree. Secondly, please keep taking personal shots at me, I find them entertaining to read. It's funny how every franklin fan accuses me of knowing nothing when it is quite apparent that they know nothing themselves. On to your next comment. Yes their record is 4-1. They lost to a quality opponent. That is my point. They beat 4 mediocre teams. As soon as they played a team deserving the status of "good" they crumbled. If you would stop to think, no other team that the rebels have played has had a positive win/loss record. Now, "For you to think they would start someone who was not worthy is crazy." You obviously have had no experience with franklin high football, or for that matter, high school football. If you knew anything at all, you would grasp the concept that high school football is about as much politics as it is who is the better player. On to your points. 1. Yes they have lost seniors. But did you stop to think that the defense lost seniors also? If I'm correct, and I am, the defense lost just about the same amount of starters as the offense. So here you have a majority of the defense who have never started in their high school career who still manage to pass for a good defense. Please explain. 2. I agree. He is not the player he was last year. All I can say is a real athlete would be able to play both ways if his team required him to. 3. Again, what is your point. Yes the rebels don't have the WRs they did in past seasons. WHICH IS WHY WE ASK WHY THEY TRY SO HARD TO FORCE THE PASS. "Short elementary routes"? Those aren't what I saw at Ooltewah. Now please, listen. This QB cannot throw downfield. When he attempts such a thing, all I see is a floating duck ending up in an incompletion or a pick. Ever heard the phrase play the hand you are dealt? They don't have the personnel for a pass game, but the franklin faithful say they have the best RBs in the state. That one should be self explanatory. Stick to the run and let the offensive line get better at that before you try to boost up the pass. BECAUSE THE RUN HAS BEEN PROVEN AT FRANKLIN. But no, for some unknown reason clayton is stuck on a pass game that doesn't exist this year. I await your reply patiently.
  2. "In the state of Kentucky" is your fallacy there.
  3. So, 5 games in and the rebels are still struggling. I will take some time now to address some issues that some may have questions about. First off, let's discuss the schedule. Let me inform you why the rebels are playing in Kentucky again this week. When the time came for schedules to be made for this season, clayton figured he had better things to do. So while other coaches immediately got to work planning their seasons, clayton was busy playing golf (or other such activities). That is how the rebels got stuck playing 2 games in Kentucky this year. Moving onward, and somewhat unrelated, Rebbacker, you mentioned your son was in the Army now. How is he doing and is he still in basic? On to this week. Again, I don't know anything about Fern Creek, but based on how Christian County played this should be an easy game for the rebels. For those who ask "why are they playing in Kentucky?", see above. So now we are at week 5. Rebels have shown little (if any) improvement, regardless of what some people, *cough longhorns cough* say. It seems that some people think that completing one good pass against a 1-3 team automatically means the passing game is on par. Longhorns, I will take this sentence to personally ask you why you are so hellbent on backing a poor excuse for a QB when there are other considerably better players to take his place. And no, don't start the accusations of me being a father/brother/relative of any player. I am simply a football fan and express my opinions as such. The rebels are looking at 2 relatively weak teams over the next 2 weeks, and I venture to guess that after each game we will hear "rebels dominated this week completing 3 TD passes" and so on and so forth. It has been stated that the only interception in the Hillsboro game was caused by a bad coaching call that placed the QB in a position to throw an interception. I may not be an expert on coaching, but it would seem to me that throwing the ball away would be a better idea than throwing to a player on the other team. It seems that the coaching/play calling for the rebels is consistantly bad this year, and if I were the rebel coaches I would think long and hard about the coach in the press box suggesting plays. This week we can all look forward to another "great offensive showing" from the rebels as they play yet another Kentucky team.
  4. And now the truth comes out about the mighty rebels. I don't know whether the loss is due to the absolutely atrocious coaching and play calling or just the lack of heart and skill from the players. I think it's a lot of both. Let's try to recap the game from the claytons point of view. Rebels are down at the half, what do we do? Clayton answer, "pass". In fact, seems as though that is claytons answer for every situation. I would like to know who the moron is calling plays from the press box. Obviously, the pass isn't working. When this happens, most, if not all, GOOD coaches would say, "hey, let's try something else, the pass isn't working". Not these coaches, they seem to be set on the idea of a passing game which is just impossible with that crap o line and that crap qb. It doesn't matter how good your offensive line is at pass blocking IF YOUR QB CAN'T THROW, much less put 4 plays together without losing yards on penalties. Somehow, the words "I told you so" just don't cover it. Franklin played 3 mediocre (at best) opponents and now they thought they were football gods. Like I said, first time they played a real team they would crumble, and crumble they did. Like a house of cards. The defense played terrible also. It's called adaptation, a concept that coach webb apparently cannot grasp. They couldn't adapt to Ooltewah just as they couldn't adapt to Oakland in the state championship last year. The rebels are incapable of playing a physical game against a physical team. And where were the franklin "trifecta" rbs? Ford - 14 for 70? Dye - 5 for 9? Of course I get my stats from the tennessean, so look for a margin of error, but still. 14 carries for 70 yards? I think ford finally stepped up onto the pedestal that everyone has set for him and turned into a crap player. With the type of football being played in Tennessee right now, the rebels can look forward to a few more wins this season, but this is a dying breath for a once great football team.
  5. Long bus rides tend to kill energy and stamina. Franklin will come out sluggishly (more than usual) and if the Owls can jump on them early it's game over.
  6. This will be a defensive game. I don't know much about Ooltewah's offense but the defense will run the rebels into the ground. This years offensive line cannot handle a physical team. Gonna be a long night for the rebels come Friday.
  7. This week ends the offensive line debate. I can't wait to see the offensive line crumble under Ooltewah's defense. Even oversized beanie baby #78 Anderson will get demolished by the DE... Smith is his name I believe? Now we can finally see the true nature of the rebel o line this year. Get ready for a long game rebel RBs, since there won't be any holes open for you.
  8. Centennial. The time has come. Tonight the losing streak ends. I'm not saying that I'm a Cougar fan but this game is already over.
  9. The only probelm with your argument is... a pass block is nothing like a run block. An offensive lineman does not sit back and wait for the defense to come on a run play. We are talking about a difference between a first step forward and a retreat... and anyone that has common football sense knows the first step decides the play. So no, running pass plays over and over has no effect on their lackluster run blocking, which explains why they aren't getting better.
  10. I'm not angry. I'm just expressing my opinion. It's what this website is about. If you don't like it, don't read it. Nobody's forcing you to.
  11. Last year the rebels had Nichols who could throw and Eaton who could catch. This year they have a QB who can't throw and the receivers look like a 5th grade flag football team. Offensive line barely even provides time for quivenan to throw. I honestly don't know how they are undefeated. Wait, yes I do, they've had no competition. I believe this week will be the first time the rebs will have a challenge. They can't handle it. The attitude "we are franklin rebels, we are guaranteed a win" won't last long when Centennial is running the ball down their throats and the almighty coach webb is scrambling around the sideline looking for players that aren't afraid to hit somebody... A daunting task indeed. The play calling from the pressbox needs to get sharper too. Any team that drives down to Brentwoods 20 then throws 3 straight passes needs to rethink their game plan. All of these things added up spell the first loss to Centennial... Coming to a local stadium near you this Friday.
  12. Your comments amuse me. Coaching will be the end of the rebels this week. I don't know who's bright idea it is to throw the ball all over the field when there are 3 of the "best" (in my opinion overrated and lazy) RBs in the backfield? Oh right.... Clayton. It's called a practice. It happens 4 days a week. And that's when the QB can get some throwing experience. But water under the bridge. This week these 3 "amazing" running backs will really be put to the test, and I believe the whole team will crack under the pressure.
  13. Don't assume that I am Mikruts older brother/ parent. I'm not. Don't sully their good name. My comment about Mikrut was an assumption due to the fact that his brother was a great QB and I would think that if his younger brother had any strive to be a better QB he would ask him to help. I repeat, I am not a Mikrut or have any relation to the Mikruts.
  14. Well we came into that game knowing nothing of Christian County. Now that the game's over all I can say is.... WOW. That's considered a state championship contender in Kentucky??? Why would a Williamson County team play a Kentucky team when almost any other team in the state could demolish that junk heap. And the answer? Clayton. Now we know why this "amazing" coach has such a great win/loss record. Look at the competition he had in Kentucky... Here's a clayton thought process for you, "let's head to another state so I can show off my sorry excuse for a QB to my boys back in Kentucky." As for the overrated running backs, Ford carried the ball how many times? That's right... 3. Why? Because this RB cannot be relied on to show leadership. The QB cannot be relied on to throw, hand the ball off, or anything else for that matter. The offensive line cannot be relied on to open up holes for the running backs. Maybe it's the o lines fault that the rebels are so bad this year. But I stand by what I said... This is just a sub par team with no leadership. Please don't rely on them to do anything this year. Sure Centennial may have lost players from last year. But according to everyone else, so has franklin. What people seem to forget is, this is a TEAM game. Individual players make little difference if the team is not backing them up. This is the case for franklin, so much individual talent but no TEAM, and a coaching staff that is mediocre at best will mark September 4th, 2009 as the day Centennial first beat fhs.
