  1. Yes that is correct, but that was the year that a few of the players smoked weed at camp after Mr. Perry told Coach Martin to let a young man back on the team after he had been kicked out of school for selling weed. The players at camp were kicked off by Coach Martin, many of them starters and seniors, but again Mr. Perry forced Coach Martin to put them back on the team. From that point forward the team was a mess as the suspended players wanted their starting positions back when they returned.
  2. I am currently interested in getting back into coaching. I have over 13 years of experience with both the public and private schools. 10 on a HS level coaching receivers, tight ends, and D backs. I have 3 years on the Middle school level as an Offensive Coordinator. If anyone knows of a school (private or public) that would consider a non-faculty position coaching football, assistant AD, and a on-staff substitute teacher please respond to this message. Thanks.
  3. Not sure. All I have to go on is it shows enrollment now as 633 with the multiplier. I believe they have something like 335 students in grades 9 through 12. They did move up in football from 1A to 2A.
  4. Sorry, some will not go to the TSSAA site to read, so I just included it all.
  5. Just keeping it real folks. Should be a good game. TC much better should win by 3 TDs. GP has no passing game and if you stop their Tailback it will get ugly fast.
  6. No the years they won they were still in class 3a. Each district is made up of teams from different classifications. The ones that go to the playoffs are the ones that finish usually in the top 4 of the district and how they are seeded are how they did againist the other same calssification teams in their district. When the TSSAA did their re-organization a few years ago that was how they made the districts with all different classifications in a district. From TSSAA 2013 Handbook pages 2 and 3. III. GENERAL REGULATIONS (Division I: Class 1A, 2A, 3A, 4A, 5A, 6A) A. There shall be 24 teams in the Class 1A and Class 2A play-offs. There shall be 32 teams in the Class 3A, 4A, 5A, and 6A play-offs. B. Each district/region shall be comprised of teams from two subdivisions. 1. In Class A, districts/regions will be comprised teams from two subdivisions: Class 1A and Class 2A 2. In Class AA, districts will be comprised of teams from two subdivisions: Class 3A and Class 4A. 3. In Class AAA, districts shall be comprised of teams from two subdivisions: Class 5A and Class 6A. C. Teams are required to play all other teams in their district/region unless the district/region is comprised of nine teams. In the case of a nine team district/region, the district/region can vote to play a “pod scheduleâ€. The nine teams would be placed in three groups of three teams. Each team would play the other two teams in their pod and two teams from the other two pods for a total of six district/region games. The six district/region games in the pod schedule shall be designated as district/region games for each team. If a team chooses to play a game against a team in the district/region that is not a designated district/region opponent, the game shall count as a non-district/non-region game for the purpose of district/region standings. D. Teams shall qualify for the play-offs by finishing 1st or 2nd in their district/region or by placing high enough in the state wide standings for their classification based on a set criterion. If the 1st place team in the district is under disciplinary action from TSSAA and, as a result, is not eligible for the play-offs then the 2nd place team shall be moved up to 1st place and the 3rd place team shall be moved up to 2nd place. If the 2nd place team in the district is under disciplinary action from TSSAA and, as a result, is not eligible for the play-offs then the 3rd place team shall be moved up to 2nd place. 2013-14 TSSAA Handbook Page 3 July 30, 2013 For the purpose of district/region standings, the following tie-breaking procedures shall be applied and all regular season games, both district/region and non-district/non-region, shall count. If at any point when the following tiebreaking procedures are applied, one team has beaten all the other teams that are tied for a play-off position, that team shall be rated above the others. After any position in the district/region standings has been determined, the tie-breaker procedure shall begin all over again to determine the next position. This procedure shall be repeated to determine all places in the district/region. Tie-Breaker Procedures: 1. The team with the greatest number of victories. 2. The team who plays the greatest number of team who win 50 percent or more of their games. 3. The team who has the greatest number of victories over teams winning 50 percent or more of their games. 4. The team whose opponents have earned the most victories. 5. The team whose opponents have received fewer defeats. 6. The team who has the greatest number of victories over teams in its own class. 7. Ten yard-line overtime procedure at neutral site Monday night at 7:30 P.M. Once the district/region champions and runners up have been determined, the remainder of the 32 team bracket in 3A, 4A, 5A, and 6A and the remainder of the 24 team bracket in 1A and 2A shall be completed with teams as they appear on the overall standings within each classification (1A, 2A, 3A, 4A, 5A, and 6A). The standings will be determined with the following criteria: Note: Some of the tie-breaker criteria below involve games against non-Division I opponents. If a team plays a school that is not in Division I, the following criteria will be used to determine that schools’ classification for the purpose of breaking ties. Non-Division I being non-TSSAA schools, TSSAA Division II schools, and out-of-state schools. The non-Division I school’s enrollment will be used. That school’s enrollment will then be applied to the current TSSAA enrollment breakdowns of 1A, 2A, 3A, 4A, 5A, and 6A. If the school is non-public, its enrollment will be multiplied by 1.8. If the school is a single sex private school, the enrollment will be doubled and also multiplied by 1.8. 1. The team with the greatest number of victories. 2. The team who plays the greatest number of teams who win 50 percent or more of their games. 3. The team who has the greatest number of victories over teams winning 50 percent or more of their games. 4. The team whose opponents have earned the most victories. 5. The teams whose opponents have received the fewest defeats. 6. Total wins by the opponents of teams defeated. 7. The team with the greatest number of victories in their own classification. 8. The team who has the greatest number of victories over teams in their own classification winning 50 percent or more of their games. 9. The team whose opponents in their own classification have earned the most victories. 10. The team whose opponents in their own classification have received fewer defeats. 2013-14 TSSAA Handbook Page 4 July 30, 2013 11. Total wins by the defeated opponents within their own classification. 12. The team with the greatest number of victories over teams in a larger classification. 13. The team who has the greatest number of victories over teams in a larger classification winning 50 percent or more of their games. 14. The team whose opponents in a larger classification have earned the most victories. 15. The team whose opponents in a larger classification have received fewer defeats. 16. Total wins by the opponents of teams in a larger classification defeated. 17. Coin toss Once the 24 teams have been selected in the Class 1A and 2A playoffs, the teams will be geographically grouped into four six-team quadrants. Once the 32 teams have been selected in the Class 3A, 4A, 5A, and 6A playoffs, the teams will be geographically grouped into four eight-team quadrants. This grouping will be done without regard to district/region alignments. Priority for seeding once the teams have been placed in their geographic quadrants shall be as follows: 1. Teams finishing 1st in their district will receive first priority. 2. Teams finishing 2nd in their district will receive second priority. 3. Teams who do not finish 1st or 2nd in their district and qualify based on their position in the football play-off standings shall receive last priority.
  7. No GP was 3A for the past several years and was put there by their request. Their enrollment had them in a lower classification. GP did not win the district last year, White House did. GP finished 3rd behind WH and Westmoreland. As for the game Friday, TC will win by 3 TDs.
  8. Sorry you feel all I have said is crap, but what you have in your post is the same thing I have been saying. It is not old information, it came directly from the TSSAA web site. Maybe I just did not state it clearly for everyone to understand. I have over 15 years of TN HS coaching experience with both public and private schools. So I do not have a dog in the hunt, just wanted to ensure that everyone understood that all schools are in the classifications they are supposed to be in based on the current rules.
  9. Upper, Unless you have proof I would be careful making blanket statement about all privates recruiting. I would also include Open-Zoned schools who do have kids from outside of their zone in school and playing sports only if they pay a tutition fee. Also, there are some public schools who recruit. There is more to a level playing field than just privates. When we just say privates and no one else it makes us look prejudice and making excuses when we lose to a private school.
  10. Excuse me I should have said Class A not 1A. There are only 3 Classes A, AA, and AAA for all sports except football playoffs then there are 6.
  11. Wow! All Caps now. Sorry you are upset, but go to the link from the TSSAA web site is shows all the schools and there enrollment (with multiplier) and what class they are in beginning this year. If you are correct then why does the TSSAA site list these 3 schools as 1A? . Boyd Buchanan High School * 531 Class A Class 2A . Grace Christian Academy * 569 Class A Class 2A . Goodpasture Christian School * 603 Class A Class 2A This are not my rules they are the TSSAA rules. Please read the web page link information.
  12. http://www.tssaa.org/Classifications/classification.cfm With the 1.8 multiplier it is different.
  13. No you are incorrect. Please look at the TSSAA site, schools with 1 to 632 in enrollment are 1A. 633 and up are broken into 2A and 3A. Please do some research before making statements.
  14. No you are incorrect. Please look at the TSSAA site, schools with 1 to 632 in enrollment are 1A. 633 and up are broken into 2A and 3A. Please do some research before making statements.
  15. Sorry I meant to say CPA. Too early. How are things in Adams these days?
  16. CPS drop GP not the other way around. I have tried to show you from the rules and regulations of the TSSAA why they are where they are. The enrollment plus 1.8 puts them in 1A for all sports except football which is 2A. They wanted to move up to 3A football but the rules do not allow this. You are the one who needs to get your facts correct. Do a little research before making statements. They make you non-reliable. Everyone has an opinion, but base it on facts. They way you put things you were there at the GP meeting when they made their decisions.
  17. They are playing 1A because other than football there are only 3 classifications and you cannot move up in other sports.
  18. Thanks Indian. You are correct. As for the Div II, each year all privates in Div I play Div II teams to fill out their schedule. I believe last year when the decision was made by GP the coaches wanted to move, administration did not.
  19. Sorry the 335 was before 1.8. With 1.8, 603 which puts them in 2A football.
  20. From TSSAA: Schools in Division I playing football have been divided into five classes based on the total number of schools playing football; therefore, schools are classified as follows: 5A - Schools with an enrollment of 1,348 and above 4A - Schools with an enrollment of 961 to 1,347 3A - Schools with an enrollment of 675-957 2A - Schools with an enrollment of 364-673 1A - Schools with an enrollment of 361 and under Goodpasture Christian School FB 335 with 1.8 multiplier So really they could play 1A ball but choose to move up to 2A.
  21. The 1.8 multiplier that the TSSA uses is one of , if not the highest in the country. They have been playing at that level for 8 years. Their enrollment is so low now that even with the multiplier they are still just 1A in all sports, but could only move up to 2A in football as decided by the board and administration. If the other schools have good programs in other sports then I am sure they will compete fine. The field is as level as it is going to get. The small rural schools are at a disadvantage with open-zoned county schools that can take students from any connecting county as long as they pay a fee to attend. They are just like privates. If we want a level field let's talk about everything both public and private.
  22. Slim, I would suggest everyone who thinks GP is doing something to go to the school and see the kids walking the halls and what kids are on the sports teams. Their talent level has gone way down the past few years. The economy has hit then hard and the other privates now open in Sumner county have taken away a lot of the kids who did go to GP, but have options now.
