  1. I totally agree with you 110% Stat_Pack 1. You make some great points. With honesty comes a lot of bashing from the supporters in high places. It is a shame, but hey, that is the way things go around here. These seniors are a great group of young men who totally deserve better than what they are receiving and have received. They have put in the time, working hard during the hot summer days. They are present and accounted for and work hard during these months. It has been common practice for some members of the team to be present for one or two workouts during the summer and participate and/or even start the first game of the season. This sends a mixed message to the players if you ask me. I know there is only one more regular season game left for these seniors. Play your heart out and do not leave anything on the field. Be sure that when the clock shows all zeros, that you can look inside and say to yourselves that you gave it your all. It is not how you start, but how you finish. Finish strong, play with a lot of pride, and do it for yourself, your family, your teammates, and the Panthers. Good luck the remainder of this year and in your bright future. Keep your head high!
  2. Poor coaching and play calling. Period. Nothing else to be said. Unbelievable. It was a tale of two halves. LC did whatever they wanted, whenever they wanted the entire first half. It was obvious which sideline made the adjustments at halftime. What was the purpose of the fake punt? It may have worked if it was less than 4th and 20! Coaches have to take FULL responsibility for this loss. And one other side note, ZERO discipline! You have guys throwing their helmets on the sideline and NO ONE did anything about it!! Totally ridiculous!
  3. Stat_Pack1 said "The coaches are learning whats it going to take next year, they are learning how to defend next year." Shouldn't they already know what it takes? For the most part, this is a veteran coaching staff. Granted there are a few young coaches, but the young coaches have been around football most of their life. The coaches have coached enough games that they should be able to adjust. It should not take a year like this one for the coaches to learn and adjust next year. There are six more ball games left in the season. Find what it takes THIS YEAR, makes the changes, teach the fundamentals to the players, and see what happens.
  4. Where was #8 the last drive and why was he not in the ballgame?
  5. I totally agree 100% with you LCHSgrinch. This is not the same old panthers. The experience is definitely not there. This is a young group of guys who are hopefully learning alot this year and will turn this program around. When #10 is at QB, they might call a passing play. He is not the running QB LC has typically seen in the past, so the defense knows one of the three backs is getting the ball. When #2 is QB, he at least can run so the defense has to somewhat guess if he or the backs have the ball. Not as much of a threat to throw the ball as #10. This defense, like most of the other panther defenses in the past, is struggling against the passing game. It seems worse this year because we are actually playing against teams in the REGULAR season who can pass the ball. For the most part, LC did not face a throwing offense until the playoffs. If the players are dedicated, an I think they are, they will learn from each game and should get better. I see a lot of kids on the sideline wanting to blame others for a missed tackle, missed block, and simply not taking responsibility for their actions. This is a team game. One player cannot win/lose a ball game. This attitude is contagious and can cause a team great trials. Each player must be held accountable for his actions on the field by the coaches and their teammates. Without this, there is a lack of discipline and respect. Likewise, the coaches must also be held accountable for his actions also, especially when it comes to motivation. Confidence is a great tool to have and one can crush that confidence in a matter of moments. I have heard a lot of talk about comments the coach(es) have said to the players, especially at practice and in the locker room. Be careful the words that you say, because it gets around and is not always uplifting nor encouraging. Granted there is a way to motivate, but some of these comments are unacceptible and do not get anywhere. So I wold say the bad attitude is coming from the players and coaches!
  6. I hope they have found the right combination in the background this week during practice. It has never been a throwing offense, but might be worth a shot. #3 is so tall that he can go up and get the ball when thrown to him. Mpst corner backs are not going to be able to match his height. Not sure if they have the speed, stength, and talent in the backfield they have had in the last few years. With time and experience, could be one of the best backfields. It will just take some time. Why not change things up a little bit and maybe catch the defense off guard?
  7. I was there and was very impressed with the first drive and the other drive where they fumbled. THe soph QB was placed in a difficult position and I thought he responded really well to have not had the experience. He threw one pass to # 3 that was a spiral and right on the mark. Seems to be a talented kid. Just not the arm strength like Duncan, Sharp, Brewer, Crowell, etc. but I think with time he could be good. Hope the coaches choose their guy and stick with him. Each QB brings something different to the table, but it also causes the team to get out of rhythm when a change in made in the middle of a drive.
  8. Thanks for the info. Do you know who will be starting at QB this week? Hated to see them change QB in the middle of the drive last week. It appeared to me they were moving the ball and then changed QB and fumbled. Anyone could have fumbled on that play, just not sure why they changed in the middle of the drive when everything was going smooth.
  9. Was he injured? Did he start the first game?
  10. @LCfootballfan I know for a fact that Sharp has not marketed these players like he should have. Heard it from the former players on mouth, recently as a matter of fact. It takes more than putting a name on a mailing list. Pick up the phone and call, create a highlight video, etc. There have been many kids who could have played and were good quality kids who had their heads on straight. Too bad their name was not out there. It is a shame! @926 Trust me, the coaches and administration knew this change was coming. The may not have known when. The talk has been swirling for some time now. @radio33 About time to step up and play the teams that every other sport has to play. Giles, Marshall, Page, and Spring Hill are in the same district for softball, basketball, and baseball. Don't whine now because football has to play. What does it profit to win 8-10 games a year and lose in the first or second round of the playoffs? Maybe some are content to win the district and make it to the playoffs each year. I don't know. Why not win 6-7 games per year and be prepared when playoff time arrives?
  11. Good luck the rest of the way Panthers!
  12. I have watched a lot of LC games the last few years. After watching only two games this year, it is obvious the talent level is down. LC does not have the number of athletes they have had in the past. They can no longer step onto the field and beat the opponent on talent alone. In the past LC has been able to win 7-10 games each year because of a little coaching and a lot of talent. This year seems to be a little different. A few questions to ponder. Is the talent there? Are they just young and inexperienced? Are the other teams better and more experienced? Are we getting out coached? Will we make improvement? How will we finish the season? After watching the first two games of the season, I think the talent level has been comparable to that of the competition. Mt Pleasant had an experienced QB, but other than him not much more experience. A lot of talented young athletes that compete and play well together. A very well coached team. No super stars, just a lot of kids wanting to win and succeed and a rich tradition the last few years with Daily. Collinwood has an excellent QB. He is the field general. The ball must be in his hands for them to succeed. He makes everyone around him better. A true leader. A senior and a wealth of experience. Besides him, a lot more talent but I do not think anymore all state performers. Another very well coached team. Again rich tradition. I think this season will depend a lot on the coaches and how well they prepare their athletes Monday-Thursday. They will have to use the players in the right position, at the right time, and in the right situation. The season is still young, but a lot tougher opponents still exist on the schedule this year than in the years past. This is a change for LC and will be interesting to see how the coaches and players react to the challenge as the year progresses. I am not expecting to win the rest of the games, however I do expect less penalties, improvement in each position, and the kids to continue playing as a team.
