  1. Some great names from the past! And if there was no Ogle we would have a great time debating who was best. But the reality is that Ogle exists and he is the best by consistently 10 yds. i think in all honesty you have to throw chad castainca's name in there, only kicked one year and could hit 45-50 yarders consistently, not to mention put it in the endzone almost everytime. only missed 1 field goal while he was there and that was because it was blocked.
  2. You really must not be much of a fan huh? Greeneville's offense has probably been 60% run the last two years, nothing different this year. It takes 11 guys on the field playing their responsibilties to make any play work. If one person messes up, it can ruin the whole play. The offensive line has struggled from my perspective. Yes the run plays seem to be "Up the Middle" but in your case when you have no clue what your talking about, It all looks the same. Greeneville hasn't ran outside in the past two years probably not going to now. Maybe in conference play. I bet you have never strapped up, have you? or you're a player who is unhappy about not getting the ball or something. Running backs are only as good as the meat eaters that block for them. Believe it or not. The play calls against Volunteer, Science Hill, Grainger, Jeff. Co., Sullivan South, and Elizabethton have all seemed to be the same as the ones that were ran last year and the year before. P.S. I look forward to some "no football smarts" comeback too. if you're lookin for "no football smarts" you picked the wrong person to comment on. first all i'm a heck of a fan i've not missed a game since i graduated, and wont. i wish greeneville the best but they just need to change some things... with that being said don't tell me about the run plays, as a former lineman i know our run plays, they are zone plays where the runnin back makes the reads off the blocks, and yes the past two years we've ran it 60% of the time, but that's cause we had the lines to do so. this year they don't or not yet anyway so they need to go to a different scheme. i know that it takes the "meat eaters" as you say to make a good runnin back, i've been a part of lines with very good runnin backs. the play calling has not been the same check the stats i bet i'm right. that was a good try on trying to call me out... but it didn't work,
  3. South Greene doesn't have near the size up front as Betsy had so the run will be much more effective. If they use jamel as a power back like i think they will, they will pound it up the middle all night. SG has shown they struggle against a powerful run....That should open up the passing game nicely. who's jamel? hall? he doesn't run the ball, and the passing game has been open but the coach wont call passing plays.
  4. If Greeneville tries to run the ball like they did against betsy, sg will have a chance. They're going to have to incorporate, #87 into their offense, he's the best weapon we got. also if he runs bj play in and play out up the middle he's going to get wore out again, and wont be as effective on D. Let trey run the ball, he can do it he's proved it before. If coach will call plays like he did against jeff co. then look out sg, but if it's like last weeks game, i think the devils could be in for a rude awakening.
  5. I'm not worried about whether G'ville fans learned their lesson. I hope G'ville's coach learned his lesson. Everyone at the game, (except the coach, apparently), knew by the middle of the first quarter, that we couldn't run up the middle, but did he try anything different. NOooo, not until the last min. and a half, and it worked. Imagine that. When almost every play centered around handing the ball to BJ, it didn't take a rocket scientist to figure out where the ball was going. Don't get me wrong, I love BJ, and he's a great athlete, but dude! And the coach actually commented to the press, that this was his plan... Wow? Our defense was absolutely worn out. Our coach needs to realize that one of the points to having a second string, is to run subs in and out on an individual basis, not just dump the whole string in when we get way ahead. That way, our boys have something left at the end, and our second string might actually learn something about playing football. Neat concept, huh? While we had some "terrible" calls against us, the loss to Betsy is on the coach's head, and our boys did all they were allowed to do. Heads up high boys! The other "huge" problem that G'ville MUST overcome, is their almost total lack of pass coverage. I don't know if that's because the coach hasn't taught them how that's supposed to be done, or the players just aren't doing their jobs. Either way, if they don't fix it, then South Greene may just kick G'ville's hind parts. the run was extremely one dimensional without chaz story....pass coverage was a bit hampered by the fact that Church was wearing a cast..... the defense was just flat....no amount of subbing would fix that. even if chaz story was healthy, how many times did he touch it against south? you guessed it slim to none. and as to the cast thing, a cast has nothing to do with you being in position to bat down passes or anything, our secondary struggles the cast has nothing to do with it, he can still run around and be in position with a cast on his arm. the defense was not flat, they were one the field 90% of the game and only allowed 10 points and you're gonna say they were flat? they played a heck of a game, that loss is on the coaches shoulders 100% terrible play calling
  6. disagree with me if you'd like... but this game may be closer than everyone thinks. if greeneville continues to play like they did against betsy, this could turn out to be a good game. south greene may not be very big but they have some good weapons. one thing that i promise you will have to change is greeneville's play calling, it's awful. we've got one of the better recievers in the state in rob wright, and we don't utilize him, instead we decide to run it with bj spradlin play after play and get stopped. we're killin bj, in the 4th quarter against betsy he was gassed, you could tell by the way he was playing, we have a very good running back in trey anderson, and we wont give him any carries, but instead we decide to wear bj down. south greene is going to be small and quick, and that will cause our o-line troubles, they're struggling bad. i think that greeneville will pull this one out, but if they don't change some things, this one could be closer than everyone thinks.
