  1. Pretty decent game. Milan's fumbles were tough but the Alcoa O/D line dominated this game. Milan's defense held strong, but it was too much F5 and not enough Milan game plan to make them get away from their strengths. Alcoa's D line and linebackers put pressure on everything Milan was trying to do. I would have like to see Milan pass a little more in non-passing situations as that seemed to be open. However, when F5 knew it was coming, they shut it down. Alcoa's fundamentals were excellent from everyone that took the field. Congratulations to both squads for excellent years. The best team won.

  2. How will 3A stack up next year. I would imagine Alcoa will be just as good. Milan is losing alot but they have alot of good but inexperienced players. McMinn Central is losing alot and it looks like a rebuilding year. York? Camden? CAK? Loudon? Polk? Betsy?AE? SC? Any sleepers? This may make for a new thread but I thought we could at least put what we thought in this one.

If Alcoa does have a weakness it is pass defense. Maryville had some success against them. Maryville had receivers wide open all game long. Trouble is you have to block that Alcoa front. Maryville had trouble blocking Darrell Warren and Tyler Robinson.

Those boys do have hilacious bull rushes. Milan will definitely need help from the backs in pass protection. Get it out of there quick to because them boys are tall and can bat it down

  4. You missed my point all together. I am not trying to bash anyone, I am saying if York and their district opponets would have played some of these east teams they would not have faired as well. I know you are proud of your program, and you should be. Polk and McMinn Central were in a weak district overall, but those two teams were strong. Loudon, CAK, Austin East, and Elizabethton would have probably been a 20+ favorite against York. Your first round opponents were from a really weak district.

Sorry, but York would have probably beaten Central, but probably not Polk. Central and York had the same problem with depth, but York is more talented. I'm a Central fan, therefore I can say this. If Polk can beat S. Pittsburg, then you better bet they are pretty good. Polk just got outgame planned in there loss to Loudon.

  5. oook, thats why we have a tailback that leads the state in TDs yet splits time with Tyson, Warren and I believe Rockymore

That makes a lot of sense SmileyFacepalm.png

You got about 20 kids (probably fewer) that get any sweat/grass stains at all on their uniform unless it is mop up duty. We are probably close to that with each class being about 20 deep. Your debate is the 95 is better than 66. Who cares? The on field product would not change one bit. The difference is that you got about 30 something kids that would be better off buying a ticket and learning to play in your band (it could use some help).

  6. Possession Time 31:27 16:33

    1st Quarter 9:51 2:09

    2nd Quarter 7:33 4:27

    3rd Quarter 8:32 3:28

    4th Quarter 5:31 6:29 [/b]

This will be key again this year............

Absolutely correct. If Alcoa holds on to the ball and converts the 3rd downs like they did last year, Milan is probably in trouble. Milan has to find a way to get off the field on D and stay on the field on O. Hopefully a turnover will help our cause.

  7.

Dude you don't have a clue...You guys dress 95 and about 75-80 are ticked because they don't see the field. Milan plays more two platoon football than Alcoa has ever thought about running. But hey if it makes you happy to see kids just stand around with their hands on their hips...then you just keep thinking that way. In my opinion it is pretty sad.

  8. I really do love this thread. All the pictures. The smack talk. The two teams fans going back and forth. Trolls that wish their season wasn't over getting on here and trying to extend the season. Oh well, come Saturday it will all be over and we have to wait for another season to roll in. I truly appreciate the opportunity to read about all the different teams and get to participate. Thanks CoachT.com I am sure hoping for a good game. I would be interested to know what kind of teams each of these programs will have next year. Trolls please feel free to let everybody know what you guys will have next year as well. :popcorneater:

  9. This thread has me rolling ;)

From listening to Milan fans you would think they beat Alcoa last year. Listing all your playoff appearances, semi-finals, championships, and runner-ups

State championships: Alcoa 10, Milan 4 (that's more than double). I'll give you credit you do have more runner ups than we do ;) When we get there we win and we get there more than you do. We also have more semi-final appearances than you and more play-off appearances than you. Not my opinion on any of this, just plain facts. And the fact is that Alcoa is ranked #42 in the nation according to one poll.....where is Milan?

I want someone that has the guts to argue with this statement.....the best football in TN is in Blount County.

I'll be your huckleberry. You guys are rated #42... even better. Looks that much better for us when you fall. You guys have a good team and have had for quiet some time. Maryville is also good. But like everything else, all good things must come to end. Loudon isn't that great, CAK isn't that great. They are good, but not great. East TN football in general isn't great. Your successes over the past few years have been better than Milan for several years, but there was a time not very long ago that the Milan area had several teams in the top ten in multiple classifications. And the last time I checked Maryville got beat last year. So you just keep playing with your pistols. We are taking dead aim.

  10. To answer the question about Milan's D-Line:

Pretty solid; Not great. Not bad either. With #88 Coleman in the middle, they do very, very well against the run. Without him, its not very impressive. Milan lost their other DT stud, to torn ACL.

Milan relies heavily on 4 linebackers. Williamson, Bledsoe, Nance, and Gilbert.

Any chance Coleman goes on Friday?

  11. Tyler has been used more on defense in some games. They tend to rest him in games where they feel they need him the most. The fullback Tyson....normally doesn't play on defense unless there is an injury. Warren sometimes plays FB and he is a beast on the DL. The QB never leaves the field (he's not going to wear down, he's done this all year). Toney goes both ways but he won't wear down (he gets 15-20 carries per game consistently).

what about your cb/wr #15? he looks pretty tough but doesn't he see the field alot.

  12. Well I remember that game and Williamson was very impressive, but I don't recall that there was ever any real concern on Alcoa's part  This is a different year, however I believe same results, but with a few surprises along the way. F5 sets another record with a 6th consecutive Gold Ball

If there was no concern then why did you have to run a trick play to score your first (I believe it was your first) touchdown. It was because you had tried to run up the middle but got stopped. It was a nice trick play that was successful, but trust me you would not have run it had you not been concerned.

Toney is a very good player with a very good o-line. Somebody used the word patient to describe him and I would say that is very accurate. He doesn't seem to outrun his blocks. The two packaged together with a very good fullback is a tough game to plan for. Hopefully Milan's O can keep Alcoa's D on the field for long periods of time. This will wear on all those boys that go both ways. The 3 and outs were a big problem for Milan last year. Once Milan started staying on the field on offense, Alcoa got tired and was not as effective when they got the ball.

  13. If Alcoa plays like they have in several games this year, they are beat. Milan is the best all-around team Alcoa has seen this year (maybe - haven't seen Maryville). I'll still say Milan by 14. I actually think all the tough competition over the past few weeks hurts Alcoa from a physical recovery standpoint. I hate that CC from Milan was hurt last week. Hopefully he give it a go this week. I don't think he would have to worry about cheap shots from Alcoa as they are definitely man enough to attempt to block him unlike some recent competition.

  14. A lot of South Pittsburg Pirates' fans will be there to cheer on our Alcoa friends!! Good luck and GO PIRATES!!!

Thats great, we would love to have you. Good luck in your game, I will be there for all of most of it. Going to be a great couple of days for east Tennesseans :thumb:

I'm from East TN. Can't wait to see South Pitt and Alcoa go down. I know plenty of folks from around here that would agree with me. Therefore, I agree, it is going to be a good day for East Tennesseans.

  15. call it what you may, but the entire way York was trying to stop 88 was cheap. From the first play. I made the comment early in the game that they were trying to hurt him. It was obvious on almost every play that they were cut blocking. Not saying it is illegal but it's cheap and everybody that has played the game knows it. When you can't man up with somebody you try to do whatever to get them out. "ProudParent" should be rolled up and smoked for your comment. Period.

York played one heck of a game and all the Milan folks I was around were getting pretty nerved up with the whole way the game was progressing. I believe that is the most 4th down conversions I've ever seen in a game. 41 and 10 are good players and would have given even Alcoa problems with the right game plan. At least for a quarter. Milan eventually got some breaks and did not make any mistakes. Refs weren't calling interference on either side but it really didn't affect the scoring in the game. I wish good luck to both teams.

  16. You guys (Milan) better play better defense because there wasn't any against York on Friday night. You play like you did against us you will get beat by 4 touchdowns by halftime. Then, again you might be safe since alcoa doesnt throw it much because you guys could not I repeat could not stop the pass. Alcoa may not have to throw it though if they run over you like they do everybody else.Your defensive line better get more physical and aggressive.Just sayin............................

Go to the school and pat 41 and 10 on the back. They are players. Why they disappeared in 2nd half, ??? You guys ran for exactly how many yards? Don't remember much, but I am sure it was positive yardage but it wasn't much. I hope Alcoa tries it. Really.

  17. Alcoa has weaknesses and Milan can win. Milan has weaknesses and Alcoa can win. This is how Milan wins.

    1) 41 from York is a player. 10 from York is a player. They would have eaten Alcoa's corners up until they ran out of steam, similar to what they did to Milan as Alcoa's corners are definitely the weakness of the defense (worse than Milan).

    2) Alcoa plays a bunch of folks both ways. Why, who knows? They do wear down significantly as the game goes on. Really weird seeing the qb playing on o, d, and special teams. But when they are fresh, they are a handful. Tyler is awesome, but does seem to lose alot of steam due to playing so much. Milan will have to stop them early in the game and take advantage of the "wear down"

    3) Alcoa's QB reminded me alot of the qb from York except a shorter, smaller arm version. Alcoa's qb doesn't have the arm but he moves around alot and escapes alot of tackes. Milan's db's got to stick with their coverage because he can scramble and find the wide open guys down the field. Alcoa's receivers look like they could be very good, but don't think they throw it that much.

    4) Milan's qb doesn't have to throw the ball way down field. It really looks like the dawgs could pick on their corners.

    5) I was surprised (like everybody else was) that York was able to throw the ball like they did. I really hope that Alcoa does try to throw it alot because that gets them away from their strength.

Milan will have to game plan to Alcoa's weakness. However, it really looks like they have the weapons. Only playing one kid both ways will really help. I really think Alcoa scores early but Milan can keep up with them. 14-14 half. Somebody is gonna use some trick plays and will get some advantage. I really believe this game is going to come down to special teams, where I think Milan has a decisive advantage. Turnover will also play a big role. Milan 35-21. Remember everybody talking last year about Maryville getting beat in the Championship game. This has the making of part II.

  18. A BIG GO YORK from CC!!!!!!!!!!!!! :roflolk: Represent our Region WELL! One thing is for sure this won't be a sight seeing trip ,I know SC calls their place "the hole" , well IMO after you cross the "river" from that point all the way to Milan is the "REAL HOLE" if any part of TN. needed Charmin this is it!!! LOL!!

Al Gore doesn't even like to call Smith County home. And I guess he totally dominated Bush in that election too. Seems like all you SC folks have the same mentality. Oh well, wait another 4 years and maybe you'll be back in the playoffs.

Be careful about running that PUFFER ,Smokem.........pondexter is from Cannon Co.....If you want to run off at the mouth about SC, be sure you know what you are talking about and who you are talking to.

By the way... you might want to ease up just a little............your little pom-poms will be all worn out by Friday.

yeah I noticed that after the fact. I guess I should have told him to take down the "WE BELIEVE" flags in Woodbury and go to DJ's an order a pizza. All kidding aside, DJ's does have good pizza. In all reality, that makes it even funnier. Somebody from Woodbury saying something like that about Milan...Woodbury is like the home of John Wayne TP. Nice Dollar General though.
