  1. hope you're right. Hope everyone stays injury free.
  2. Well I'm a Henry County fan, but lets get some opinions. Who are the best teams in 5A besides us? I know we're ranked #1, but who are the other big boys that are gonna challenge us come playoff time? I know nothing of any of these teams, except that hillsboro sucks this year, and that knox catholic is pretty good. i hate this new class.
  3. yea, i hope we can get a big win. Then take our week off and rest up and get healthy for Dickson County which will always be a good hard fought game. Then we close on the road at Rossview. GO BIG RED!!!
  4. there aren't any middle and east tennessee juggernauts in this class. At least not any that have shown themselves so far. Last year's 4A was much tougher than this year's 5A, Knox Catholic and Clinton are both pretty good, but neither of them are juggernauts, and hillsboro and melrose arent nearly as good this year. The real powers from years past have all moved up to 6A, i.e. Bearden, Blackmon,Maplewood,Oakland,Maryville, and Farragut. Maplewood might still be in 4A, idk, all i know is they aren't in our class anymore. Then there's the occasional powers in the lower classes like Alcoa, Milan, and South Pittsburgh. 5A and 4A look weak compared to the other classes, which is why i think this is the year if any to bring a couple of championships to the west for a change.
  5. ah, i miss the old region. Good job Munford.
  6. Stared at it for about 4 minutes, and it still makes no sense to me other than who's probably going. i didn't see any bracketology in that post. If you could clear it up for me at all, just tell me, if the season ended today, give me 1 or 2 examples of who would play who. maybe it will then make more sense to me.
  7. Anybody know about Clarksville? what type of offense they run? what type of defense? are they fast/explosive? i know nothing about them other than they're currently ranked 3rd in our district. Will be a good test for the pats i presume.
  8. I agree, this is about the team. And this team is 7-0, ready to go into a battle with Clarksville next week. Lets get that W, then get rested up and healthy for the battle of the barrell. GO BIG RED!!!
  9. okay, i guess we will see friday night then. I'm not dissing McCadams, i'm proud of the way he came in and handled the situation. As i stated on the Clarksville post, i still expect that the Patriots will come out, fight hard, and do whatever it takes to win. I just believe that Shonte is too good of an athelete to not be our undisputed starter. I'm not saying the QB has to be the best athelete on the team, because that isn't the case, i'm just going with our history, and historically, our best athelete has been the qb and we have fared well that way. If our offense improves with McCadams at the helm, then i will come on here and admit i was wrong and continue supporting the big red no matter who's playing QB. Best of luck to the Pats friday night.
  10. They're a Good football team, Spencer Brooks and Bryson Crowder are studs. Coach hook's doing a great job down there in Jackson. I'm from Henry County and I hope we have Tech on the schedule again next year and in years to come. I'd like to get a good West TN rivalry going with you guys. Two of the best programs this side of the river right now, even if it's not a district game, it would just be nice to have an annual bragging rights game with you guys. Turn into the Maryville-Alcoa of the west. Best of luck to Liberty the rest of the season, hope you guys get something we never could, a 4A gold ball to bring back to this side of the state for a change. We're working on 5A. Lets get some respect back for West Tn.
  11. I'll say Springfield wins this one. Kenwood is just a struggling program right now. I'm a Henry County fan and i've seen us play both teams and needless to say Springfield was clearly the stronger of the two. Best of luck to both teams, hope they stay injury free.
  12. Well props to Jay McCadams, but I've seen him play enough to know he's certainly no Shonte Sims, passing or running. You could make an argument with the fact that he has played mostly with the JV in running clocks, but Shonte is simply a playmaker. He keeps the defense on their heels every time he touches the ball. No offense to Jay McCadams, who I'm sure will do just fine next week if last night was any indication. But if I had to pick my QB, the person who touches the ball every single snap, I'm taking Shonte over McCadams easily. No brainer in my opinion, but thats just me. But either way, Go Big Red!!! Shonte is a playmaker, but as we've all seen in the past 2-3 years, he's better known for his defensive plays of pure brilliance. Offenses lined up against HC knowing that he lurks in the secondary like a tiger stalking his prey. Sure he's done exceptionally well this year. However, did anyone else notice how in the second half, whenever Jay was put in the game after Shonte went down, the offense suddenly was revived? He led them on two scoring drives, while also keeping the defense motivated to hold the fierce running game of Northeast to 7 points. It seemed to me that the offensive team was more responsive to McCadams than when Shonte was in there. Now, Shonte is one of the best defensive-back players to come through HC, and his presence will definitely be missed. But I can't believe how some people "RedSwarm10" can doubt Jay's abilities without getting see what he can do with the first-team offense! He played 3 snaps against Liberty with them, only because Shonte caught a minor cramp. Since then, he's been stuck with the second team, and has tried his darndest to make the best out of what little they support him with. West Creek was a prime example, given the sloppy conditions. Bad snaps with the second team, while Sims went on with like 10 total first-team offensive snaps, and never had one bobbled. Give Jay a chance before you count him out of the QB race. I know he'll raise some eyebrows and answer some questions friday night against Clarksville High. well i hate to say this, but did you notice that when Jay was brought in, we went to the I formation. And he didn't do much dude, we lined up and ran it down their throat. And i saw him with the first team offense last night as a matter of fact, and i'd still take Shonte any day of the week. I hate to sound like a complete jerk, but you're kidding yourself if you think McCadams is going to be anywhere close to what shonte has been. I'll give him props for that TD pass, which was in large part a great play by Shaquille Allen. the reason gaddis put them in the i formation is because it's basic football knowledge, with shonte in the game we run the shotgun, to utilize the explosiveness that sims brings to the table, he can run it, pass it, and really keep the defens on it's heels. McCadams isn't as explosive, i know that, YOU know that, and the coaches know that, so they switch back to a more conservative style offense. believe me, if we line up and run this same type of offense with McCadams week after week, defenses will catch on pretty darn fast. No offense to you, idk if you're related to McCadams or what, but we need sims back ASAP.
  13. This is just my opinion but I feel that 4A is tougher and will be harder to get to the state title than 5A. I am not saying that there are not any good teams in 5A, just not those you see winning titles every season. This is why I feel that HC has a really great chance to win it all this year..... Both of you are right to some extent. This certainly isn't the same patriot team of the last two years with Marsalis and Dominique. To be honest, even though this years squad is undefeated, i'd probably take the '06 team with Calvin McNairl over this one. As for 4A being tougher, it's not very strong this year, but it was deffinitely much tougher last year than 5A is this year. Which is why i still think this Patriots team will be around near the end, and even as I look over to East Tennessee for 5A, there really aren't any true juggernauts like there have been in years past. And with the Z playoff system, I hear the Patriots are likely to still see some of the same teams they have played in years past in these playoffs i.e. Melrose, Hillsboro. And neither of them are near what they were last year. So overrall, yea this team still has a good shot at a Gold Ball. I'm not saying it will happen, but just because we aren't putting up 50+ per game like we were last year, doesn't mean we aren't a heck of a team. Because make no mistake, this team still has enough talent and coaching to beat anybody. But they REALLY need Shonte back ASAP. I have faith in Jay, but you can't lose your best player and expect to go deep in the playoffs.
  14. 15. Excellent job by the coaching staff of making adjustments after Shonte went out. Also a very good job by Jay McCadams of leading the team on two scoring drives in the second half to help them to a victory. Little Mac also had a very good game, fought hard for every single yard. Thank God Shonte's injury isn't serious though. I saw him on the crutches limping after the game last night and i thought he might have been done for the year. Go Big Red.
  16. Henry County takes this one. Close game though. I'll say 28-21 pats. Simply because this this team has a winning mentality and this coaching staff will make adjustments for this team with McCadams at the helm to still utilize all their talents and be successful. I'm predicting that McFerren will have a monster game, and look out for sophomore Najee Ray, with Sims out, we'll probably be seeing a lot more of Ray getting the ball. Which isn't a bad thing at all, he's probably going to be QB next year.
