  1. You can go back and look at one of my early threads I was the first person to say numbers dnt lie.... But to run up scores or stats takes the intergrity of your program away... And once you get that jacket, it's hard to take it off!!!
  2. And the point of this thread was to campaign for him.... We been knowing his capability, but a few people got on here and doubted that he wasn't one of the top backs in the city... So now that all the naysayers believe us now about how talented he is or how he's been Player of the Week 2 out of the last 3 weeks(which it should of been 3 out of 3) in the Commercial Appeal... But you may be right, 2000 does look a lot better than 1700.... But 13 touchdowns in 3 games is also a pretty good stat-line as well!!!
  3. Huh?? In college programs they assign coaches different areas to go scout every week... If you got a player on your team then a college will come to your school to meet with the head coach and come to the game that nite... College coaches dnt want highlight tapes, it's a fact.... Yea they are great and all but highlight tapes doesn't show what a certain player is doing when he doesn't have the ball, or if the play is going the away from them... So trust me the college recruit be at high school games if you got a player worth coming to see.... Cuz they are not gonna offer a kid nothing if they dnt come watch this kid play in person!
  4. Yea you do see college teams pulling their players... And I didn't say stats didn't matter, I said when you up 45 points that doesn't impress a college coach to keep your star player in the game and keep giving him the ball... Most college recruiters will leave a game assuming that the star wouldn't or shouldn't be on the field anymore... I'm not going off an opinion, these are words from the mouth of an actual person that's an actual recruiter in the SEC... And keep them in the game 4 quarters if your up to see if they can play four quarters?? What?? If your up 35-40 points your starters should not play at all in the 4th quarter.... And NFL is a totally different market... They are getting paid!!! And I was watching the UCF and Memphis game Saturday, they took their starting QB out in the 3rd Quarter... LSU against Auburn.... Took Lee out at the end of the 3rd quarter... Oklahoma vs Baylor, Blackman was taken out of that game... So in college they do take them out cuz they dnt wanna risk a guy getting hurt while you up 35 or 40 points.... And the off season prepares players to play 4 quarters not keeping them in when they up 40
  5. Very untrue statement.... Yea those stats may look good at the end of the season but if you ever are a part of a Division 1 program and you talk to the coaches that actually recruit you.... They hate coming to see you play in a blowout game because there not see your adversity.... They are not seeing how you play win your down 20 points, do you give up or do you keep fighting... Are you encouraging your team or are you pointing fingers.... I personally know 1 recruiter from the SEC and they hate to come to games where they know it will be a blow out or to see the guy they recruiting on the field still in the game when your up 45-0.... That's why they ask your head coach in advance which game do you think will be your toughest game, that's the game they wanna watch!!! 1 thing you gotta understand.... Some programs will always bring in Top notch schools because they generate good athletes year after year... Most recruiters are not impressed by how that player handles himself when they are winning, they are impressed how he handles himself when faced with adversity or in a big game or can you count on that person when your down an need him to block for another running back or is he to selfish...
  6. I agree, it will be hard for craigmont to stop the dual RBs from ridgeway... But they have a big job on their hands slowing down Craft
  7. Thanx... It was definitely an instant classic!!
  8. Well he did a number on Arlington defense which I think is a very good defense with some good players on it... Webber hurt them as well... 14 carries for 108 yards...
  9. 191 yards 5 touchdowns.... 2nite he was the BEST RB IN MEMPHIS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  10. To get your ankles taped, but with your cleats on... I hope that helps....
  11. Everyone says coaches shouldn't curse or swear, in the locker.... Like where are you guys from....There ain't many Jeff Fishers that coach football out there... Like in no way was he right, but I've heard waaaay worse.... And if any of your kids happen to make it to college to play any sport or go to the military then what do you think is gonna happen???
  12. Now we all kno stats don't matter.... But like everybody says, numbers dnt lie... And there are only 2 backs in this city with more rushing yards than #36... So no I will not believe that Holliday is a better back... Fairly plays Mitchell, MAHS, Oakhaven,Carver, and Hillcrest...Im sure Holliday got off on those teams with big numbers...And if #36 would have played against those teams he would of averaged 300 yards easily!!! The only 2 backs that are ahead of Roland in yards are Kimbrow and Walton... Wilkins was 4th... So I'm done with the argument cuz people lie, opinions lie, but numbers dnt.... So I guess the 3rd leading rusher in Memphis is just good enough for Millington!!! Lol... And I'm sure their will be an excuse why his numbers are better than Hollidays or Dobson or everybody else that was named... The only exception to that list is Lowe and if he wasn't hurt I'm sure he would be 3rd in the city and #36 would be fourth...
  13. And I said 4.2 or a 4.3 guy.... Richardson is a 4.3 guy(4.37 actually) so yea he is the only exception to that list... But I wasn't comparing him to none of those players... I was saying that Roland is not anywhere near the size of those running backs so how could he possibly be a full back in college...
  14. But def agree with your top 5 in that exact order... I never said he was "THE" best back in the city, I said he is definitely top 5 in the city....
  15. A fullback in college?? Was Blount from Oregon a FB in college?? Is Richardson from Alabama?? Is Ware from LSU?? Or what about Gerhart from Stanford...?? These are all guys who are way bigger than Roland... And none of them are 4.2 or 4.3 guys either... Roland is a big back compared to Memphis backs... If you go to Texas, Alabama,Georgia, or Florida running backs from there range from 5'10-6'3 and weigh between 180-240... Roland is not big at all compared to the guys I just named he just seems big cause Memphis has got accustom to the smaller type of backs or scat backs... Which in college will be put in the slot 95% of the time... And nowadays if you watch college football, if there happens to be a fullback in the game he is either your backup tigh-end or a defensive guy that they use in special packages... So him being a fullback in college is highly unlikely...
  16. Well to clear that up, the argument was is Roland a top 5 back in the Shelby-Metro area... We dnt wanna get on here and put a " " vs " " cuz I think that's tacky.... But if I'm wrong about the MUS defense then my bad... We played them last year and MUS had some BEASTS on defense... I haven't seen their defense this year, so you right I can't say last years was better.... But y'all did shutout WS and East so thats enough proof for me....
  17. And if a player is good, he's good... No matter what school they at... I'm the most unbias.... You have yet to hear me take away from any of those backs that were named.... Just like Sam Craft and Jordan from St.Benedict are by far two of the best athletes in the city.... Am I saying that Roland is the "BEST" in Memphis, no... But I am saying he's in the top 5
  18. That's the whole point I threw all those names in there an Rolands name was still amongst the top 5... Guess they are wrong or have no eye for talent either and they are coaching the guys your mentioning
  19. That's the problem in Memphis... You so worried about who people are being looked at by.... Yes it's great to be recruited by an SEC school or to sign with one... And yea I can name 4 SEC schools who has come to the school asking about Roland... So now since he's being looked at by a SEC school(s), now he's a top 5 back?? Forget his stats or his work ethic or yards after initial contact or his touchdowns??? And a guy said to me the other day, other than the RB from Wooddale nobody is as big or strong as Roland.... And trust me everybody has an eye for talent... But not everybody has an eye for skill... Let's go with some other unknown stats about Roland... No fumbles in 9 games, hasnt had a negative running play from the line of scrimmage....
  20. Ok so I talked to 6 coaches this pass Saturday, and asked them to give me the top 5 backs in the city of Memphis in their opinion.... And these coaches coach at Ridgeway,Wooddale,Trezvant, Melrose,Southwind, etc.... So they have seen most of the great backs in this city and are coaching them right now, and they said that you are crazy if you dnt put Roland in the top 5 backs in this city hands down... These are coaches, saying this... So for the whitehven senator to even say he's not a top caliber back or whatever is just funny to me... Especially when coaches that I've met off of y'all staff have said the same thing about Roland... So I guess everybody that puts Roland as a top 5 back in this city is wrong and your opinion of him not being one is the right.... And when I even brought the convo up, the looks I got were like hands down he's top 5 no question!!!!!!!! 9 carries for 193 an 3 touchdowns... And he got mayb 2 carries in the second quarter but he's not top 5... SMH
  21. So a back that's on track to have 1600 or 1700 yards and that's averaging 9.9 yards a carry is still not one of the best backs in Memphis... So I guess when he make BEST OF THE PREPS... He still won't be amongst the best... And the Highlights on here are from one game in which he had 248 yards and 5 touchdowns... And the other clip are from his junior year... And he's not one of the best in the area why?? Cuz he's a pounder type running back, or because he's not making people miss...??? I'm trying to figure it out... Any kid that runs for over a thousand yards in 7 games in my eyes has the right to be mentioned amongst the best in the city no matter where they play! But of course as usual he's not gonna get that recognition... Even when Holmes was at millington people said the same thing about him... And he was special... You can't compare the two cause they are two totally different types of running backs and play two totally different positions in the wing-T... But to get 1300 yards, when your running 95% in between the tackles is not easy, especially when I guarantee that 1100 of those yards are after initial contact...
  22. Don't kno who Marlon Brown is, but I wasn't comparing there talent, I was comparing his stats and yards to Barnes and Galloway.... And stop using the term FB cuz if we were back in the 3 man-I team like we were in the 90s he would be the 4 back(the running back who dots the i) which makes him a running back... If you ask Roland what position he plays he is not gonna say he plays fullback.... And you just proved a major point, he has a fullback frame and can run a high 4.4 or low 4.5... And you don't think he's one of the best backs in Shelby metro??? Not to mention I haven't seen anyone tackle him 1 on 1 yet... So no he's not one of the best fullbacks in the area, he is one of the best RUNNING BACKS in the area...
  23. Nevermind I see Jordan's name on there now
