  1. Everyone wants to cite states that have only one division, like California. Well, Georgia has multiple divisions, 5 I believe. Has it hurt the sport there? Not from the coaches that I have talked to frm GA. This is not a new idea and it has been proposed SEVERAL times in the past, as was the idea to change the states to a double elimination tournament, which FINALLY happened this year. Which was a good and FAIR change for the wrestlers! Yes, the smalls schools want a seperate division so they may compete on a much level playing field. Just as there are multiple divisions in Football. Should wrestling and wrestlers not have the same opportunity as all the other MAJOR sports (Football, Basketball, Baseball.) Doesn't Golf have mutliple state individual champions in Tennessee (at least a/aa and AAA? Track? Why should those sports/athletes compete against schools of similar size and wrestling does not get the same opportunity? However, if I was a coach at a small school, I would not like the fact that only the first place kid from the Region advances to the states?
  2. CONGRATS TO THE PIGEON FORGE TIGERS WRESTLING TEAM! CURRENTLY IN 4TH PLACE TEAM STANDINGS! EDWARD HOLLAND AND NATHANIEL MOLINA BOTH FOUGHT THROUGH AND TOOK 3RD PLACE! GREAT JOB GUYS!! NOW COME ON CODY DAVIS, GIVE IT ALL YOU GOT AND BRING HOME THE G O L D!!
  3. UTK 24 vs ETSU 30 (UTK Wrestler named first) 125 Ben Spires wins by Pin over Ian McKinley 141 Nicholas Johnson wins 8-3 Corey Thweat 149 Chris Baird loss by Pin to Matt Baker 165 Bryce Boucher wins 15-8 over Nick Shields 197 Harold Gage wins by Pin over Craig Carter 235 Nicholas Kendall wins by Pin over Brad Robbins UTK forfeit's 133, 157, 174, 184 (DBL), and Hwt. UTK had a couple of guys who had work committments, a couple who had major exams today (GOOD LUCK GUYS), and a couple that had work committments, including a transfer from Edinboro. The match was a late scheduled one so guys who get their adjustments made. Hopefully this will not be a problem next year. Coach Chris Goodin, Coach Craig Johnson, and myself wish we had taken this team over from the start of the season! These are some hard working guys. side notes: Harold Gage pinned his man in a WICKED Cradle! Bryce Boucher his cross training: works extremely hard at wrestling practice and then goes to Golden Gloves for practice. Bryce will be fighting in the upcoming UT Fraternity Fight which will be held at Golden Gloves Arena.
  4. Yeah, I know what you meant. Wait till you see/hear who we have coming in next years recruiting class!! Now, on a much more serious note: Some kids transfer because the grass IS greener on the other side. Some kids transfer because they have no other choice (Parents move, they do not like the current situation at their school, etc.). We/I have no control over that. But, I am always happy to welcome them into our family!
  5. Thanks RC! Lets be clear here, I just recruit for Wrestling in Pigeon Forge.

  18. University Heights Academy, KY will make its first appearance in the Smoky Mountain Duals. UHA have been a force in KY high school wrestling and it seems so far this year they are off to a very good start. 5 BLAZERS MAKE THE FINALS AT THE LONESOME INVITATIONAL The Blazers had 5 of their wrestlers make the finals at the Seneca Lonesome Invitational in Louisville on Saturday. Wade won the championship at 125 lbs, beating Central's Karlan Groves 9-0 in the finals. Cameron won the 140 lb division with a fall over Daniel Cockrell from Central. Colton was the third Blazer to claim the championship by avenging a loss two weeks ago to Seneca's Austin Reed. Taylor and Daniel both had to settle for second place with close losses in the finals. We are very glad that the Blazers are coming to our duals December 22-23.
