  1. hoosier, that is why I urge everyone to discuss these kinds of issues with direct contact with that person. I have read the entire thread and I know where it began. Embarassing yes for all that are involved, that is why I suggest that matters like these are best discussed between the 2 parties involved.
  2. Mr. Squad,no one has ever claimed that the world of TNAAU as you put it is perfect nor will it ever be because there is no way to ever make everyone happy with what a person or an organization does. There will always be critics, much like yourself. Criticism can be very good and constructive. It pushes us to keep making improvements and address the areas which there seem to be a concern or a problem. We always have and hopefully always will. I even looked into your complaints concerning each and every issue of a tournament held in Pigeon Forge a couple of monthes back. From complaints on the officials to the deer chili which you detested so much. What I found out: The Officials: the assigner of officials had 4 refs back out of calling the event on very short notice, 3 of them the day before and all of them certified TSSAA officials.. He called several more but due to prior committments or illness other TSSAA officials could not be hired. So was the options: go with 8 refs on 6 mats. Could have done that, but the event would not have ended until about 10-11 PM Saturday night. Or option 2, go with 3 of our local AAU Officials, (have a TSSAA official or Tournament Committee person observing the new/younger ones as an extra set of eyes) and run all the mats with 11 officials. The decision was made to do the latter. The Deer Chili: I looked into this matter as well. I am a very good cook and I make a dang GREAT chili, so I consider myself an expert. I tried the deer chili and it was wonderful. Had great flavor and texture! The only complaint I had for the Chili is it was not spicy enough (anyone who knows me knows that I LOVE FOOD THAT IS SPICY!) So Mr Squad, keep doing what you are doing. If you see something that TeamTN can do better or if you observe something that is being done wrong, please identify it for us. This way we can keep improving what we do and how we do it. Also, the invitation that I extended to you 2 monthes ago still is open. If you really want to be involved but feel that your opinion is not wanted, just call me: 865-755-7872. The offer then was a sincere one as it is now. I was really looking forward to learning more about Track Wrestling and you stated that at one time you tried to share this information with TeamTN and no ne would listen. I will listen and I want to learn more about it.
  3. Things happen when emotions run high. Things get said, that do not display a persons true character at times like this. It just does not serve our sport well when we have individuals (regardless of what the letters of the organization are they belong). You are quick to judge people based on an emotional outburst or two. You do it it to keep things stirred-up. I recognize this because I too do this on occasion but not as often as I used to. I realized what a waste of time and effort it is (but I know it can be enjoyable for a giggle or two for the one who stirs it up). This is one reason why I stated that it would be better for all involved (the individuals and the organizations they too: TeamTN AAU, USA, AAA, Republican Party, Democratic Party, Baptist Church or any church,, NRA, NAACP, PETA, ...whatever organization they belong to) would just get together and discuss the situation and resolve the situation. Like people used to. It still works.
  4. I understand shaner, what I suggested is that its time to end this discussion on here and get together in private and discuss this matter. It does not do any good for anyone involved or not involved to air this type of discussion on a public forum. john Salter's contact info is out there, just google his name and a wrestling flyer will come up with the info.
  5. Interesting! I will bring it up at the Spring meeting! I like it the idea.
  6. Rarely does a K wrestle a 5th grader. Usually, the weight classes match up within 2 years of age of the participants. I urge all of you on here to please stop this type of discussion/banter on this public forum. It is accomplishing nothing and is not deserving of quality of men that I know some of you are. Discuss it in person. Make a phone call. Email each other. I have known and worked with John Salter for many years. Most things we agree on and some we did not but we always could discuss it like men (not on public forums). He has done many things for the sport in his area and the state.
  7. I believe the plan as of now is to have the Medal Matches begin as soon as the 5th place matches fro each session have ended. So the last matches of the day will be the medal matches.
  8. We are working with Track to set up a seeding/seperation criteria based on this years Regional Results. There is discussion under way about wrestling for a true second at this years event. One reason the brackets are not complete is because no one has registered yet. We wanted to get the separation criteria set before we have wrestlers sign up. Hopefully by tomorrow PM, all will be posted and sign-ups will begin. No John Salter is not quitting nor is that the reason why the brackets are not posted, If you want to view what kids will be in a bracket go to Track Wrestling, all results are posted on there. Once the separation criteria is set, Track will place the wrestlers where they go. One challenge has been with the odd number of regions, for one, for me anyway. The finals will be showcased. The round-robins will be a challenge to be showcased due to you really don't know what round will end up being the match for first and second.
  9. The correction has been made. Thank you for making us aware that the mistake had been made.
  10. Someone thought they hit the 8 but did not. It will be corrected.
  11. TeamTN will be posting the matches on Track for the TSSAA. They wanted to get a feel of how it would run. As of now, they will not be scored live, but instead will be entered as the bout sheets are turned in to the head table. Several people have volunteered to enter the results. The Div I Bracket is complete on Track. I will have the Division II Bracket posted sometime before Wednesday. We had planned on doing it today but I have a plumbing problem that has to be addressed first.

  14. I took the cell phone to my nearest U.S. Cellular dealer and they are going to contact customer service in the hopes to get the phone back to the owner.
  15. A cell phone was found by our custodian following the Pigeon Forge Top 100 tournament. It was found in the high school gym. It is a US cellular phone. I tried to look up the name of the person it belongs to or someone on their contact list but the phone is locked. I apologize for the lateness of this post but I forgot that as I was leaving after the gym was cleared out, the custodian handed it to me and I put in the backseat of my truck. I am going to take it to US Cellular in about an hour and see if they can return it to the rightful owner.
  16. The Top 100 Tournament in West Tennessee will go on as planned. The Top 100 Satellite weigh in sites at Alcoa and Halls HS have been canceled due to the extreme weather conditions. Also, due to the extreme weather conditions, the tournament that was scheduled to be held at Halls HS on Saturday had been postponed until Sunday.
  17. We have several coming from Pigeon Forge. I know one of you pointed out that you would check the names and bump your kid up to wrestle the tougher competition, as would I. However, I also know ALOT of people want to check the names to find an easier path.
  18. One reason may be that wrestling coaches and parents seem to wait until the last minute to register. Either because they want to check the weight on Thursday night prior or they simply do what most do and put it off until the last minute. Last week, on Wednesday, the Top 100 only had about 125 or so registered. By Midnight Thursday night, the number was around 515. Had the names and numbers been posted some may have viewed them on Wednesday and thought, wow, not a big or competitive tournament this will be and not registered. This weekend's event should have at or more than 600. I have been informed that there are wrestlers from TN, IN, IL, MO, AK, and KY making the trip to wrestle. No matter what event you go to this weekend, Good Luck and be safe!
  19. I stand corrected. I miss stated that the Fall event is not open to all the members, however I was incorrect. Don Barnett informed me today that the Fall meeting is open for all members and they may address the board.
  20. The AAU Officials developmental program has been working well and we have some really good young officials and we have some that need more time. We have several TSSAA officials in the greater Knoxville area that got their start in our AAU wrestling program. In our area we need more TSSAA officials, so we use our AAU tournaments to help in this manner. On Saturday, there was 1 high school wrestler calling matches. Not my first choices but when officials cancel out at such a late time, you do what you can do. 7 of the officials were TSSAA, including Don Elsea, who was the Head Official. The remaining ones are former high school wrestlers who are either in college or have graduated college, including Luke Hall (who does a wonderful job) and BJ Malone (who also does a wonderful job). We are getting better and better with the Track System. One thing I have suggested is, at each Top 100 event or any event that uses Track within Tennessee, we need coaches to identify the really good table workers. At the 3 (2 Top 100 and the Soddy Tournament) events that I have been to this year, it has taken until the end of the first session before all the table workers become comfortable using Track. By the time the event ends, they are really good at it. So, if we can identify the better table workers, maybe TeamTN can help get them to work a table at the State Tournament. This way, we have experienced table staff at each table. I want this State Tournament to be the most competitive, best run, and largest State Tournament ever held. I appreciate everything John Satterfield does and has done for the youth wrestlng program in Tennessee. He is another of the MANY givers who never asked for anything and IS ALWAYS WILLING TO HELP OUT WHENEVER ANS WHEREVER HE CAN! Instead of getting on some public forum and bitching about problems he identifies solutions and suggests them. Now "truth" I would like to learn more form you, if you are willing to share info, on the bout board changes you say can be made to make all the events better. I agree, the 20 inch monitor was not enough and I too want to make communication of bouts better for ALL. Again, I have posted my contact info on here and await your call/contact.
  21. A perfect example of how we listen. Last years state tournament was held at Stone Memorial High School, which has an outstanding facility and a group of wonderful people who know how to make a person feel welcome!! However, the state event has simply outgrown the facility. The complaints about last years state, the 2 most commonly shared, dealt with time spent at the event and the crowed facility. So, how did TeamTN respond, this years event will be held in Cookeville at a site that will allow us to use 12-14 mats, one room, and upstairs seating (Thank God!)! We do listen It cost more for this site but its money well worth it because our customers were wanting a larger venue which will only make the vent easier and more enjoyable for ALL.
  22. Truthsquad, my name is Darrel Lauderdale. My email is seaauwrestling@gmail.com My cell phone number is 865-755-7872. You can contact me at anytime (reasonable hour please with the call/text). EVERY TOURNAMENT THAT I HAVE EVER BEEN TO, AS A COACH OR DIRECTOR, HAS HAD SOME ISSUES. We have come a long way and WE HAVE LEARNED FROM MISTAKES AND WE LISTEN TO ALL SUGGESTIONS. ALL!! About the Top 100 event in Pigeon Forge. I was one of the directors and here are the only complaints that was brought to my attention or that I recognized The late start in the AM. Communication could help solve this issue. 2 reasons for the late start : 1. A few (7-8) wrestlers who weighed in at one of the satellite weigh-in sites did not get entered because their weights dod not get entered. So, here we are ready to go and then we get "hey our kid weighed in but he is not on the bracket", so, now we have to go in, add the name, renumber the bracket and repost the brackets. Then we are ready to go and then, we get "hey, my kid is not on the brackets" So, once again, we have to, enter the name, renumber the brackets, and post the brackets. Takes time to get things done right and correct. IMPROVED COMMUNICATION WOULD HELP THIS MATTER. THE BRACKETS WERE POSTED ON TRACK BY 10:45 ON FRIDAY NIGHT. IF EVERY COACH, WRESTLER, AND PARENT KNEW THIS AND KNEW HOW TO GO TO TRACK AND VIEW THEM THE ERRORS COULD BE CAUGHT EARLIER, CORRECTED, AND THE START TIME WOULD BE OK. That goes along with ENTERING YOUR WRESTLER ON TIME. Due to weather, we extended the registration. The officials: we had 14 officials lined up. on Friday, we had 9 that were going to be here. We scrambled and found 12 total, I believe. I have run over 100 events, including local youth and high school events and including National AAU events, and a few USA FS/GR events. I KNOW FOR A FACT BETTER OFFICIALS = BETTER EVENT. Now we could have, just used the 9 TSSAA officials which would have made us to use only 6 mats. Which would have meant, extending the time of the running of the event an additional 6 -8 hours. We chose to go with 9 mats and scrambled to find the better officials that we could. 2 Gyms, made this a logistical challenge, especially for the coaches. I do agree I wish this could have been better communicated prior to so coaches could make plans to have a coach at both gyms. To this I agree. Back to the officials. I had 2 situations, protests, because of a disputed call. Both complaints involved TSSAA certified officials. In both cases the coaches did not agree with the judgement calls of the officials. JUDGEMENT CALLS! REF WINS. One coach even demanded the match be re-wrestled because.... He even went and brought me a video to watch. I told him I will watch it but the call will stand. After watching it I told him, you know how I would have called it, AN ESCAPE AND NOT A REVERSAL (JUST AS TH REF HAD CALLED IT) YOU ARE NOT GOING TO GET EVERY CALL, TRUST ME I KNOW THIS. Table workers: Young yes. Could have done better: yes. However, I believe they did a wonderful job using a new system. I heard 0 complaints concerning table workers until I get on here and read your statement(s). AS FAR AS YOUR STATEMENT CONCERNING YOUR WILLINGNESS TO SHARE YOUR TREMENDOUS IDEAS OF HOW THINGS SHOULD BE DONE BASED ON YOUR OPINION, AS FAR AS I KNOW, YOU HAVE NEVER APPROACHED ME OR CONTACTED ME WITH ANY (OF COURSE I DO NOT RECOGNIZE THE NAME YOU USE ON COACH T, HOWEVER I KNOW IF THIS WAS YOUR REAL NAME, I WOULD REMEMBER YOU). YOU, ONCE AGAIN MAY CONTACT ME AT ANYTIME. I, WE DO LISTEN TO SUGGESTIONS AND IF THEY ARE GOOD SUGGESTIONS IT WILL BE SHARED AMONG THE BOARD, IF IF SO AGREED, WILL BE USED. EACH REGION HAS A MEETING AND THE MEETING TIME AND SITE ARE POSTED ON THE WEB SITE. IF YOU WISH A PERSONAL EMAIL ANNOUNCING THE INFO PLEASE CONTACT YOUR REGIONAL REP. NO, THERE IS NO LONGER AN OPEN MEETING SET TO DUE THE COST (TIME, TRAVEL, MONEY), SO INSTEAD, WE HAVE REGIONAL MEETINGS THAT ARE OPEN. EACH SUGGESTION YOU WISH TO SHARE, PLEASE SHARE AT THAT TIME. I KNOW THE HISTORY OF WRESTLING OF YOUTH WRESTLING IN TENNESSEE AND THIS ORGANIZATION. IT WAS I AND FEW OTHERS (VANDERGRIFF, CARPENTER, HUMPHRIES, TO NAME A FEW) WHO STARTED TEAMTN AND I KNOW MISTAKES HAVE BEEN MADE. I ALSO KNOW FROM EACH OF THOSE MISTAKES, WE HAVE LEARNED AND IMPROVED WHAT WE OFER AND WHAT WE DO. As far as your statement concerning no other events offered on the date of a Top 100 event. The Regional Directors voted this in to encourage participation in the Top 100 tournaments. Just like we used to do by not allowing another event in the same region on the same day. If you believe this should be changed, please contact your regional rep. Again: ALL COMPLAINTS AND SUGGESTIONS ARE HEARD. Oh, and the complaint about what font to use on a flyer: That is not a mandate from TeamTN, it is a request from the VOLUNTEER who has to post the flyers on the web site. Is it really to much to ask for event directors to use the requested font to make the life of the VOLUNTEER who runs our web site a little easier. Once again you have my contact info. If you TRULY want to share please call, however if all you want to do is #### about an officials call or bad hospitality room chili, please call. I will hear you out, take notes, and pass along your suggestions.
  23. I just wanted to give a shout out to the Wrestling Family of East Hamilton for their outstanding efforts with this past weekends TeamTN Tour of TN Top 100 Tournament. The facility was great but the work and the hospitality displayed by the people made this event a tremendous success. The East Hamilton High School Wrestlers and all the other table workers did a wonderful job! Also, Kevin Wright did another outstanding job at running the event. This marked the 2nd time in 2 weeks that I have attended and helped manage an event in the Chattanooga area (Soddy Daisy and East Hamilton) and both were conducted with GREAT Class and hospitality! Well Done Chattanooga!
