Heard Bafford was going to go to Bearden until Gaddis was going to go as far as hire a PI to see if he moved. Better quit sending your kids to FFF to work out

Bafford’s mother is from OR (grew up with her) and they live in OR. Don’t see that happening. What’s FFF, BTW? Bafford is gonna be really good. Already is.

Yea he got fired from his TA job last year and got fired from his coaching position after this season. Rang blames him for the loss to clinton albeit he does a strong case against him but to me both are at fault

During the game I found it very odd that neither Pryce Davis or Izzy Mitchell were in the game at corner, but Vonce son was, the least experienced out of all of them. 2 senior leaders on the bench in a crucial part of the game watching. I guess that’s what you’re referring to?

I will say OR always has athletes like you said so I knew there would be someone.

Since his Dad has been fired I wondered if Henderson will stay or go to Bearden or Powell

The kid is on our JV basketball team, so I assume so. Didn’t know Vonce was fired.

Porter will be more than adequate behind the OL if it stays intact. He has good size and quickness. I'm thinking OR will be better in 2024.

Most definitely. He was about 185-190 as a freshman. He has a lot of potential. Brings more pure speed to the position than Dozier had. Dozier was one of the best OR has ever had that I’ve seen, though, and that’s saying something. All of the Shawn’s - Shaun’s we’ve had, plus Jamie Redmond, Gulmire, Booker, the list goes on.

My only question is, will Oak Ridge make the return trip to Austin East next year...... Its time to add them to the schedule, Coach Denard is doing a great job with the AE program

Wasn’t that game we played against AE part of a tournament that was played at OR though? I don’t know if they’ll be on the schedule or not, to be honest. It wouldn’t bother me if they were. They’re good competition. Cherry is outstanding.

It is weird how it is on a decade cycle almost. Without Keith having the sales pitch of his son at QB to bring in people from SD, Alcoa, OR and Central yall win the game easy. Not many born and raised kids from Clinton did a lot in last year's season.

I wonder if he will be able to keep bringing in kids/keep kids there he brought in before without being able to pitch his son playing there

I’m not sure. He has that one cat on his coaching staff that runs some little camp or something and has these kids come to it, so that’s how he pulls all those kids out of other schools. I don’t know the coaches actual name, or if that’s even completely true what I’ve heard, but have heard it from multiple sources. If he keeps him on the staff, I wouldn’t doubt he’ll get more talent in there.

I think Rang has the team's attention, knows what he's doing and has a good supporting cast. I don't know if OR will have any new players this year, but the town is filling up fast.lMO.

OR is finally starting to grow it seems. It has been good to see. Been an old folks town for ages.

The thing that did not make sense to me with SC was starting the QB that he did. Kid was ok but former bball player from another school. Im guessing he was thinking he wouldve been there longer. I wouldve started the current one as a frosh and taken lumps early prepping for this past year. With all that said it did hurt Rang this season in my opinion.

Who will be the RB this year? I know the Norris QB and WR will be a good duo just don't know what else is out there.

If the kid comes back out (I’m assuming he will) the RB will be a kid named Porter. He is a rising Sophomore. Loaded with speed. If you go back and watch the CC game he came in late and ran about a 25 yard touchdown. He will be good. Not sure about the WRs, but you know OR, we never lack for athletic skill players, so I’m not worried about that really. Kids always seem to emerge. I know the Frosh and JV both had good teams, and Robertsville and Jefferson both had some really good skill talent I thought. When you combine them together, it’s always formidable. I’d guess that Henderson kid (rising Sophomore) will also get a lot of snaps at wideout this season.

Only team to lose to Clinton in several years. It happens. What team is it that you support?

It was bound to happen sooner or later. It was right on time. Every 10-15 years. It’s almost like clockwork.

Farragut was better for sure than the record they had and that has been a tough out for OR like you said, ya'll were still more talented. Bearden would have been the best win on the schedule for sure. I think there was more left on the table. Dozier had never been the one man show in the backfield like he should have been since his frosh year. Not the current guys fault due to him being in his first year, but I would imagine someone would have told him that. Unless the former HC new AD did not want to admit he wasted his talent. He could've helped them maybe win it all in '20 but he made too many deals with the dad of Jackson. Even if he wasn't let known of his mileage on the tires, if you will, he should've seen it from day 1 of spring. Partin did and won vs Clinton.

Cummings had a tougher schedule in my opinion Greenville, DB, a better Farragut team, & better Powell team. Beat Clinton and McMinn. His problem was the principal who hired him left and that same principal hired a DC that wasn't controllable.

The coaching turnover is a challenge in itself, but with the talent that was had the season should not have ended where it did when your "acting OC" won the game on the road by simply giving the ball to the best player enough to win. Go back and watch the game in the playoffs and count the touches he got, especially in the 3rd Q, for that game.

I’ll give you SC had a tougher schedule. But Rang also was working with a first year Sophomore QB. Although he ended up doing well, that’s tough, especially when the supposed SR starter ups and quits before the season starts. So there were challenges. I agree we shouldn’t have lost to Clinton, but I give them credit, they played a great game. Yeah, we should’ve given it to Dozier more, but we didn’t. End of story, and on to ‘24. I have quite a bit of confidence in Rang. His success over the years speaks for itself.

SS, I think our record would have been about if not the same had our 2022 QB returned for his Sr. year. Looking forward to the 2024 season. Lots of good high school athletes returning.

Yeah you’re probably right. Stansberry will go down as one of, if not the best QB in OR history at the end of his SR year.

I mean you gotta look at the schedule though Rang beat three good teams in my opinion. Jeff Co, Powell, and LC. LC was only down by 2 at the beginning of the 4th until the HC finally started to give it to dozier more. Partin beat clinton the first time because he gave it to dozier 40+ times. With the best RB in 5A and two great athletes that were also all state I would just say it was a down year given the talent at hand. That same talent I have been telling you that should be doing better than UVA and uncommited

Went to Farragut, and handed it to em. Even though they weren’t as good as normal, they have been an Achilles heel on our schedule for 15 years or so. Gave them their worst defeat by far. Were tied with Bearden late in the fourth, who I thought was a very good team, and besides BC put more points on their defense than anybody else. Keep things in perspective here. It was our third coach in as many seasons. I think he did about as good as you can expect for a first year coach under those circumstances. Give the guy credit. I don’t care how much talent you think he had, that’s not an easy situation. Cummings went 7-6 with basically the same guys, except for the QB.

I think Fulton will win 3A again.

They should. I don’t see anyone stopping them, unless there’s a team out west I don’t know about. I’m afraid they’re gonna drop off a bit after this season and losing the big 3. We hammered their JV by 30, so unless they have some move-in’s, they’ll drop off a bit. Of course Wright is a great coach and can work wonders. Hard not to drop off after losing the guys they’ll lose after this season.

  14. Tough 2 point loss to Fulton last night, who I think is one of the better teams in the state regardless of classification. The big 3 of the twins and Lee is hard to contain. I thought the foul on Coop was an awesome defensive play by him, and was a bad call. Would we have won if that call isn’t made? Not necessarily, but it surely didn’t help, and at the end of the day is just an excuse. It was a legitimate clean block though, if you go back and watch it. At the end of the day, though, we couldn’t take care of the basketball when we needed to the most, and I think our kids will really benefit from this game, even though we lost. It was a tremendous game and well played. No trash talking, just 2 class programs playing their tails off and competing.

I also wanted to give a shoutout to the whole Fulton program and Coach Wright for wearing those pregame warmup shirts to commemorate Brennen Scott. That was very classy of them.

So true Science! But kids can transfer in as well. Poore is a task master. Not everyone could play for him. There are a lot of kids that can thrive under his coaching and tutelage. I think the 2 previous seasons are more likely to resemble the future than this year.

I hope so. As an OR fan, I always like to see DB do well. When they aren’t playing us, at least.

Maybe grades but the bad record should not hurt if you're talented, which those three were. I mean 13 had legit D1 P5 offers before the new HC came in. My bet is HC and the ad are not pushing these kids to recruiters.

When did 9-3 become a bad or even mediocre record anyway? Tough crowd.

As a former Topper, who principalled Coach Poore in Greeneville, I hate to say this. Special things are about to happen to DB basketball for a long time to come.

That’s if kids don’t transfer out, etc. Not trying to be a Debbie downer, but you know how that is in this day and age. Always have to consider that at any program unfortunately.
