  1. Didn't these two teams scrimmage this Summer? What happened?
  2. Mr. Phish, Thank you. However, don't you also get just a little nervous when we wait and wait and wait for Benny to call the play in so QB can call a . . . run? Frankly, shouldn't a 3-year starter be able to call a few plays in certain situations? Apparently not - yet another NOT good sign about our personnel. Didn't you get a little concerned when our D was running around and McMinn was set ready to snap? I sure was. Yes, the no-huddle has been an offensive strategy for years . . . and decades. What was pretty smart was that they did it against us with much success. This team was well prepared for us - just surprised they did not pass more. I was dreading a Soddy-like pass attack that would have given us fits. Instead they ran it right at us!
  3. McMinn - you young men deserved to win - great job! Finally the TRUTH was uncovered last night. Ooltewah is a good team, not a great team deserving of the #1 ranking. McMinn is also a good team (better than Ooltewah last night) but also not a great team. We were outcoached last night - I agree with Benny about that. Our Defense keeps us in the game, but the Offense continues to sputter. State Champs need an outstanding offensive leader - either QB or RB. We, unfortunatley, have neither. Heck, even #36 didn't have an outstanding game - and we need him to have an unbelievable game every Friday night! McMinn ran the ball down our throats - which was a big surprise to me. I was amazed at their no huddle offense - while we run back and forth to determine the weak and strong side, they just change the play - brilliant! Virtually all aspects of our game were bad last night - and McMinn capitalized on all of our weaknesses. We came to a gun fight with a knife. PS - You can imagine my false glee at thinking we were actually going to win by John's kick in overtime (remember my prediction!!!) only to be humbled by McMinn's touchdown - I was the one of the Owl nation who was silent. Good luck vs. Farragut!!!
  4. NO FEAKIN' WAY! "Around the the players and coaches some" . . . are you one of the refs gettin' some dough for that back porch you need? Let's keep it fair now! Cheatin' is cheatin'!
  5. Tears, yes, if the refs throw a bad flag - for either team (I HATE the zebras!). They are there to protect the kids from injury - not to serve up some good ole' hometown cookin'. Thanks for the advice on leaving early - can I buy tickets early? Were you referring to McMinn season ticket holders?
  6. YIKES! I'm not sure that I like the idea of 9,000 cheering Cherokee fans! Question: is it hard to handle that many people to get into the game? Tyner was a real mess - waited 1/2 hour just to get a ticket. How early should we plan to get there from exit 11? How about parking? Kickoff is at 7:30, so what should we expect? Thanks! Also, this 9,000 number really makes my prediction even better - 21-21 at the end of regulation, and John kicks it through the uprights for a win! Tears will be in my eyes as I watch the owls rush the field and hoist him onto their shoulders!!!! 9,000 fans will be very quiet!
  7. WHAT? Let him hand the ball off EVERY play as far as I am concerned. Heck, he has shown more ability to run than pass anyway. Give me the WILDCAT on every couple of series. Still say that John will be the deciding factor - and yes, I will be one of the fans having a heart attack as he kicks a field goal in overtime to win. Owls 24 (2 tds rushing, 1 td defense, 1 fg) Tribe 21 (3 tds passing).
  8. 21-21 in regulation. Overtime, John kicks a field goal!!!!! Crowd goes wild! Joy breaks out all over the world! Order is finally restored! No penalties and no injuries! The kids leave everything on the filed and the Owls make the bus ride home high-fiving and smilin' like THE UNDEFEATED TEAM IT IS! 10 - 0! Go Owls!
  9. I was one of the shocked fans in the Owl stands last night. Although we were down in the first half, I was not nervous. We really have an unstoppable . . . DEFENSE. Wait, isn't the OFFENSE supposed to keep us in the game? Greene right, Greene left, c'mon! That is just too easy to defend against! If the McMinn coaches were in the stands, they had to be to laughing at us in the first half. Now i'm REALLY nervous about this week.
  10. Score: Ooltewah 28 Cleveland 21 Sloppy conditions - lots of penalties. Owls: 0 yards passing, 250 yards rushing. Cleveland: 0 yards rushing, 150 yards passing. Cleveland will try to get Owl players kicked out of game by talking smack all night long. This game will be tight - too tight. Book it Dan-o!
  11. Sir Harry - it is no secret that the defense has kept us in the #1 slot, but it will take a balanced, powerful offence to take to the title, don't you agree?
  12. I think the Owls will slide by Cleveland, but I am VERY concerned about McMinn
  13. If owls are not going to pass anyway, why not put the Goose in as QB? The kid can run like the wind!
