  1. HAHA you maryville guys are hilarious. If you wanna know who didnt play the first game read my previous post on page 2. Also i might have to work friday night does anybody know if this game will be on the radio. I know when we used to play farragut i could listen to the radio through my computer, does maryville have that link??? An answer would be extremely appreciated ... GO TRIBE!!!!!
  2. Who can we expect to be healthier? Macmen was a long time ago, I hardly remember specific players (no disrespect). No disrespect taken.. we had three offensive linemen and two defensive lineman that did not play for various reasons. Also Drew Massingale who scored the winning touchdown to beat Ooltewah was injured against Maryville in the first half.... Maryville has most polished team and coaching staff in this state and no doubt they will be prepared. Mcminn has not lost since Maryville beat them and they have A LOT of confidence in that program right now. Im not sure about predicting an upset this early in the week but definitely should be a competitive game. I was one of the many Mcminn fans that criticized Bo for blatantly calling Quarles to schedule this game(first coach to do this in 5 YEARS!!! ) but it actually turned out to be good coaching. There is not better environment to prepare kids for than Maryville stadium on a friday night. After playing the most dominant program in the state at home this team gained experience and that should help them the second time around. This should be as interesting a game as I have seen all year. Cant wait for the drive to Blount CO friday... GO TRIBE!!!!!!!!
  3. This game is close to call because as good of a staff that Bo has put together Scott Blade is right now the better coach. However Bo does have the better team in this game and Mcminn is the home team. Therefore i believe the cherokees pull this out. I hope they dont have a let down after an emotional senior night win...... GO TRIBE!!!!!!!
  4. I cannot believe Coach Monroe emphatically said on TV that the owls were "by far the better team"! Obviously they werent the better team friday night. Also i sat two seats across from Monroe when he came to scout Mcminn vs Cleveland game. He was laughing and joking during almost the whole game. Looks like Mcminn got the last laugh .... GO TRIBE!!!!!!
  5. I never said Mcminn would win it all but they def have a good chance of advancing in the playoffs with the #1 seed from that district... I also heard Benny didnt show much class after the loss but then again winners are not good losers so i cant blame him.. And again i want to reiterate that the PLAYERS won this game for the cherokees... GO TRIBE!!!!
  6. Its only fitting that after starting this thread i finish it... Mcminn won because of what? ITS PLAYERS! when it came down to it they had more heart and thats why they win in overtime 20-17! Coaching by both teams was sporadic, and you could tell this game meant alot, but bottom line it was clear Mcminn had the mindset to win and they did. Now Mcminn has the #1 seed in the playoffs.... Cant wait to hear allwayswrong and hooterville cry ...... GO TRIBE!!!!!!!!!!!
  7. HAHAHA this is a game that means nothing except to the players and their bragging rights. That being said Walker Valley is horrible oN offense defense and special teams. Bradley is big and slow. Bradley wins by default....... GO TRIBE!!!!!!
  8. I really dont understand the debate on here Mcminn is better than Ooltewah. I dont know who told you cagles practices are closed but i have always seen fans and parents at the practices. Also its no tobacco or anything in the water i havent lived in Athens for years i just know this game is ripe for an upset. The ooltewah team is walking into a buzzsaw kinda like the LSU and Kentucky game a couple years back. However i dont even need evidence to prove my point the end result will be shown tonite! Mcminn finds a way to win.... GO TRIBE!!!!
  9. I would venture to say that the same can be said in middle and east tn. Wrong because Oak Ridge had a black coach but he could not cut it as a Head Coach and was given every opportunity to do so. Another Prime example is Hillsboro this year in Metro Nashville of a Black coach given a team that has historically had a white coach and has done NOTHING this year with a team that WON the Gold Ball last year. So much for saying it is the same in middle and east Tn. I do not care what 'color' a coach is as long as his main color is WINNING and he does the most he can to help his players get ahead in life and school. True Coach Stanton Stevens was given the job at Oak Ridge but he was also given short reins to his program. He and the AD had alot of conflicting interests during his tenure there and that is why he was forced to resign. His win loss record did not help his cause , but there is not much you can do at a public school unless you are backed by the school and community... Just wanted to clear that up.... GO TRIBE
  10. Mcminn wins because of its PLAYERS... Yes i said it we have better players that Ooltewah does as a whole therefore we win, end of story...... GO TRIBE!!!!!
  11. Mcminn will win this game end of story... GO TRIBE!!!!
  12. True Mcminn lost to Maryville, but then again who hasnt lost to Maryville???.... It took nationally ranked Alcoa four quarters to secure a win at home against the rebels! Since then Mcminn has gotten healthy, played better, and won six consecutive games. This game in my mind comes down to the PLAYERS. Ooltewah trailed at halftime to a mediocre cleveland team last week, but it was expected they would probably be looking ahead to this game anyway. If both teams play their best i still give edge to the Owls because of coaching but if Mcminn plays slightly better they could pull this one out.... GO TRIBE!!!
  13. Yea big crowd lots of fans and tradition.... Benny has never lost to mcminn but that doesnt mean he cant be beat on friday.Word from Mcminns camp said they were practicing on friday, the day after they drilled walker valley 49-14. I like the enthusiasm and emphasis for the game but if they try pressure the kids too much it could back fire. I say treat it like any other game because if you let the pressure get to you(coaches), you will call plays not to lose instead of callin plays to win. if that happens kiss any dream of upsetting the #1 team in the state goodbye. Just a few words of advice .... GO TRIBE!!!!!!!!
  14. Ok guys so the stage is set for a great one in athens next week!! Mcminn will enter on a six game winning streak on their senior night for a chance at the region title for the first time in a decade, while perennial power Ooltewah lays their #1 6A ranking and undefeated season on the line. The story lines are great for this matchup. Benny Monroe returns to his old stomping grounds where he got his 1st head coaching job in the 1970s. Many forget that it was Monroe not the legendary Mullinax that lead Mcminn to its best single season performance ever. Meanwhile the young Bo Cagel plans to lead his alma mater to something he and Mcminn Co has never done, beat a Benny Monroe coached team. Since Monroe left in the mid 1970s, he has beaten Mcminn something like 24 straight times.... Anyway regardless of history this is an intruiging matchup of two very talented teams that will be on their best games in order to get a prestigous number 1 ranking in the playoffs. I personally think Mcminn, more so than previous years, has the talent and coaching to upset the owls at home in front of an energetic crowd at cherokee stadium.... Cant wait to hear from the raucous owl fans .......GO TRIBE!!!!
  15. Tribefan u are exactly right about that, under Mcminn's current staff often times they do play according to competition. Several times this year and in previous ones there have been close games with teams not as talented, but also several times mcminn has beaten teams that were more talented. However, mcminn has never lost a game it has been favored to win so im not concerned about tonites game. They may overlook tonite in hopes of upsetting Ooltewah next week because that is the region champ game (whether they lose 2NITE or not) , but believe as the evidence supports that they will squeak one out late.... GO TRIBE!!!!!
