  1. HAHA you maryville guys are hilarious. If you wanna know who didnt play the first game read my previous post on page 2. Also i might have to work friday night does anybody know if this game will be on the radio. I know when we used to play farragut i could listen to the radio through my computer, does maryville have that link??? An answer would be extremely appreciated ... GO TRIBE!!!!!
  2. Who can we expect to be healthier? Macmen was a long time ago, I hardly remember specific players (no disrespect). No disrespect taken.. we had three offensive linemen and two defensive lineman that did not play for various reasons. Also Drew Massingale who scored the winning touchdown to beat Ooltewah was injured against Maryville in the first half.... Maryville has most polished team and coaching staff in this state and no doubt they will be prepared. Mcminn has not lost since Maryville beat them and they have A LOT of confidence in that program right now. Im not sure about predicting an upset this early in the week but definitely should be a competitive game. I was one of the many Mcminn fans that criticized Bo for blatantly calling Quarles to schedule this game(first coach to do this in 5 YEARS!!! ) but it actually turned out to be good coaching. There is not better environment to prepare kids for than Maryville stadium on a friday night. After playing the most dominant program in the state at home this team gained experience and that should help them the second time around. This should be as interesting a game as I have seen all year. Cant wait for the drive to Blount CO friday... GO TRIBE!!!!!!!!
  3. This game is close to call because as good of a staff that Bo has put together Scott Blade is right now the better coach. However Bo does have the better team in this game and Mcminn is the home team. Therefore i believe the cherokees pull this out. I hope they dont have a let down after an emotional senior night win...... GO TRIBE!!!!!!!
  4. I cannot believe Coach Monroe emphatically said on TV that the owls were "by far the better team"! Obviously they werent the better team friday night. Also i sat two seats across from Monroe when he came to scout Mcminn vs Cleveland game. He was laughing and joking during almost the whole game. Looks like Mcminn got the last laugh .... GO TRIBE!!!!!!
  5. I never said Mcminn would win it all but they def have a good chance of advancing in the playoffs with the #1 seed from that district... I also heard Benny didnt show much class after the loss but then again winners are not good losers so i cant blame him.. And again i want to reiterate that the PLAYERS won this game for the cherokees... GO TRIBE!!!!
  6. Its only fitting that after starting this thread i finish it... Mcminn won because of what? ITS PLAYERS! when it came down to it they had more heart and thats why they win in overtime 20-17! Coaching by both teams was sporadic, and you could tell this game meant alot, but bottom line it was clear Mcminn had the mindset to win and they did. Now Mcminn has the #1 seed in the playoffs.... Cant wait to hear allwayswrong and hooterville cry ...... GO TRIBE!!!!!!!!!!!
  7. HAHAHA this is a game that means nothing except to the players and their bragging rights. That being said Walker Valley is horrible oN offense defense and special teams. Bradley is big and slow. Bradley wins by default....... GO TRIBE!!!!!!
  8. I really dont understand the debate on here Mcminn is better than Ooltewah. I dont know who told you cagles practices are closed but i have always seen fans and parents at the practices. Also its no tobacco or anything in the water i havent lived in Athens for years i just know this game is ripe for an upset. The ooltewah team is walking into a buzzsaw kinda like the LSU and Kentucky game a couple years back. However i dont even need evidence to prove my point the end result will be shown tonite! Mcminn finds a way to win.... GO TRIBE!!!!
  9. I would venture to say that the same can be said in middle and east tn. Wrong because Oak Ridge had a black coach but he could not cut it as a Head Coach and was given every opportunity to do so. Another Prime example is Hillsboro this year in Metro Nashville of a Black coach given a team that has historically had a white coach and has done NOTHING this year with a team that WON the Gold Ball last year. So much for saying it is the same in middle and east Tn. I do not care what 'color' a coach is as long as his main color is WINNING and he does the most he can to help his players get ahead in life and school. True Coach Stanton Stevens was given the job at Oak Ridge but he was also given short reins to his program. He and the AD had alot of conflicting interests during his tenure there and that is why he was forced to resign. His win loss record did not help his cause , but there is not much you can do at a public school unless you are backed by the school and community... Just wanted to clear that up.... GO TRIBE
  10. Mcminn wins because of its PLAYERS... Yes i said it we have better players that Ooltewah does as a whole therefore we win, end of story...... GO TRIBE!!!!!
  11. Mcminn will win this game end of story... GO TRIBE!!!!
  12. True Mcminn lost to Maryville, but then again who hasnt lost to Maryville???.... It took nationally ranked Alcoa four quarters to secure a win at home against the rebels! Since then Mcminn has gotten healthy, played better, and won six consecutive games. This game in my mind comes down to the PLAYERS. Ooltewah trailed at halftime to a mediocre cleveland team last week, but it was expected they would probably be looking ahead to this game anyway. If both teams play their best i still give edge to the Owls because of coaching but if Mcminn plays slightly better they could pull this one out.... GO TRIBE!!!
  13. Yea big crowd lots of fans and tradition.... Benny has never lost to mcminn but that doesnt mean he cant be beat on friday.Word from Mcminns camp said they were practicing on friday, the day after they drilled walker valley 49-14. I like the enthusiasm and emphasis for the game but if they try pressure the kids too much it could back fire. I say treat it like any other game because if you let the pressure get to you(coaches), you will call plays not to lose instead of callin plays to win. if that happens kiss any dream of upsetting the #1 team in the state goodbye. Just a few words of advice .... GO TRIBE!!!!!!!!
  14. Ok guys so the stage is set for a great one in athens next week!! Mcminn will enter on a six game winning streak on their senior night for a chance at the region title for the first time in a decade, while perennial power Ooltewah lays their #1 6A ranking and undefeated season on the line. The story lines are great for this matchup. Benny Monroe returns to his old stomping grounds where he got his 1st head coaching job in the 1970s. Many forget that it was Monroe not the legendary Mullinax that lead Mcminn to its best single season performance ever. Meanwhile the young Bo Cagel plans to lead his alma mater to something he and Mcminn Co has never done, beat a Benny Monroe coached team. Since Monroe left in the mid 1970s, he has beaten Mcminn something like 24 straight times.... Anyway regardless of history this is an intruiging matchup of two very talented teams that will be on their best games in order to get a prestigous number 1 ranking in the playoffs. I personally think Mcminn, more so than previous years, has the talent and coaching to upset the owls at home in front of an energetic crowd at cherokee stadium.... Cant wait to hear from the raucous owl fans .......GO TRIBE!!!!
  15. Tribefan u are exactly right about that, under Mcminn's current staff often times they do play according to competition. Several times this year and in previous ones there have been close games with teams not as talented, but also several times mcminn has beaten teams that were more talented. However, mcminn has never lost a game it has been favored to win so im not concerned about tonites game. They may overlook tonite in hopes of upsetting Ooltewah next week because that is the region champ game (whether they lose 2NITE or not) , but believe as the evidence supports that they will squeak one out late.... GO TRIBE!!!!!
  16. This game could get ugly and early. The tribe dropped 20 first half points on a good soddy daisy team despite their record. The cherokees are used to good starts and are described as their coaches as a "second half team" but if walker valley comes out sluggish in the early going mcminn has proven they can take advantage of mistakes. Ables is continuing to improve every week and Mcbee has emerged as yet another weapon in the potent cherokee offense. Mcdermott is finally turning into the dominant player that coaches around the southeast know he can be with his 4 all-purpose tds last friday. Mcminn is by far the most talented team and if walker valley looks ahead to next weeks rivalry game this could be the second consecutive blowout for mcminn.... GO TRIBE!!!!!
  17. HAHAHAHAH!!!! is all i have 2 say!!!!!!! I told you the Bradley defense could not stop Mcminn offense for 4 quarters and thats EXACTLY what happened. You could not get off the field so we wore you down. Mcbee and Massingale ( 2 other players than Ables and Mcdermott) scored touchdowns! Oh yea and we won the game for the 9th straight time!! 2 bad Bear fans better luck next year!!... GO TRIBE!!!
  18. Do you really want to talk about losses, and quality wins? As far as polk , i would bet a 100 bucks that polk would beat your tribe at a neutral site( we know what its like to play at mcminn)As far as Bennet goes, you can have him!Floyd and Ford have a much better "D" this year--- with the kids that bennet didnt think were good enough! Ables, mcdermott are good i will give you that, but you HAVE NOT beat a team this year as good as BC!! As far as easy goes, i bet that freshman lights up the score board, remember your not at home this year!!!!!!!! Haha your kidding right??? Cookeville was ranked 8th in state when we beat them last week!! Who have you beaten with a winning record???.. And dont talk about home field advantage when you havent beat a Mcminn team since the new millenium!!! Also if those coaches "D" was so good why hasnt it not shown in their record? TheY could end up with a worse record this year!!.. And the freshman may have a bright future but he has yet to light up the scoreboard on anybody and he definitely wont in this rivalry game... Mcdermott and Ables are good but the best thing about this team is that there are 26 good seniors not just those two. Mcminn will win...... GO TRIBE!!!
  19. Hahaha get real even Polk Co said he was ashamed of his teams forty times and refused to time most of his team this pre-season. Also they are not an outstanding team, Alcoa is an outstanding team(six straight state titles on their way to another one)... Oh yea and Bradley defense is FAR from Mike Tyson lets be serious!!! They are decent ill give them that but far from dominant any phase of the game. D-line is ok, linebackers decent, and d-backs moderate to say the most. Bradley will be exposed on Friday. Remember Bear fans that yalls wonderful running back from a year ago is gone..... McMinn is by far not a powerhouse in its own right but they do have the edge mentally, physically, and their coaches have historically better records. It would take a momentous effort from Bradley and alot of turnovers and mistakes from Mcminn for this game to not go as planned.
  20. Bradley lost against two mediocre 3A teams after getting off to a fast start. You can blame coaches and scheme all you want but the bottom line is it comes down to the players making plays. If bradley doesnt have enough skill to stop a slow Polk Co. team(less than two players run better than 4.7) i highly doubt their defense can control Mcminn's passing attack. In addition the cherokee defense is now playing better and their defensive coordinator was Bradley's last year so he obviously knows their personel first hand and will have a game plan ready. The key to beating Bradley is simple: stop the run!!!!!!!! Once the run is stopped it will be easy to blitz the freshman quarterback and the game will virtually be Mcminn's to loose.... GO TRIBE!!!
  21. Again, like i told the Bradley fan, its not always about a kid "you think" is talented enough to play. Heck if it was talent alone there would be no need for coaches or working out, either you would be good or you wouldnt. However, that is not the case and this is not the football of the 1980's of 90's for that matter. Today high school systems are sophisticated and require an athlete to be mentally strong as well as physically strong. Also, this is 6A football not pop-warner! If a kid plays both ways its because he gives his team the best chance to win! The best players should play on both sides of the ball because if they dont there is no way a team will win in Tn's highest classification.... GO TRIBE!!!
  22. The problem is not depth, the bears have depth, the problem is the depth is rarely or never on the field, the bears have alot of players that really get up set if they dont get there playing time. And coaches that wanna make it happen for them. They have even made plays to get players in the game to keep them from quitting. and its not a bad idea if you want them back for next year. My opinion is that alot of the time the best talent is on the sideline instead of in the game . this Bears Team is one of the most talented teams in Tn. and they really wanna win, but on their terms and it just does not work that way when you play the better teams, so if things don't change look for another defeat this week a good game but another defeat . I truly believe if the Bears would try an do the right thing good things would happen, if not look for more defeats and no play offs I hate if that is the case because i believe the best players should play no matter what. We had a similar issue at McMinn when i played and thats why we never advanced out of the first round of the playoffs. However, the problem is how do you know what player is better than another? Unless you are there everyday in practice, film study, the weight room, the classroom, scrimmages, and the locker room you have no idea if a player is ready or not! I know as a fan we all think we know who should be playing and where but to be honest the coaches that spend 20-30 hours a week really do know best. I know from experience its not always the most talent players that should be playing if they are not mentally ready... GO TRIBE!!!
  23. I believe that this should be another good intense matchup like it was last year. In the end i think the inability of Bradleys defense to shut down a good Mcminn offense will be the determining factor. Ables is an improving passer, Mcdermott and Smith continue to compete for catches, and Massingile is getting used to his running back position. Bradley has a lot better team than in recent years, but they still lack the overall depth to compete at the highest level for four quarters. However im always open to debate so come on BEAR fans im waiting ... GO TRIBE!!!!!!!
  24. "Pigeons" No need for this kind of crap talk on here, Trivialguy, I mean Tribeguy. Haha funny, NOT. Listen we have beat you guys every single year since 2005 and you guys continue to schedule us for your homecoming. Why your administration has a lack of respect for our program continues to baffle me. Homecoming is supposed to be against an easy win. In 2005,2007, and now 2009 we beat YOU each time!!! Get it through your thick skulls you will not beat us!... Oh yea, my prediction was right we won by double digits yet again. Just sayin .... GO TRIBE !!!!
  25. The Cherokees are going to embarass the eagles(more like pigeons) on the homecoming once again!! Cy throws for over 200 and 4total tds. Defense is very inconsitant and remains that way so we win a shootout very similar to last year. Cherokees 30? Eagles 26?...... GO TRIBE!!!!!
