  1. I hardly call 1 substained drive and 2 SHORT field position scores...a reason to be day dreaming..lol.
  2. Coaching, athleticism and a secret water filtration system that the twin cities developed jointly and installed in all local elementary school lunch rooms. LOL seriously the first two are correct and one that rarely gets mentioned is pride and tradition. Now all my Alcoa brethren on here know that I am a Maryville fan and alum but I feel very qualified to answer this question. I know that everyone has some type of pride and tradition in their school but let me give you an example of what I'm talking about. this past summer while hitting balls at the local driving range I ran into GQ and introduced my 4 year old son to him and explained that he was the Rebels head coach, not a big deal where most are from, however my son would not have been more in awe if it had been Peyton Manning. 2 1/2 months later we ran into him again and he called my son by name and every since then my son has referred to him as my coach. I'm sure the Alcoa fans on here know exactly what I'm talking about, how many 4-8 year olds are running around at the game that can not wait for their turn to wear the maroon and gray and run out of that smokin helmet? I'm sorry for hi-jacking your thread but felt the need to answer this one. Game day tornados I hope you all have a safe trip and bring another gold ball back home to Blount County!!! BTW don't let that F5 blow too hard today cause it looks like it's gonna blow a snow storm in here tomorrow!!! Your exactly right matback. The kids grow up wanting to play for these teams. There's a lot of pride in Alcoa and Maryville. Good luck to the Rebels and thanks for the support... Your right..great story. But you "eastern-ers" act like pride and tradition only runs thru that side of the state! I am SURE Blount county has TONS of pride and tradition, as well they should..but so does Milan! Everything you say about your team and your community run the same for ours. Ask anyone in West TN, the fans with the most pride(hence the confidence in the trash talk), the best turnouts, the greatest atmosphere, I guarantee you Milan is at the top. So I say this, "this is not what makes us different, but maybe what makes us the same... " GO DAWGS! Milan 24- Alcoa 21
  3. BTW does anyone have a good radio station that will be streamed online for this game? The one that the Milan page usually displays will never load over here, and I'm too far away for any kind of listening to a radio. Thanks!
  4. Gratz to J. Toney! From everything I've heard a great kid along w/ being a great player, so great for him!! He deserves it! Go DAWGS!
  5. Got a bad feeling for the maroon teams this weekend...
  6. They limited Alcoa to 3-5 yard gains instead of 7-10 yard gains. But....the score was a little misleading. Up to that point Alcoa had a dropped TD pass, 2 ints, and a failed 4th down conversion on the 12 or 15. There were probably 3-4 trips inside the 20 where they didn't score. It's not that Loudon was shutting them down, Alcoa didn't execute once they got there (very unusual). But a lot of that was due to the physical play of Loudon and their discipline on defense. Here's the thing with Alcoa that you will discover on Friday. They will take 6-8 minutes off the clock on a long drive. They play clock control on offense; not b/c they are afraid of the other teams offense but b/c this is their strategy....Keep their offense on the field the whole game. This happened a couple of times against Loudon but on those drives they didn't get any points. The yardage is lopsided but the score seems lower. For example in the 1st game vs CAK they outgained them 410-99, but the score was 24-7. Seems close....but Alcoa took at least 5 mins off the clock each time they had the ball. This has happened all year. But there is no question who is in control of the game. OK. I'm so glad you brought this up. Let me give you a dose of what Alcoa seems to be giving us about the York game: "Ya'll play like that this week...Milan will be up by 21 pts at halftime!" Weird huh? Now we are not so much different.
  7. Wanna talk about a chip being on a shoulder?? Ask Milan. They get no respect for going 14-0 two years in a row. I don't believe anyone has gotten on here and said they will blow Alcoa away, the way Alcoa is talking about them. average Alcoa fan: "Milan will be another tick mark. They can't hang, not even close..Alcoa by 30" average Milan fan: "Milan will have to play perfect football, and hope for some breaks. Alcoa is great..Milan by 3-7" Now tell me what highschool football fan would NOT pick their team in this situation. If you don't, I dare call you a fan. Rest assured Milan knows whats in front of them, but that doesn't mean they are timid, and that doesn't mean their fans don't believe in them. I honestly believe Milan can and WILL hang with this Alcoa team all game, even though I haven't seen a game in person all year from either team. You don't think Avery Williamson has a chip on his shoulder?? Who most teams Milan played this year, call the best LB in the state! I wouldn't doubt if he broke his own record on you guys this year. You talk about your DL being so good..I am SURE it is, they were great last year. But I hope you have some strong DB's...because they are gonna get a hefty dose of a Gilbert stiffarm. Milan has the tools and the coaches to win this game. I have said for 6 weeks now, Milan 24- Alcoa 21, and maybe not a last second field goal..but the kicking game will be deciding factor. ie. field position. GO DAWGS!!
  8. Wow...you have mastered the use of the internet well, Dr. Phil. Truth is, NOBODY said that East TN football was not good. Milan, as previously stated, played the hand they were dealt..as did Alcoa. You know there IS a way we can find out if Loudon and CAK can beat Milan..you guys beat Alcoa, then we will beat you. Next...
  9. Everyone in the west knows alcoa will be there, everyone in the east knows alcoa will come back champs. They are supporting their region. Do you expect them to cheer on milan? They just know what milan is in for, and they feel their programs could compete with them. When will a team from the west step up for one game? GREAT point JohnnieHale!! now you on the other hand MC-Hammer, seem to be making your own excuses and trying to justify something that was just blatantly put in front of your face..sorry, nobody's buying it.
  10. HAHAHA...now that IS funny. Alcoa's defense may be top notch for sure, but Milan averaged almost 40 pts a game this year, to think they will not score on ANYONE'S 1st team is ridiculous! Im not gonna get on here and say they will blow Alcoa out or vice versa. But give credit where credit is due. They are too balanced, they WILL find ways to score. I do not believe that is in Alcoa's gameplan, if so, they are going to be very unhappy with themselves. They cannot stop Milan offense, only hope to contain it enough to outscore them. Which won't be easy, because right behind Alcoa's D, is Milan's D. I think there are not 2 better teams matched up in the state. They are very evenly matched with different strengths and weaknesses in areas. I believe if Milan can get a quick score on them, Alcoa playing from behind would be a little out of their norm. Maybe cause them to go to the air a couple times, which Milan would love. I also believe the Milan kicking game will play a HUGE part in this game. Congratulations to 2 awesome football teams, and my prediction stands Milan 24 vs. Alcoa 21. Good luck DAWGS from 7k miles away
  11. Dude - Alcoa is going to run the ball. It is what they do. They will not throw the ball 15 times next week and might not throw it 5 depending on what happens early. They will live and die by the run....... #2 your missing my point here man. I am agreeing w/ you that IS what Alcoa does, I'm just stating that the only teams that have stayed close with Milan this year threw the ball on them. I don't think Alcoa will throw it. They WILL run it, and our run defense is our strong point, and I too..hope they die by that run first, run second philosphy next Friday
  12. LOL you know your not worth a reply to your post ..... to the milan football players that were hurt I wasn't throwing a cheap shot at you and I do hope that you have a speedy recovery. I would not wish hurt and pain on you or any other child..... I was only on here to state that our boys played great football against you and was not pounded as stated...As for the trip home it was great the boys came to Milan to play in the semi finals and thats what they did ..no bruised ego here...Have a safe trip and I hope you have a great game friday night...... Go ahead and try to sweep it under the rug, but you know backpedaling is even hard when the ground is one fire. DO NOT get on here and run out of excuses for your teams loss and ie..I've heard turnovers, refs, they played in Milan, more athletes, blah blah blah then you bash our hurt players. If you want a chance to play at your coveted "mountain" you talk about win regular season games!! I hope and pray that you do next year, because I want it to be Milan that comes to your precious mountain and beats you like a drum...again. I'll get to be there for that one, and there will be plenty of "game stats" to be posted for all York fans. Your kids played a GREAT ball game, your coaches are very good, you guys will have a good team. But, dont take away from our GREAT team by bashing them, and the kids.
  13. Hang on Johnny! I dont like commenting on other threads, but since you brought it up.... If our "first string" guys played just to mercy rule people, Toney would probably have at least 60 touchdowns on the season, maybe more???? Fair enough, that was in no way a knock towards Toney..he is a great football player and from what I hear a great kid too. Just using his numbers as a measuring stick is all. I agree though, you guys have put some teams away quick this year also. Wish I could be at the game Friday
  14. When you are as good as Alcoa, you don't have to throw it. I don't believe they even passed the ball 1 time when they beat Maryville. I love how you cut out a piece of that post to make it sound watered down..Kinda like a "survey" with 5 ppl huh? Ok so since you obviously missed the meaning of the post. People were comparing how Milan struggled with York in the first half. York came out throwing, caught Milan on their heels a bit, if they would have tried to run the ball at Milan (i.e. the way Alcoa will TRY) they might as well have stayed on the bus. They had a GREAT gameplan. But Milan has GREAT coaching and GREAT players that adapted and overcame. I was merely saying, unless Alcoa is going to come up passing the ball 25 times in the first half, I dont see Milan having a problem with their running game dominating them. Milan is too quick and too good to the ball. Milan 24 vs. Alcoa 21. GO DAWGS
  15. Home?? Hmm..yeah I remember where that is. Isn't that where you were this Friday night, and you'll be next Friday at 330 too?? Yeah..home...
