  1. East Robertson won 4-2. Tough game friday against Cornersville at East Robertson 7:00 pm.
  2. Good luck to you! I never say anything about officiating because I have always said that I wouldn't have their jobs but tonight was ridiculous. Again, I think these two teams will play some good ball this season...just wished we could have seen some of it tonight.
  3. ER lost by 2 at home to Houston Co tonight. Worst officiating I have ever seen in my life, not because ER lost but because there were 57 team fouls called. 57!! Girls game was worst but 57 fouls? TSSAA should be ashamed because we paid $5.00 tonight to watch officials blow their whistles. It was bad on both teams. Fans for both teams were not happy! Let the kids play!!! Would have really liked to see these two teams play because they both have some athletes. Neither team could get in a flow. Hats off to Houston Co because they did what they needed to at the end to pull it out. Birdman...I know this is boys forum but how did CA and Merroll Hyde girls game turn out?
  4. I think CA is the top team in this District. I believe without injuries, they are poised for another State Tourney run. Could be a great year, if they keep their focus. Now, in no particular order after CA finishes first! NCS, as everyone has stated, has some extremely good shooters. That is good, if they are hitting. Seen them play three times last year and once this year, if they are hitting the 3's...can play with anyone. If they are not hitting 3's...very average team. Not a knock on the team, just stating facts about their style of play. Houston Co has inside post play and good point guard. If role players can step up, I like this team. Had a couple of good years but new coach so don't know if the "togetherness" is there as a team yet. WH Heritage has size but a young team. Lost only one starter but team has struggled early on. Not sure that the team has truly bought into Petrone's system or if they want to play his brand of basketball. The one game I seen this year was a blow out and did not see much team play. I am sure that Petrone will change that, but how long will it take for kids to buy it? JB struggles this year. Just an observation, but I think with the success of football, it has to be that much harder for their coach to convince kids to play basketball. Merroll Hyde is a first year District team so I have nothing to elobrate on them. McEwen is fun bunch of kids to watch. You never know what you are going to get but this one thing I know---they hustle and play hard!!! They will win and compete for the 2nd or 3rd place team in this District. ER is a team that I am still trying to figure out. One night, they play as if they can compete with anyone. On the next night, very poor effort. As a fan, very frustrating. We just want some consistency. The key for this team is point guard play and defense. Point guards are trying to be too "cute" with their ball handling and passes, while the defense has been horrible so far. Woodard has been moved to more of 3 or 4 spot on the floor and away from the point guard position. He will handle ball some and late in game, ball will be in his hands. He is a good kid that is misunderstood by a lot of opposing teams. With that said, I am not making excuses for him because sometimes we get aggravated with the lack of effort or the trash talking. If he stays focused and doesn't get caught up with "show boating", he can be very good. He will be the quickest player on the floor on most nights. 2 or 3 very good shooters but lack any post play or post defense will cause us to have a long year. Good luck to all teams!
  5. Thank you very much! We really enjoy our basketball in Cross Plains. Again, good luck to all teams as District play starts tonight.
  6. Strictly as fan of basketball, I think District 10A is one of the weakest districts in the state. I think it will be a long year for most of the teams of 10A. With that said, I think Houston Co and McEwen have to be the favorites. You can throw ER, Heritage, NCS, and CA names in hat and whomever you pick could be the 3rd, 4th, etc place teams in district. Houston Co has a lot of talent and are young. Like the coach and think he will do well this group. McEwen always has athletes and shooters. Coach has been there for awhile and has some tradition to build on that most of these teams don't have. Heritage has a first year coach and lost a lot of talent. I have seen them twice this year and not much to speak of. That is not a slam against Heritage, just an observation. It is still early in the season and they may come around. Ray is all they have. I like there size but Post Players need to develop and learn to finish. NCS has Hulan, although I have not seen her in box scores of late. They have one scorer but not very deep. CA has Cross as point guard, one shooter, and one post player with size. They will compete but don't see a lot of scoring. Merroll Hyde is first year in District so have not seen anything from them to respond. Jo Byrns is very young and they have a long year in front of them. Love their coach!!! ER is very young. I think they have 6 freshman and 5 or 6 sophmores. Only 2 seniors. All size and/or post play was lost last year. Also lost point guard so ER is in a rebuilding year. As a fan, I love to watch Coach Evans coach these girls. I think he is a very underated coach and would love to see what he could do with some talent minus some of the attitude he has had to deal with the last couple of years. If these girls ever sell out 100% to his program and his defensive strategies, watch out. They have struggled to this point in the season playing teams like Macon Co, Station Camp, White House and Portland. All these teams are either AA or AAA which is hard for a small school like ER to compete with on a regular basis. I think Houston Co beats ER by 6, Heritage beats NCS by 10, and CA to win by 3. Good luck to all teams!!!
  7. Seen several JB fans last night, even a few cheering on ER...appreciate the support. Big win for ER but have to maintain focus and discipline for a huge game @ FCS. Tough place to play against a very good FCS team. Should be a good game and hope the ER fans will travel to support our team.
  8. Congrats WHH on first playoff win in school history! Good luck next week!
  9. Good job ER and congrats to Watertown on a great season! Big win and great job by ER players/coaches of keeping their focus. Big game next week @ FCS.
  10. We lost the Jo Byrns game only because we did not keep our composure. We have made several changes on defense since that game. Our kids will be focused and they have done a good job since the JB loss, along with the coaches, of staying focused and playing within themselves. As I have said earlier in this thread, should be a great first round game in the playoffs. ER has the slim advantage only because they are playing at home.
  11. I agree. The loss to Richland, back in 2005...I think, was a tough loss but I think that our kids will be better prepared because the coaches this week will keep them focused. Big game for our kids, especially since this is the first year not being in same district with Goodpature, CPA, and all the other private schools. Our offense will move the ball and will score points. As I said earlier, defense for us is the key.
  12. I agree that it was a little deceiving...especially being the first game of the season. ER was on a roll going into Heritage game. Final score was a little deceiving in that game as well because ER dominated from start to finish in horrible weather/field conditions. With all that said, it will be a good first round game.
  13. I think ER at home will be tough. The only common opponent during the regular season is Heritage. Heritage beat Watertown 42-19 and ER beat Heritage 19-6. Should be a good game if ER kids keep their head in the game. ER will score points so the key will be defensive play. I hear Watertown has a good QB. Very interesting first round game in my opinion.
