  1. I'm just curious! Are all of you guys on the same officiating crew? I think I might have seen you a couple of weeks ago!
  2. Final 60-13. There's not a lot more to say about this game! I was really disappointed that West Greene scored on a kickoff return against the Panthers first string special teams. # 12, Micah Mocier is quick, but not that quick. It was poor coverage all the way. First the Panthers overran the play, and nobody stayed deep in the middle. Wrong, Wrong, Wrong! You can't get away with that against anybody, and the Buffs made them pay. On a positive note; I liked the team play from Zeth Clemons when he ran untouched from the 15 for an apparent TD, but made a cut, and ran 20 more yards to the sidelines, then stepped out at the 1. He did that so his high school team mate for 4 years, including 1 year at Powell Valley, Chad Hall could get the score. Chad was an incredible lineman his sophomore season, and appeared destined for first team All-State honors before he graduated. He sat out much of last season with a torn meniscus in one knee, and went down in game 2 this season with the same type injury in his other knee. I thought we wouldn't see him on the field again. Congratulations #76! I don't know how many TD's you have in your career, but you certainly earned the one on Senior Night! Later in the game, Justin Peters also gave up a TD by stepping out at the 1, but Brad Beason had to carry it in before a delay was called. Sometimes you just can't get those defensive linemen lined up properly in the offensive backfield!
  3. Regardless of their records, in odd number years, odd numbered Regional chamions have home field advantage until they either lose, or go to Murphreesboro. Two teams that are seeded evenly are decided by odd & even. Otherwise the higher seeded team is at home. The brackets have been on TSSAA's website for several weeks. They have probably started filling in some names by now. The Region 1 & 2 brackets that include Cumberland Gap, Alcoa, and Claiborne(AAA), are also at http://www.PinnacleSportsView.com. Another note: Oliver Springs won last night, so they are Region 2AA #4.
  4. You've got it RB@FBC! Good luck to both teams! Do you have an update on Jared Liles? I still haven't spoken with Barry.
  5. Yes I did! We got there late, so my Granddaughters didn't get to cheer with the Panther Cheerleaders. They were so cute in their Tennessee outfits though. The only thing I saw that really needs to be improved was having the band help pump up the crowd. I love high school marching bands! I love big parades too! Oliver Springs didn't mean any harm, but they pulled our coaches away from the pep rally by playing on the same night. They clinched 4th place in Region 2AA with their win last night, and will be our opponent for sure next week. Rockwood is officially eliminated.
  6. You've got it Big T! Every team out there has a player whose teammates look up to and say "We wouldn't have been this good without him". The Panthers also have more than one. But, the Best of the Best is indeed Zeth Clemons! Before I would even look at another team, I would look at Ryan Hoskins as a very close 2nd.
  7. We will be looking for new senior leadership next season, Tyler! Go Git R Done!
  8. I agree completely! And the post season crowds are usually a lot bigger. The excitement level is increased. Everyone there is in a "Do or Die" situation! I get pumped up just thinking about being in the playoffs! Who out there wants to be robbed of that feeling?
  9. Just 2 more hours until the Pep Rally! I think I'm going to make it, and bring my Granddaughters. I almost wish I could go see Oliver Springs play tonight, but the girls would have more fun at the rally.
  10. I was being facetious! Before you look that up in the dictionary, let me add that it's pronounced fa-see-shus, and it is a unique word with all of the vowels in order. Truth is, I wouldn't want abuse from Mike Tyson, OR a hometown crowd for $75 per week! See, I'm winking and laughing!
  11. Thanks Coalman! I know that you're proud down at Alcoa too! You folks have something that we don't have yet, called tradition. We're proud to eat crumbs, because we've been pretty hungry around here. Maybe one of these days we can eat some back-to-back cake! The kids here are great (I hardly ever have to scold one), and the fans have a brand new infestation of excitement. I went to school in Kentucky, and live in Campbell County. I came to know the Panthers personally by broadcasting their games on WLMU radio (from Lincoln Memorial University). One of the underlying reasons I want to see Cumberland Gap advance to round 3, is to see all of the Alcoa fans pouring in. I would say into town, but we don't really have a town to pour into.
  12. We read the first post pinky! Thank you for that information, but you left us waiting for the results of the MRI! When you say "out this week", do you mean out of the line up for only 1 game, or that he has been in the hospital since last Friday?
  13. I can only speak for myself on this one! I'm just trying to get the number of my posts up! LOL I want see what comes after trainer. By the way, thank you for your post! You bumped us back to page 1!
  14. I'm sure that you mean Region 1AA, not Region 2A, but I get your point. I also look at all of the power ratings (Murphy Fair, Ken Massey, Sonny Moore, etc.), and I know that Region 2AA is statistically stronger than Region 1AA. I think that Cumberland Gap and South Greene both have a chance to get through round 1, but both will need to be prepared. Part of those power ratings includes margin of victory, as well as opponents records, and wins vs losses. I'm not sure how at least 1 still has South Greene (7-2) rated higher than Cumberland Gap (8-1), even though the Panthers won the head-to-head match-up. (So much for computers, GIGO) Cumberland Gap has won more close games than some of the 2AA schools, but so far, the offense has stepped it up a notch as needed, and so has the defense. The Panthers are in excellent condition, and most play on both sides of the line of scrimmage. Somewhere along the way that might become an issue, but if they minimize their mistakes, I believe they have an opportunity to test more than 1 Region 2AA opponent.
  15. The Greeneville Sun has a nice article and picture of Corey Russell. Here's the link for all who are interested. http://www.greene.xtn.net/index.php?templa...s&newsid=125352
  16. That would explain any "Hometown" calls! $10 worth of gas would get you......hmmmmm.....let me think......hmmmmm?!? I'm not sure it would get you to the next gas station!
  17. Does anyone have a complete West Greene roster? The one on CoachT is mighty short, and PrepXtra doesn't have one entered. Please email it to me, or advise where I might look it up.
  18. You too pal! Good luck with that fire! Loopers and Crossflows? What in the world are these guys smoking? LOL
  19. North Greene is already out of the hunt. G-P beat them head-to-head, so in a tie breaker the finish 5th. They will be playing for honor only. The Rebels are just too much for North Greene to handle this season. Just don't let their wide receivers get behind you. #5 & # 19 can both sling that thing. I predict South Greene by 21 points. 20. Do you have 2 sons and a daughter, and your sons no longer play football?
  21. Oops! You all might already know about it, but I promised to tell everyone about the Pep Rally & Bonfire. It will be Thursday night 10/27/05 from 6:00 until 8:30 at CGHS I hope to be there, but I will have to bring 3 of my 5 Grandchildren, ages 3, 2, and 8 months. The girls would love it, but the baby would be hard to deal with if it's too cold.
  22. Since were are speaking hypothetically here anyway, allow me to construct 2 hypothetical regions. Region 11 is a tough AAA region, with a tough schedule. They have collectively played and beaten the best teams in region 11 AA & AAAA. The only losses that the top 4 have are against each other. All 4 are in the top 25 in all polls. Region 12 is not nearly as good this season. The top 4 have combined for 12 losses outside of the region. Most of their wins have been against other weak Region 12 opponents. The #1 team is ranked 63rd or worse in all polls. Question: Should the Region 11 #4 have to sit out the post-season, while the Region 12 top 2 go get their brains beat out in the first round? Sure, some teams might not deserve to make the play-offs, but the extra game allows 4 more teams in. This also includes 2 more teams in that just might deserve to be there.
  23. Be sure to come up to the pressbox on Friday and say hi! I always enjoy reading your posts! I will be the old fat bearded guy with the WLMU headset on
