  1. Definitely no ties with mccallie. But im not in Tennessee so finding you would be difficult.

  2. Ha you were so let down that a year later you are still criticizing manley over it? Dang thats a let down.

  3. Ha actually I didn't know much about you. Just stuff from reading your posts. It just kinda struck me as odd that you sat back and criticized one kid in particular for something he did last year that wasnt even wrong. And based on the amount of people who change weight classes I figured you did as well. Nothing personal.

  4. So why would you criticize others for doing what you did yourself? Its their call.
  5. I would guess not. Did you run your senior year?
  6. I think your right but if I remember correctly he started his drop after losing to Hayes. But regardless, he has proven himself many times over as a great wrestler. I was just trying to say that more wrestlers drop a weight than people realize. If they certify for the weight and believe they have a better chance of winning there then why not?
  7. Hooker did his share of running, from Cole Hayes in the 2009 state tournament down to 125. It bit him in the butt though as Doster beat him in the finals and Cole was injured and couldn't wrestle. Then Hooker did even more running after the match if I remember correctly. But there is no doubt that he is one of if not the most dominant kids in the state.
  8. I agree wholeheartedly except Manley cannot beat Lewis. And I bet 80 pecent of the state agrees withe me.. good pics though Akers and Brunner a toss up as well You apparently havent been to a utc kids practice. There are some good battles between Lewis and Manley, and from the sidelines, Manley wins 90% of the time. Anything could happen so I dont understand how Manley CANT beat Lewis.
  9. While you have many good wrestlers on your list, your Division one bias still shines. One D2 wrestler out of 10? Brunner is good but he isnt anywhere near the top ten in the state. I saw him lose almost every match he wrestled at a Dual tournament this past summer, a tournament where Lewis, Manley, Doster, Martino, and many others did very well. Trey Stavrum teched Trevor Herron twice during the summer. And Manley defeated Lopez at Freestyle state. There are many very good wrestlers in D2 that belong on a top ten list.
  10. While this match was called extremely unfairly, I want to commend both wrestlers for keeping their composure through the ridiculous stalling calls and the two incorrect takedown calls. Neither wrestler ever had stalling in mind, and I think that was clear to everyone except Bowler. I'm surprised Manley was able to stay with a gameplan when his opponent can take him down out of bounds while he was not awarded a takedown in bounds. Then when he tries to keeps his opponent on the mat with a hard spiral-he is stalling.
  11. In no order Duncan Croy Watson Zach Johnson Bauke Manley Hayes Lopez Proctor Doster
  12. I appreciate your belief that I have some insider information. Neither Gordon or Jim have consulted me so I am just like everyone else--WAG'N my view. Not sure about Silberman but I think he has a good shot at winning, assuming he's back. I agree that's a toss up. Watson is just coming back and I think you will notice that Westbrooks has really done well as the year has progressed. He's much improved. Manley's track record against McCallie is good but he hasn't won over the years as convingly as some think he should. Besides, I think Helton is better than people realize. Hooker and Doster have traded wins over the years--just a guess that it's Hooker's turn. And if you are hearing that "Hooker has tired of Doster and is going to give Hayes a try", you have more inside info than I do. If Silberman is back, I see no way that he wins at 130. He hasnt wrestled a match in almost three years, and he wasnt a standout back then. Yes, Westbrooks has done well this season but Watson pinned him this weekend and Watson is getting better everyday while he is still recovering from his injury. Manley hasnt always pinned Mccallie kids but he has never wrestled someone from Mccallie as inexperienced as Helton. Helton got pinned twice this weekend and Manley won the tournament. I dont see how Helton is better than people realize, the first time I had heard of him was this weekend where he had a poor showing. Helton,1-13, was pinned twice this weekend both times in the first period, and in the same tournament, Manley pinned both the two kids that pinned Helton. And from everything I have heard, Hooker might be giving 135 a go.
  13. Some of the Baylor kids are getting pretty close. I think Manley has around 160 or so and he still has his senior year. Zach Watson should have more than that this time next year.
  14. It didn't look like Elsea had too tough of a time with Standifer in the Mccallie Invitational, with the pin in the first period... That'll be 6 points for Mccallie... Maybe Standifer wont get pinned a second time...
  15. the person would be one Michael Hooker. And this is not the first time this has happened. Not the second, third or forth. And no one is doing a thing about it. Yesterday in that match, the 2nd time it happened, he did it himself. Some of the tactics used by this school's kids are way out of control, and the school's admin needs to take a long hard look at their wrestling program. From blatant head butts, to the constant kicking off of one's own shoe. Among other things that goes on. I can't believe for the life of me, that anyone would want their school's name put out there like this. Ridiculous! Wow... You sir are blaming a school for what their wrestlers do. Do you think Coach Gordo teaches his kids to do this in the room. As I recall, from watching the match online, the second time Hooker's shoe came off they made him take injury time to put it back on. Why are you taking credit away from a kid that fought hard to win this tourney? Dont tell me that Hooker is the only kid in the state who has had his shoe come off twice in one match. As for the Head Butting that just comes from a wrestlers will to win. Any kid that has been on the mat, and wants to win, will go out there hard and try and beat their opponent no matter what. If it takes a little bump of the head every now and then then they will do it. If I was taught correctly it takes two heads to butt, and both heads absorb the impact. There are several other schools out there who get away with yanking fingers back one at a time to break a grip (Baylor) and head butting, every team gets away with some stuff. Of course nobody gets away with biting, but that stuff just comes from a kids will to win. After the kid gets punished for biting like Alex Manley did he should get applauded for wanting to win so bad, that he will taint his reputation to do something like that. Mccallie consistantly takes "injury time" that seems odd and out of place, and Hookers shoe came off when he wrestled manley two years ago. It also came off multiple times against Doster last year. Also, I thought the call against manley in the Mccallie invite was ruled a crossface through the mouth and not a bite. I dont think he served a suspension .

  17. Ok a few things wrong with this one: 125 - Alex Manley a major decision over Taylor Silberman? Ever heard of Jack Silberman? Yeah, his little brother. The kid has wrestled his whole life, and remember this match is in January. Not now. It wont take the Silbondo trained Taylor to get back into the swing of things and more than a couple weeks. He is extremely athletic and I am glasd to see him back out here. I am not a tornado fan, so we can throw that out of our minds, but the match interests me more than any other dual in the state; or the southeast for that matter (Maybe Collins Hill vs. Parkview a few years ago). 135 - Cole Hayes. Before I go any further, remember to think about the passion this kid has for wrestling. Especially since he captured mono just before his walk through state tournament bracket. The future OW at the state is back with vengeance this year. PIN 140 - I still think Doster Hooker is the most sensible matchup, but if I must throw it out there, Doster will use maturity and 2 state championships under his belt to (at the very minumin) squeak this decision out. 145 - Say Hooker does wrestle Stavrum............ Anywhere between a major dec. and a pin. 4,5, or 6 pts for the Blue 152 - Duncan is an outstanding wrestler with some of the most fierce aggression in every one of his matches. I've seen the kid wrestle since he was the star at the Hammerhouse program in GA. However Cate has increased his wrestling tactics tremendously, So unless TJ he gets some funky haircut (very possible) before the match, I don't see him pinning Baylor's young, but mature immproved Cate. 160 - Adam Shuford vs. Martino (GOOD CHOICE) Martino by major decision or fall. I'll give the blue 6 pts here. I dont see how you think Silberman will beat Manley, Silberman hasnt wrestled in years and Manley beat him handily 2 years ago. I think the Hooker Stavrum match will be much closer than a pin. Match of the night. Also the Martino Shufford match will be tight. Adam hasnt lost much skill in his time off
  18. I've heard that the move is called a double half. All the referees at Red Bank agreed that it was legal. Except Tater of course.
