Who wants to play either one of those squads? And if your having a hard time finding games why not play each other.

Oakland and Maryville have been playing in the regular season too a few years in the past several.

In the Oakland Maryville series the last 5-6 years they have alternated wins and most of the games have been pretty competitive. However Maryville graduated 17 of 22 starters last year and Oakland brought back the house. Maryville was very young this year and are still the 2nd best team in 6A.

If we can beat what got off the bus in Milan Friday night we can hang with about anyone 1-5A not named Alcoa. PC was scary and I’ve seen hundreds of high school games. But we might just surprise some people when we play Alcoa.

I’m going to be brutally honest with you. Haven’t seen Trousdale to know for sure. But With the way this team has progressed thru the season I like our chances against any team in 1A or 2A. And with all due respect to Peabody that includes them. Not saying Peabody can’t beat us cause they certainly can. I just like our chances.

In reading this thread I kinda feel like I am sitting at a middle school lunch table. Very entertaining. Carry on.

So I will be completely honest here. Peabody is very good. They have 4 coaches on staff with head coaching experience. 3 have been head coaches in semi final and championship games. One is a tssaa hall of famer and he isn’t even the head coach. Being the first game for Milan with a new coaching staff and not having any scrimmages really hurt us. They had the advantage no doubt. But we also had three current starters that didn’t play in that game that would be current qb Hayden Sullivan, we/db DJ Smith who will be playing on Saturday next year and running back Gy’derius Easley. Easley is a handful. With those three in the game and a few more weeks of prep I think that game is a different story. You can ask the tide coachT supporters and they will tell you they got Milan at the right time.

Ole ManofMillions isn’t a bad dude BC. He’s a South Gibson homer but a pretty cool cat otherwise. He can throw shots at Milan with the best of em cause we are rivals. But always gives credit where it’s due.

Playing the the level of our competition has required us to play big boy ball. Our competition has been Weatview, South Gibson (twice), Covington, Lexington, Hardin Co. Peabody, Pearl Cohn, etc. I respect your opinion but I just don’t think it’s possible to compete with these teams if you not physical consistently. To each his own though.

Thank you for the kind words. At the beginning of the year I thought line play on both sides of the ball was our weakness. Now it is one of our strengths. This team does not necessarily have a weakness. Although Alcoa May make it look like we do there isn’t necessarily one area that I would say we are deficient in at this point. It is a complete team. And we are 100% healthy.

No doubt Alcoa deserves all the respect in the world. But no one in Milan is going to say they can’t compete. Anyone with that attitude is beat before the game even starts. This team believes in themselves and are going to give Alcoa hades for 48 mins and see where the chips fall.

Good one swipes. I had forgotten about that loss to AE. But yes I remember Charlie High and that squad very well. Have nightmares about them. But honestly this Milan team is much better than those Milan teams.

I could be wrong but I Don’t think they have lost to a public school in their class since maybe ‘03?? I know they were 2A then so they might have lost a 3A game to Fulton somewhere in there but probably not. Since moving up to 3A in ‘09 I believe their only losses within the class were to CPA and CAK.

In my opinion they have a coaching advantage and I would say that no matter who they were playing in 2A. Name me one other team in 2A that has 4 guys with head coaching experience on staff? Three of them have been head coaches in semi and championship games and one is a tssaa hall of famer. I think in a game between two teams with similar talent this will make a difference.

Also USJ has 6 silver balls.

I know union city has 4 gold and I think 2 silver. Peabody is going for their 4th gold and I believe they only have 1 silver. MUS and Christian brothers out of Memphis. It sure about.

See this will be Milan’s 10th trip to the title game. I believe that is the most of any team from West TN. We have 4 gold and 5 silver balls. I know that it is far less than Alcoa’s but I am proud of our history and tradition. Is there a team in west TN that has been more that I am not thinking about??

Can you just imagine the matchups in the second and third rds?? Unreal.

The West side having Marshall, Tullahoma, Haywood, Lexington, Milan, Pearl, Hardin Co, South Gibson, etc will be an absolute dawg fight in the playoffs. Getting to the semis and championship game will be a real accomplishment.

But just like I told fbfan26 after the game. Both squads need to make plans to do this next year in the semis at yalls place in 4A. I can promise you I’m running the clock on fish sammiches!!!
