Does anyone know of forums similar to this one in VA, W. Va, Kentucky or N.C.? We (Rebel Wrestling) will be hosting a tournament on Feb. 27th and would like to pull some wrestlers from these states if at all possible. With all the other tourneys in TN. that weekend we're expecting a small to medium turn-out. If you know of a board I could post our flyer on, would you mind posting the name or a link here? Anyone have experience with what to purchase and who to purchase from? The only one I found on-line that says it's designed for braces has a "tab" sticking out the front similar to a football mouth piece. Seems to me this would get in the way during a match. Suplay.com is down right now and I'd like to get it ordered ASAP. My kid is 10 years old. I realize this is a high school board but the AAU wrestling board isn't very active and I would assume you folks have much more experience with this sort of thing. Any info appreciated.

I'm not sure of any right in Nashville but I know Mt. Juliet has a team (and a pretty good one at that). My son wrestled at their beginners tourney a couple of weeks ago. You could contact them and find out who is closest to you. Or go to the TNAAU website here, http://www.tnyouthwrestling.com/ and you should be able to find someone near you.

If the tournament is changed/canceled due to weather, would you mind posting it here? Our guys really need the work so we're hoping that doesn't happen and will be there (most of us) unless the roads are absolutely imassable. Thanks!!

Does it look like you're going to have enough to have this one? I doubt the Rebels will be there due to distance and the possibility of a tourney that weekend in Southwest Virginia about an 1-1.5 hours from where we are. If the Va. tournament falls through there are a couple of parents I might be able to convince to head your way. Keep us updated or try to get it posted n the TNAAU site.

Do any of you folks have a Facebook or Twitter page/site for your club. Rebel Wrestling just started ours about a week ago in order to make more folks in our area aware that we exist. Being a relatively new club, there are still many members of our community that have no idea their children have access to a wrestling team. If you have a Facebook/Twitter account, do you think it's helped? What other ways have start-up clubs used to help get the news out? If you have a Facebook account check out our Rebel Wrestling page and become a fan. If your club has one, post it on here and I'll get as many of our members to become fans of your club.

JC, We were discussing this very thing last night at practice (the fact that the 20th is open). Are the Iron Knights in mid-state? We are in North-East TN (Rebel Wrestling) so I'm not sure if we could get very many to go but I'll pass this along to our club and see what kind of response we get and let you know. It will be Tuesday before I know for sure.

I agree... not much talk about the little guys thus far on any of the message boards. I realize they are young, but has nobody seen any possible future talent? Memphis, Nashville, Knoxville and Chattanooga rec leagues and nothing to talk about?? Hope this is only people being shy. Thread suggestion: comments on top 5 from each division in TN AAU Top 100 To be honest it's hard to gauge the guys I know vs the rest of the state. So many wrestlers in the younger age brackets are still relatively new to the sport that an eventual State Champion could be a 1st or second year wrestler that no ones really familar with. In our club, Rebel Wrestling, I see only a couple of guys who might make any noise in the state tournament. We have a few that have potential as athletes but are pretty raw as wrestlers. In the next few weeks, as the season progresses, the picture should become clearer who will be able to make a deep run at state. As far as nationals, the Mid-West teams are tough to compete with for any TN wrestlers. Hopefully a couple of Tn kids can do well in Kinsport at the AAU Spring Youth Nationals.

Does Richardson have a short list already? Is there a community favorite? What's the likelyhood it will be an in-house hire vs. someone from outside of the system?

Does anyone have any info on the tournament to be held in Mt Juliet on Jan 9th? My family and I have to be in the Nashville area that weekend and I would like to enter my son in this tournament if at all possible. Knowing very little (ok nothing) about the high school wrestiling in region 1, I'm hesitant to ask this question. Doesn't Sullivan south field a wrestling team now? If not, what happened to it? If so, are they just not competitive enough yet, to garner a mention in the rankings? Also how well coached is this team? In time will they be able to be compete in the top half of the region, in your opinion? What would keep them from getting there?

Forgive my ignorance, but where/what is the CPA? My son wrestles with one of the AAU clubs in the area and I'm sure a few of the boosters/parents of our program would be willing to sign the petition. We just need to know where to do so.

former blazer, Why would the other local coaches be more apt to take the job than Jenkins? what would keep him at Boone that wouldn't keep Carter at South? Stubbs at Bristol?

futbolfan If Columbia wins they host regardless of the outcome of the Boone/South game. If AC wins and South wins South will host. If AC wins and Boone wins AC will host. There is a pretty good breakdown of how the hosts are determined on the TSSAA site which can be accessed from the front page of CoachT.
