  1. The topic may be getting old, but that doesn't change what happened. We cheated ourselves out of a great coach. Anyone who can't stand-up and admit that what the school board did was wrong would get no respect from me. We can lie to ourselves and pretend like we were justified in running the coach out and that our program won't be devastated by this, but we all know the truth deep down.
  2. The price is too high for Coacht Plus ($24) and if you don't sign up for Plus, you have to put up with a lot of pop-ups and ads. That might have something to do with it. Plus if you talk about anything other than pretty much specific scores, they close the thread. Thats just some of the stuff that bothers me, but I still use the site.
  3. Was a very poor shooting night by Livingston. They didn't make a single 3-pointer, which is very unusual for a Livingston team. A lot of it has to be contributed to the Smith Co defense, but Livingston just didn't appear to be in their normal state of mind. Livingston needs to go back to their offensive & defensive styles that they were using earlier in the season and not use the stuff we saw at Smith County, keep the best players on the floor when possible, and take better advantage of mismatches.
  4. This is always a good rivalry as these 2 teams are only separated by a short drive down Hwy 111. Been a few years since Pickett County has beaten LA, but LA hasn't being playing their best basketball lately. I haven't seen Pickett play yet this year, but I think it will be a close game.
  5. Long ride home for us from Smith Co. Smith Co-52 Livingston-51
  6. Obvisouly I know more than you, because those were the words that came out of Matt Eldridge's mouth. I guess if you don't know the facts you just lie to yourself to think your do?
  7. Livingston may have just lost their greatest boys coach to ever come through their doors. I wish Jimmy the best, but I bet he wishes he couldn't have gotten the job on different terms. Doesn't look good on the county the way things went down. Sad day in Livingston. The team will be fine, they are getting into the weaker portion of their schedule and will be fine by playoff time. I just don't understand how a Director of Schools can say I am going to suspend you indefinitely because the school board members didn't like your facial expressions or the way you had your leg crossed during the game the other night and they want your resignation. Really? Sad that my tax dollars goes to this guy's $70,000 salary when he doesn't do anything other than what a few board members want him to do. However, The Livingston fans need to continue to support the team and interim Coach Jimmy Miller. Best of luck to both teams in tonight's games

  9. ??? I assumed you disagreed with whatever you thought went on at the game because you mentioned it in both your posts (remember the new account you made last night). You have completely lost me though... I like to think I know a little about basketball, but you must have me beat badly. When did smiling become anti-leadership? Most people hide embarrassment by smiling or laughing. In case you didn't notice, the coach was pretty embarrassed by his teams performance. My guess was that he told his team not to over look JC all week long and they did anyways and thats why the game started the way it did. However, my guess must be way off. Tell us what the coach meant with his smile since you are such a great smile interpreter. You must be in an "inner-circle" that I am not aware of... Does the coach really think its all about him? Someone who seems to care so much for his players... and someone that seems to go out of his way to help them in any way he can... and someone that actually tries to get his players into college... that person really thinks it is all about him? Do you really believe that? Wow. I didn't realize I was messing around with someone as ignorant as you have revealed yourself to be. Our program has been having winning records.. it has been getting some of these young men into college..how many of the young basketball players have you heard about getting into any type of trouble what-so-ever... most of these young men have excellent grades in school...I have yet to meet one of this coach's former players that had anything negative to say about their coach... Favorable Changes? Really? What other types of "favorable" changes should this coach bring to the program and these young men? You want comments, then tell us what you would have done differently in that game. What type of changes would someone such as yourself bring to these young men and this program? Your post doesn't upset me, it humors me. *If your wondering, I was "smiling" while typing all of this because I am actually embarrassed that I wasted so much time on you now that you revealed your ignorance. Now I remember why I haven't logged on to Coacht in a while, people like you make it more like that site 'Topix'.. People that say they have problems, yet they hide behind a username instead of confronting their problem with the source.
  10. Good post. Very true. That Jackson Co. group is good. They played great and deserve the win. I think it just shocked some of the LA fans. Most probably expected to win easily. What was there to disagree with Rabbit? You want to voice your opinion, then fill us in. Help me dig out my nose, I don't even know where it is buried.haha. I don't see why your so upset. Educate us.
  11. I hope the rematch is as entertaining to watch as this one was. Only with a different ending.
  12. You don't need to names for that. I would have gave my opinion to you anyways, you didn't need to create a new account just for that.
  13. Is that you Rabbit? I thought you were trying to open a can of worms when I read your first post. Would you have played your starters if they were playing that poorly? That coach must not know what he is doing. He has one of the best win percentages at LA, but that isn't good enough for us.
  14. Looked like the LA boys forgot to show up.. They will turn it around though. They have a lot of talent and a great coach in Melton. Move on and learn from it. We are now getting into the part of the schedule that matters. It isn't how you start the season, its how you finish it. LA has always started out strong. Maybe they needed a start like this to help get them to where they are going.
  15. I'm not going to give much of a prediction other than Livingston wins this district yet again. Have you seen Livingston's schedule? Right off the bat they start out with West Creek (19-9 last year) and Red Bank (24-9 last year). These are going to be two tough Hall of Games for the Wildcats. I think Livingston will prove early on they can play with just about anyone and that they are still a cut above the rest of the district. I was looking over the schedules and Livingston's opponents were 249-180 last year (just throwing that out there) My guess on the starting 5 for Livingston looks like this: - Brock McCoin (good looking sophomore point gaurd who got a lot of playing time as a freshman) - Jake Huitt (smart guard, can play the point as well, decent shooter, & and quick as all get out) - Kalien Melton (a guard that can shoot from anywhere, a quiet leader that refuses to lose) - Mason Ramsey (a 6'5" beast that can pound it inside or shoot from 2 ft behind the arc) - Logan Ramsey (6'9" center, not a lot of power, but moves are improving & nice mid-range jumper) Although Livingston isn't as deep on the bench this year as the past few seasons, they still have some quality players that will be able to rotate into the game. Anyone have news or info on the other district teams?
  16. Livingston Academy is a tough out at home. Hard to escape Hog-Eye with a win. If I am not mistaken LA has only lost 3 games at home in the last 2 seasons and those were to Ensworth by 1, Howard by 2, & CPA by 7....
  17. Glad you pointed that out. I knew the bench wasn't emptyed because their were 6 kids that didn't play at all. Good point thing. And you proved an even bigger point. In this one thread we have people who think too many played or there was too much subbing and people who think not enough people got to play. Point being that coaches have to do what they think is best. Obviously can't please everyone. LOL This has changed my bad mood. Hilarious! Isn't it funny the things that people keep up with and notice???? In case no one noticed LA won the game and is leading the district right now. Gotta love people! : Moving on.
  18. Good luck tonight at Jackson County.
  19. Coach M and I are of no relation. Both of you may be sort of right. Pianoman I may be wrong. You may not be personnally bitter. Maybe you just like to make negative remarks. Some people are like that. Others will at times step in and defend. That would be me. Rocking Chair looks like you've done your homework. I haven't done the math but I'm assuming yours is correct. I was wrong. My guess at the % was overstated by 1.5%. lol I did do some checking though and TJ Smith played 26 of 32 minutes at York. He's probably already done the laundry and is ready for tonight's game. LA played 9 people at York. That doesn't sound like unloading the bench to me. But you may be right about the shuffling of players. One of the subs scored in double figures. Who knows? Maybe subbing TJ kept him from getting in foul trouble. Its easy to assume after the fact. I do think Coach Melton has had some very talented players. That is an obvious ingredient to success of any program. His % wouldn't be as high without that. That's probably the same for college and pro teams as you mentioned. Liberace? I was never a big fan. Too obnoxious and flamboyant. All humor aside....I think TJ Smith is a great player. I just wish he was more aggressive on defense sometimes. I give credit to all the young men who've played at LA. This thread was started by someone from York I assume. So to Williamz71, good luck to York too. You guys have a good team. There really are true LA fans who support everyone involved, whether or not we always agree with coaches.
  20. Nice to see you back pianoman. There. Now we've both used sarcasm. Okay. I'm in a bad mood and you've struck a nerve. So I'm going to rant for a minute. Of course he's had talented players. Why do you take every chance to put Coach M down? Why would you spend your money going to games and looking for ways to criticize and hoping for more L's for LA. There really are some of us...maybe we're a few... who may not agree with everything a coach does who still are supportive of the coach and the team. You have me intrigued. Share with the rest of us what has happened to you, or your son or family member, or your friend's son, that causes you to have such disregard for Coach M. I happen to know him. I don't think he's perfect. No one is. But I do respect the fact that he's worked his butt off for students of all calibers. And I'm sure that's not always pleasant when he has a family of his own. Why would you continue to make yourself miserable by keeping up with what's going on with LA boys basketball? That's part of what's wrong with the whole country....too many people willing to criticize others for working hard when they have no clue what's really going on. Too many people want things handed to them when they don't deserve it. Maybe I don't have a real clue with what's going on with LA boys basketball, but I'm not the one taking every chance I get to criticize them either. Knowing the type of things you post pianoman, you're probably thrilled right now that you got under my skin. But thank you. I needed to let off some steam.
  21. The fact that TJ only had 1 foul says more to me than just him not getting enough playing time. I have seen TJ play an entire game and only have 1 foul. To me that says he could stand to be more aggressive on defense. TJ is a great player. Imagine if he approached defense the way he did offense. I would think that if you knew much about the sport at all, you wouldn't even hint to questioning the coach's actions. Coach Melton's "unloading" the bench style of play is what allows him to have a good team year in and year out. Any coach that can manage to get his young players time in the game and still finds a way to win has to be pretty sharp. That "unloading" the bench style is part of the reason all the freshmen and sophmores are playing so well right now. *I realize you said "you weren't trying to be a critic", but basiclly you were being a critic. One with a negative tone. When the coach's win % drops below 80%, then you can consider being a critic.
  22. Kinda hard to believe that LA's first free-throws didnt arrive until less than 2 minutes to go.. Ramsey 3 point play at that time gave LA the edge needed to pull away and win the game. LA wins. 64-55
  23. Lets get back to the game.. ITS GAME TIME. Cannon Co. girls just upset LA. Will the Cannon boys be able to do the same..? We will know in about an hour.
  24. No, not really. If you call someone rude, does that make you rude? I am glad several people have pointed out the way games are at Cookeville. Maybe they will try to be better hosts from now on.
