EHS has only 778 students HV has 616 The teams you say are the same size as EHS for example Science Hill 2565 same size as EHS? Ashville, NC 1167 same size as EHS? CAK only has 280 same size as EHS? (they do get to pick kids from all over Knoxville to play there) Greeneville 890 same size as EHS? Plus they do get to pick kids from NC. JK It’s looks to me like the facts are that HV is a lot closer in size to EHS then those other teams. as for the pay being tripple A Carter County coach is paid approx $38,000 plus $8000 coaching for $46,000 Do you really think the EHS coaches are making $138,000 per year when the School Director makes only $80,000?

In Elizabethton we grow our own. Coach Witten was on the chain crew for the 7-8 year old Cyclone Grass Cutter Team playing Johnson City for the Championship yesterday. I could hear his speech to them before the game it would be something like this, "All right boys you had better play hard today and enjoy it while you can, because when you get to high school we are going to bring in some studs from NC that are going to take your positions, now let's go!! Cyclones on 3, 123 Cyclones!!!". No thanks, if thats what you have to do to get a little gold ball you can keep'em.

Still though I do not see the head to head in there anywhere. You could have a team that is undefeated in their conference and have a record of 7- 3 having lost to teams in higher classes and a team that played most nonconference games against 1A schools with a record of 7-2. The 7-2 team will be seeded higher even if they lost head to head.

I was hoping for a good game this weekend, but with JC losing twice to Hampton and Cloudland, the Atwoods need to get those Longhorns in gear. They have a chance to beat HV and put the whole three rivers in a mess for playoff spots, but I don't think that will happen. Even if EHS wins the three rivers under the stupid playoff system T$$AA has come up with HV and north will be seeded ahead of Elizabethton and they will not get a home playoff game. Head to head means nothing and winning your conference is worth nothing. I guess EHS needs to play teams like Unaka, and other one A schools in stead of playing schools with a thousand more students then they have. Wow great game, both teams played hard. North's coach blew it for his team. Did he not watch any film on Happy Valley? Why would any team kick it deep to South. He broke one against Elizabethton coming out in the second half, did he think it was a fluke? Then he blew his top when the clock malfunctioned the ref was putting the time back but he through a fit and got 15 yards tacked onto a poor punt to start with. With Johnson County losing to Cloudland tonight North should still get a playoff spot and with this skewed up playoff system, Elizabethton will win the conference and both North and Happy Valley will be seeded higher. TSSAA has a screw loose. Good Luck to both teams.

The WR/K had a career ending knee injury, MCL, ACL everything gone, will never play again. The QB came back two games later. We are a very young team, Jr QB, both RB are sophomores. Young line. Lost one of our SR LB last week to a knee injury for the season. We still should win the district and go a couple of rounds into the playoffs. This team has the most heart and as they mature will be fun to watch the next few years.

After seeing both teams play, I am giving the edge to North, though having the home field will benefit HV. The team that makes the least mistakes will come out on top. HV option lends itself to that especially the way north hits I see the HV players going down. You need a lot of good players to run it because almost all runners are hit every play and that will ware you down. I look forward to watching it. North 21 HV 14

I think North may find HV no pushover this week. They are healthy and have a few backs that could give North fits. HV does not have a good pass D. Unaka and EHS showed that. Granted North is no Cloudland or East and I think they will slow down the HV run. It looks like its going to be the game to watch this weekend.

With The Elizabethton JV beating, Science Hill, DB, VA High, Avery County, and Volunteer it looks like Jordy's JV boys are doing something called winning, I know It's something HV has never seen before. Sorry Elizabethton is in your Confrence now and your championships are now over. I guess Coach Verran will be the Coach that goes down in history as the last to win a championship. Maybe they will let you play down in the conference with Cloudland you like playing them so much. Coach Harrison is doing good things at EHS and you can't stand it.

Moore is good to play Fri but Hubbard may be out a week. We need the turf, the field is like playing football in the street.

I guess if EHS keeps beating HV and HV destroys the other county schools. You can assume EHS is doing the right thing. When that changes let us know.

It would seam to me that beating 6a science hill , VA High, Avery County and Volunteer is a pretty good job of coaching, They have lost only to DB and North's Varsity (sorry Raider Dad ; )). What games has HV's JV won? Unaka?

Not so fast, HV had a hard time with Unaka and Cloudland rolled over them. I bet HV overlooks them and it will be closer then you think.

I think the Star printed a retraction today. All joking aside, North has some great players, that kid playing center today was huge, not many kids could handle him as well as the rest of the O line. They were pushing the EHS D back 5 yards after every play. Our freshman QB was hurt in the game Monday and the kid playing today is a base ball player and has only been playing football for about a year. We did see some action in the 4th with some newer players. Our speed back from last year's little brother broke a long run toward the end of the game. Those kids are just glad to get to play, Good luck with the rest of the season.
