  1. Lots of people apparently care a great deal about how rude, crude, and socially unacceptable the Cyclones and their supporters are. But newcyclone don't worry... the ones that TRULY matter (the players and coaches) are concentrating on what matters. A big W for the Cyclones Friday night! GO CYCLONES!
  2. OOOH, Cycloneprider, don't bite on this... Just walk away. lol.
  3. Not that it matters to me one way or the other (my son will be gone) but that's not going to happen. Simply not in Elizabethton's best interest, not when they end up with a number 6 seed after going undefeated in conference.
  4. Oh, okay... then I was guess he was referring to the kicks that we missed, that could have changed the outcome of the game. I was wondering where in the world that could have come from this year.
  5. I know the helmet has never been loaded onto the bus before our athletic director has made sure that it was okay with the other schools athletic dept, and there have been instances when the helmet did not make the trip with the boys. I do know that the CAK game was the first Cyclone game that I have been to that not even the pep band was allowed to come with us- which was totally understandable since it was CAK's homecoming. To answer your other question. The 'SWAGGER' graduated last spring. We lost a large number of seniors 20 plus, so that made a huge difference in the attitude of the team, just as losing the 17 seniors will make at the end of this year. Different leaders, different attitude. I can't say that I agree completely with Shawn Witten's comments, but I do understand his frustration. Our team did not perform to the best of their ability at CAK- and I do think they could have made it a closer game had they played as they are capable of playing. Did he really make that comment about beating you "everywhere but on the scoreboard" this year? And in answer to your last question, Elizabethton was undefeated in their conference play this year for a second year- yet we were a #6, due to the fact our other games were playing tougher schools, and higher division schools. Next year, Elizabethton will be playing schools closer to home, and some lower divisions. Not sure it will help them in preparing for playoffs, but they should have a higher seed next year.
  6. No, it's just part of our tradition, since a fan bought it for the boys last year. If your school had asked us not to bring it, it would have been left at home. I have to say though, after being at your field I certainly have a new view of Christian schools.
  7. Perhaps it was the ARMY of a team that you brought in that intimated our players. Perhaps it was the fact that we hadn't been to that level in the playoffs in a long time that caused our miscues, after all we can't all be ole' pros like Alcoa. There is no doubt that Alcoa is a good team, and there is no doubt that Alcoa beat Elizabethton fair and square - Now, will you go find a Alcoa thread to play in? lol.
  8. LOL, I don't think we had quite the face off with CAK as we did with Austin East. And it is a different year, with a different team. I think I said that we did the chant at most games, just not to the extent that it was taken to at the AE game. Note: there was no chant at your field this year.
  9. The funny thing is... there is actually video to support exactly what I said, it's just not posted on youtube, lol, and I'm perfectly fine agreeing to disagree with you. There are always 3 sides to every story, yours, mine and the truth. The main difference between us (as far as I can tell) is I have no problem admitting our boys shouldn't have done what they did- it proved nothing, except that they weren't above stooping to some low levels. I've said before, and I will say it again, I don't like the chant and I haven't missed it at all this year. There are young children at every game that look to these boys as role models, they see nothing wrong with anything they do, and the boys that put on the uniforms every week would do well to remember that. Looking forward to a good game Friday. GO CYCLONES!
  10. First of all, it wasn't the team jumping around in a huddle. It was individual players walking onto the school logo and jumping up and down. So that blows that argument... and while you might believe there wasn't trash talking going on I'll believe several adults that were on the field (and no, I'm not talking coaches) that heard it for themselves. I've never taken a poll of the Elizabethton people on this board, but it seems like there was discussion somewhere by several different Elizabethton fans who actually witnessed the disrespect displayed by the Austin East players several minutes prior to the face off. I can promise you this, whether they are on this board or not there were several fans on both sides that witnessed the events. I won't debate this issue however. I know what I witnessed, and I could really care less if you believe it happened or not. Thinking back I guess Elizabethton did do the chant before every game last year... however, they were usually in their huddle not facing the other players - just like AE does... to hype themselves up. The scrapping and the disrespect shown by jumping on the logo is what led to the "face off." As I said before, we have rarely heard the chant this year, and for that I am glad. But, as bad as the chant is, it is certainly better than a bunch of boys running out on the field with a one finger salute to their opposition, imo.
  11. Actually, I think I said this video doesn't show the whole story... but I would expect nothing else out of a AE fan. The AE players were jumping up and down on the center of the field, and scrapping at the paint with their cleats a few minutes before this "inaccurate" filming job started. Some of our players noticed, as did a lot of the fans that were already there. Emotions were running high that night already, and I would dare say that if the Elizabethton players had disrepected AE on their home field that way they would have received a special greeting as well. My son was out on the field that night last year and he would be the first one to tell you how much I disliked that chant, since he had to hear about it every Saturday. My son will be out on the field this coming Friday- we have rarely heard the chant this year, but if the trash talking gets heavy on the field before it might get out of hand again. I certainly hope not... GO CYCLONES!
  12. Funny. I remember this... but I also remember the AE players jumping up and down and scrapping at the paint in the middle of the field as hard as they could quite a few minutes before the chant (or this film) ever started, and so do a lot of the EHS players. I'm sure they are watching that film in the EHS locker room...They also remember watching film of AE entering the field at another game and their players giving a one finger salute to the opposing team and their fans- which is exactly why Shawn had the Cyclone players in a huddle surrounding him when AE entered the field last year. Did our players chant... sure they did. But if you are going to refer to something that happened a year ago, please tell the WHOLE story.
  13. You're right. I don't think Alcoa will be intimidated by their surroundings. I'm almost hoping they won't be worried about Betsy at all...
  14. SERIOUSLY? A Hampton fan talking about people whining??? But, it does explain the spelling...
  15. Austin-East players did not say anything to Elizabethton players. There was not any "cow town" talk from the players or coaches. All the taunting that you speak of during the week was by fans and spectators (some from Austin-East and some not affiliated with Austin-East). The taunting that I spoke of was intentional and probably planned. Elizabethton players lined up (spanning the width of the field) facing Austin-East at the 50 yardline, and did jumping jacks (I did not hear what they spelled). After the jumping jacks, they came together in a group at the 50 yardline still facing Austin-East and began their chant. This excited Austin-East players, and they began jumping up and down. I saw 2-3 Austin-East coaches between the two groups trying to ensure nothing physical started. I did not see Elizabethton coaches doing the same. Based on the comment from the CAK fan, I guess this is a pre-game routine for Elizabethton. If Austin-East had such a tradition, people would talk about Austin-East having no class, no discipline, and no sportsmanship. I personally heard some of the players taunting the Elizabethton players with the "cow talk" when they were warming up. A friend that works for a local paper that was standing on the sideline heard it as well. Our players ignored them, as they had been advised to do all week. The chant is something that the players do at everygame... they were in the huddle before it began ON THE 45 yard line, not facing the AE players. The AE players got on the other 45 yard line to begin with --- then they moved to the 50 yard line. I guess it depends on what side of the field you were on then, because there were Cyclone coaches as well as Cyclone players trying to keep the two apart. The only thing that was done differently in the AE game was the fact that our team was in a huddle on our sideline when AE took the field. They had watched film from the Gatlinburg - Pittman game and saw the AE players "flipping the GP players off, and making other obsene gestures..." as they took the field. Our coaches did not want to subject our players to that type of "taunting".
