Yes I just said cornersville will beat Richland. They've come on strong at the right time of the season. If they can continue this good play then I give them the "W" over Richland.

MTP comes in this game after a tough regular season loss to a good CA team. MTP doesn't look back as their athleticism dominates hampshire throughout the gm.

 

I left out the SF vs Cully gm, what's some thoughts on this gm?

Oh and I did mention the two teams but was going to see what discussion on these two teams were because this gm will be the best 1st round gm because of the 1st two previous matchups. This game will most def. be a war. So and about baseball nobody really cares about that right now, it's time will come but this forum is for basketball. I just want to let everybody know that nobody needs to count Hampshire out. They lost to richland 70-56 but heading into the 4th quarter they were only down by one. Go look at the standings and you will see Hampshire is dead last. They were not even "supposed" to be in the game but they hung with richland until the 4th quarter. Come district tournament time I wouldn't sleep on Hampshire. They could upset any of the top four teams.

WOW! Did you not loose by 14 with The leading scorer for Richland in street clothes after hurting his ankle against Mt P..(Newton).. Believe what you may..You will either be traveling to Richland or CA or MTP depending on who looses tonight...

I didnt say i agreed with the techs i was just stating the facts of the game.. 1 tech was for slapping the backboard.. You are right 60 plus fouls and could have been more.. Great high school atmosphere..

Mt Pleasant Richland was a battle.. MP lead by 13 at halftime.. Richland lead by 2 after 3rd.. MP won by 1... Richland missed one shot with 5 sec. and a putback was blocked.. District tourney better have plenty of security cause this rematch could get ugly.. 3 Tech's in this game.. 1 on MP coaach 2 others on MP players... TONS of fouls on both teams... Cant wait til Tourney should be one of the better Tourneys in this district in a few years...

If Sante Fe has the best post playerin the district according to a earlier quote and really good guards that have been offered by small college's then why have they lost so many District games? Just a thought.. Richland will beat MT Pleasant friday night by 1+.. Guarantee they will NOT lose by 10+.. Richland /Hampshire will be played Sat. night @Richland 6pm girls start.. You dont want to talk about region but now you are talking about Sub-state.. Man come on, seems to me you arent to confident about CAs chances in Region. Live by the 3 die by the 3... Go RAIDERS! p.s. If Chapel Hill can play Clarksville close then the top 2 teams in this region should be able to compete...

Starting out the region all depends on how the district tourneys shake out but for fun here goes.. D12 has the advantage as i see it. 1WC vs 4Cully : 2PC vs 3MtP : 1 CA vs 4CWOOD : 2Richland vs 3Stown.. Semis WC vs Richland : PC vs CA : Final Wayne County vs Perry County.. Wayne County Champs.. Havent seen PC play but heard they heard solid, WC has the Player though.. I believe CA and Richland can compete with all d12 teams.. Mt.P doesnt scare D12 like they do D11.. Cully or Santa Fe wont win a Region game.. Summertown can beat CA and Richland also... A lot of ball to go but entertaining to look at it this early.. Matchups should be interesting.. Go Raiders prove me wrong..

Only a couple of weeks left but there are still some interesting games to be played. Ca controls their own fate with road games at Cully and Santa Fe and the finale with Mt.Pleasant at home.. Mt Pleasant still has Corn and Richland at home then CA. Richland hosts Hampshire then heads to Mt.Pleasant.. District officials better warm their quarters up for Coin-Flips for 6th and 4th and possibly 1st.. At any rate should be a fun stretch of ball. GO RAIDERS...

Richland took care of Sante Fe tonight. SF lead 4 to 2 then Richland lead the rest of the way. Up by 5 at halftime. Then 13 or 14 at end of third...

so straight off the bench you have the JV?? culleoka only has 5 varsity players?

 

By JV I was meaning players that, before this year, hadn't seen the court much since middle school. They did good to keep Richland to a 10 point lead at half. Had the seniors not got in foul trouble (some calls were.....questionable. I'm not sure Upshaw had a true foul all night) this game would have turned out differently. If I'm Richland I do not want to play Cully again.

There were some questionable calls on Cully no doubt about it. Seems the Great Coach should have taken his starters out earlier so they wouldnt pick up their third in first half. Newton and Jones also had 2 fouls in first half for Richland. Richland is not worried bout Cully later anyway. As for the jv comment Richland had 2 freshmen scoring baskets in the final 3 minutes of the game with Cullys Starters in there.. Also no one has mentioned the Horrific free throw shooting by Richland in the last 4 min.. Like 3 for 10 or so.. Cully just couldnt score to capitalize.. Richland lead 7 to 0 and 4 points is as close as Cully got the rest of the night..

I would say that the district champ will finish with 2 losses. Still a lot of ball left... Richland is stumbling a little bit but should be fine for the tourney. The way i see it CA is a tough matchup for Richland. Mt Pleasant is somewhat tough for CA.. Richland is a tough matchup for MT Pleasant.. Cully and Santa Fe are the the wild cards for the rest of the season... Cully at Richland Tues.. Should be a good one...The District Tourney should be exciting..

Richland defeated Hampshire tonight 69 -31 in their makeup game. 3 district wins this week... The Richland /Corn game was fairly close 14 at end of 3rd. Richland kinda went through the motions but Corn came to play and they played pretty well. Richland 6-1 in the District..

Cant believe there is no talk about CA Clarksville Academy game.. Talk about crickets... I will say Clarksville Academy by 15.

 

Wow... crickets? Richland fans probably have less post than any other fans. I dont' know you may have Cornersville fans beat this year.

 

There usually isn't a ton of talk about non-district games. I didn't see a thing posted about CA at Davidson Academy from Monday which CA won. The game tonight against Clarksville Academy will be a tough one for CA. Clarksville Academy has 5 very solid starters with two post players that are around 6'4". One of them is awesome. He should get some offers from some good colleges. CA didn't play that great against them earlier in the year. The CA post players seemed over whelm but a lot of games have been played since then. If the CA post players can not stop but contain the Clarksville Academy post players and CA guards can knock down shots from the outside it will give CA a chance to hang around with a chance to win in the end. Do I think CA wins? Probably not... I'm going to say Clarksville Academy 5+.

 

the last time they played CA couldnt hit a shot to save there lives until the last 2 minutes of the game...(that includes WIDE open shots) so if they come to play it could be close.

I just figured that CA just killed Santa FE and are playing a top 3 team, that beat them in a close game earlier that CA might think they have a chance to upset them.. Dont think Davidson Academy is up to Clarksville's level. Someone from this Region will have to play Clarksville Academy to advance down the road.. As to the few posts about Richland alot of these posts about other schools are just catfights back and forth not useful info.. I hope CA wins but i doubt they will...

Mt. P Richland was a physical game. Tied after first Qtr. Then Raiders led the rest of the way up by as many as 12 or 14 and as little as 4 with a couple of min left. Raiders converted many free throws down the stretch. Up next for the Raiders Corn..

Ok, I need to clarify something on here. Mt Pleasant, the highest ranked team in this district was beaten twice by 16 points by most likely the 3rd place team from 12A. Then you follow it up that any team from 11 can beat any team from 12 on any given night and then show that cully has lost 4 games to 12a teams already. Then you list a few games that have been won by 11a teams against teams like Clifton and Loretto. Clifton and Loretto will be bottom two in 12a--GUARANTEED!!!!!! WQhen tourney time rolls around, I promise you that 3 if not all four of the final teams will be from 12a. Wayne county, Perry County, Summertown, and Collinwood. I seriously doubt that those four go out in early rounds in the region and for that matter at least one of them will make it to state. Thats right. I am predicting that a team from 12 wins the region and the loser (if they get lucky) will be a 11 team and then get blown away by the team from clarksville that Stown beat last year at substate.

Cwood beat Richland without Newton and Richland was up by 2 with a couple of minutes left and also beat Summertown earlier in the year without Edwards. So Richland want mind lacing them up against these two for sure. As for tomorrow nite Richland by 5 if Newton is playing. If he is not it will be even closer.

As it is every year, the top four will be WC. PC, Stown, and Cwood. I see that Cwood has beaten Cully, as have a few other teams in 12a, so that bodes well for refions. I also see that Stown has beaten the top team in 11a twice by 16 both times--that also bodes well for regions. I think you will possibly see 3 teams from 12a in the final 4 at region tourny time. I see that PC has beaten Stown, and WC has beaten them also, but I don't see Stown losing to both of them the second time around. I truly do not see them losing 4 district games---almost never happens. Where is the district tourny this year--is it at WC or Cwood? I want Stown to host the district tourny just one time!!!!!!!! I think that would be an unfair advantadge to them though, lol!!!!!!!!!!!!

Just want set one thing straight.. On the 11a thread you said Cwood handled Richland. I'm not whining just stating the facts.. Richland was up 2 with a couple of minutes left.. Richlands leading scorer (Newton) didnt even play due to ankle injury. Newton also didn't play against Loreto an the raiders won by 18 or 19. Early in the year without starting post (Edwards) Richland beat Summertown. So i dont think Richland will mind seeing Cwood or Summertown. Perry county and WC are solid according to this thread, Haven't seen either one of these play.. I give d12 the edge but i feel like the Raiders can compete with them..

My brief summary of 11a, mostly from reviewing this thread, in alphabetical order.

 

CA - Playing very well. A strong district contender. Only will be beat by teams bringing their A game and if they have an off night. They are well coached and have a lot of talent.

 

Cornersville - They are weak and have had a lot of players quit, likely reflecting on the coach. By now, the players who are weak minded should have quit, not during the season. They should be beat by everyone except maybe Hampshire.

 

Culleoka - They either win, or when they lose, they go into the 4th quarter with a lead. This means they are consistent, for the most part, likely due to good coaching. Whatever their 4th quarter problems are, at least it is just one problem, that likely can be identified fixed. They aren't all over the place of recent. A steady contender that shows up but often fades away at the last minute, likely due to their younger players lack of scoring. Probably will be fixed, given they probably have the best coach in the region. You may have more talent that can win, but you will not out coach them. They may peak late, which is the only time that matters, if they can avoid injuries.

 

Hampshire - they win here and there, but are and always will be weak, because of the size of the school. They may luck into a win against Richland or Santa Fe, but that is about it.

 

Mt. Pleasant - the most athletic team in the district this year, and a very strong contender. You will not beat them trying to better them atheletically, but might out coach them or catch them on a bad night. You'd better bring your A game when you play them.

 

Richland - looks like they have talent, but they are very inconsistent. They might play a good game, then get blown out or beat by a team with less talent. They are all over the place. This won't bode well in the long run.

 

Santa Fe - They have a lot of talent, but will be up and down. Who knows if even their best players will show to play, if they have cruise or rock concert, date or some better offer. They can beat anybody on any given night, if they play well, but can be beaten as they aren't very dedicated. Likely will fade away towards the middle to end of the season and be put out in the first round of the district.

Dont see where you are coming from about Richland. They have talent. You said Might play a good game then get blown out??? They lost to THE GREAT CA by 6. Lost just last week to Collinwood from the GREAT POWERFUL DISTRICT 12 by 5 pts after leading by 2 with a couple minutes to go without T. Newton who is definitely one of the best players in district 11. Then this Monday again without T. Newton lost to Lawrence County by 22 which is a BLOWOUT. Lawrence County is AAA and 12-1 and Richland wouldn't have beat them with Newton but it would have been closer. So i believe when T Newton gets back from his ankle injury and C Edwards gets back to full speed after his early season ankle injury that Richland will be in the District Championship game. These injuries have given 3 or 4 freshmen a lot of minutes and experience for later on in the season. I am not saying Richland is unstoppable, they can be, but they will a tough out in Feb.

Cully lost to Richland by 6 or so. Refs totally handed Richland the game. They only had 13 points halfway through the 3rd quarter with the fouls in their favor 3-1 and Culleoka up by 12. Then the refs took over.By the end of the 3rd the fouls were 10-1. Richland ended up with 40 something points, mostly from free throws. Culleoka had 3 starters(Pilkington, Upshaw and Lacey)foul out. Some of the fouls called against Cully had the Richland fans shaking their heads. LET THEM PLAY! Culleoka should have won this game no questions asked.

Well i was at this game and i don't recall the Refs hitting three pointers in the 4th qtr. Looked like Chris Jones and Tanner Newton from where i was sitting. Also looked like Jones stealing the ball from a couple of Cully players not the Refs. The fouls were 10 to 1 then it was soon 10 to 8. Cully played tough but ran out of gas Thats why they were whistled for the fouls. You are right Cully will be tough to beat come tourney time. They have a solid five but no bench. Richland always seem to play to the buzzer.. They have wins over Eagleville, Summertown and Cully after trailing by double digits in the 4th. They trailed Ca by 16 and cut it to 4 with the ball twice but couldnt convert. Like i said in an earlier posts this Raider team is different than previous Raider teams.. Raiders entertain Collinwood Tuesday night.

Good question. They have beat one team with a winning record (Cully). Anyway they will come crashing back to reality after Xmas. Richland at Cully Fri night.. Raiders get back on track after dissapointing loss to CA.

Well CA beat the Raiders tonite.. 66 - 61. Ca dominated the boards.. It was entertaining. I am a Richland fan and I would say that the CA folks would agree.. 59 fouls called in the boys game.. WORST CALLED game i have ever watched.. Both ways. Both coaches were T'd up. Rematch should be just as good.

I will take the Raiders in convincing fashion. No doubt that Williams will go off though. Should be an entertaining evening at Richland..

Let it rest about recruits at cully. NEW teams new year.. What happened in junior high means nothing now either. If it did Richland beat cully and CA twice that year. Its 09-10 Raiders by 15: Mt Pleasant by 20: cully by 7.

The Raiders finished their pre district schedule at 6-0. Not sure how good the competition has been, time will tell.. Edwards the 3 year starting posts hasnt dressed all year and was still wearing a boot at the Cascade game Tues. This is a different Raider team than in years past, lots of contributors.. Unselfish and fun to watch! We dont need Henry Patterson this year anyway, You all will see soon enough. District prediction: 1 Raiders:2 CA:3 Mt. Pleasant: fight for 4th Cully, Sante Fe, Cornersville,: 7 Hampshire.
