  1. I was thinking they started 2 srs (Mansfield, Long), 1 jr (Crews) and 2 sophmores (Sockwell, Hartsfield). I know the sophmore class has a lot of talent and make up most of the bench.

Yes, you are correct. However, I believe another senior will be starting come tomorrow night against Summertown with Robertson that transferred from Loretto. Tomorrow is the first game of the season that he will be eligible. So thinking he may start over Crews to help the ball security of the backcourt. LC is very young outside of those 3 and love to run!

  2. If you are a Stown fan then you aren't saying much for your team by only saying 6. WC is no where near being at the top of their game. Probably 2 starters just got out of football and have not really scratched the floor good yet (rusty) and a couple of subs are the same way. Stown has been playing for several weeks or months now so they should be really hitting on all cogs. If Stown is only 6 points better now, then they will not even be close later on in the season.

I am not a Summertown fan. I'm stating my opinion from watching both teams in the past. WC is extremely scrappy, which could give Summertown trouble. I just assume it will be closer than people will expect. I mean, it is a rivalry game.

  3. bad thing is...yalls schedule is very weak and we've played very good teams, the only team that was any count was spring hill for you guys...can't wait to be at this game in that little "shack"..i loved playing there when i was in high school...probly the best atmosphere in high school basketball...it has a "Duke vs. North Carolina" feel to it

I'm not a Summertown fan. I was just stating something from seeing them previously play. Just stating my opinion. Good luck to both teams. May the best team win.

  4. Tullahoma is 1-1 against 7AAA teams this year, winning at Oakland and losing at Smyrna. The Cats hosts two more teams from 7AAA this week. On Monday, its a rematch with Oakland and Tuesday, the Cats host LaVergne. Friday Tullahoma hosts Columbia in their first District 8AAA game.

Binns, would really appreciate it if you gave the results for these upcoming games! Hopefully 8-aaa can pull out some wins! Law Co lost a close one Friday night to Blackman (closer than score indicates because of fouling) and a heart breaker to Marshall County on Saturday on a buzzer beater. Lincoln County edged out a win over Loretto by 6-8, but it was also much closer than score indicates. Looks like the district could very well be a toss up. Will be fun to see!

  5. I don't necessarily disagree. Just going by what everyone lost and how they are fairing now. I don't think any team from 8AAA will get past 7AAA this year, and I even think they are down too.

Blackman did not impress me at all. Riverdale did. I thought LC would come out and hang with Riverdale, but the score shows otherwise. LC couldn't hardly make anything from the field. Outside of #42 (Mansfield), they don't have much scoring.

  6. The league lost a bunch fo starters, so it's going to be difficult to pick...so based on returning starters and looking at the teams records vs the teams they've played this year...

    1. Tullahoma should win based on returning the most starters and they have some good size. Their point guard is having good year so far, but I don't think they have outside shooters to help. I see them putting it up and hitting the O-boards.

2-5. I think is a toss up; Columbia has talent but is struggling...Franklin Co. lost 6 seniors last and returns one starter. Shelbyville lost a bunch of starters and needs to replace a bunch of scoring. Lincoln Co. lost a few starters too but is doing pretty good so far.

    6. Lawrence Co lost all their starters and looks to be really struggling so far.

As a whole though, I think this years league is not nearly as strong as the past few years. If Tullahoma stays consistent I think they have the best chance to win district, as long as they don't have a end of year let down. 2-5 I think any of those teams have a shot as long as they continue to improve. Seems like those teams just need more time to gel together. Franklin Co, Shelbyville and Lawerence Co lost a ton of offense and will have the hardest time replacing that.

I think Lawrence County will finish better than 6th, solely because they have the best coach in the district, hands down. Losing 6 players that play 90% of the minutes and score 90% of the points is super difficult to replace.

I don't think any team in the district will be able to hang with any 7-AAA team though. Unfortunately.

  7. This game was ridiculous from the start. Summertown really played terrible. If they were playing any other team in the state they would have lost by 20. One unexpected event in this game was how BAD Lawrence County was. I'm lobbying for a match up between Lawrence County and Coffman Middle School.(BARN BURNER). Another Unexpected thing from this game was well I can't say unexpected because it happens everytime two in county rivals play, The refs make a show out of the game. There's nothing more upsetting than a group of refs (or 1) who honestly thinks the sold out gym is there to see him. It takes the game away from the players who prepare eveyday to come out and play. At one point in the game Summertown had 18 fouls to LAW CO's 5. They allowed 0 contact AT ALL, which is probably a blessing because if Summertown wasn't in foul trouble the game could have gotten out of hand early. At the end of the game Summertown Walked over Lawrence County by 23 but the score didn't show how terrible the game actually was from every aspect. Atleast the girls game was entertaining.

Really buddy? You come out, first downgrading your own team, then downgrading LCHS that bad? It shows what kind of person you really are. Summertown did indeed play a good game. Chard and Allen have improved tremendously from last year where they could only shoot the three, to being able to drive the lane and finish. However, I believe it is not necessary to downgrade LC that bad. LC lost 6 seniors that played 90% of the minutes. It is hard for a team with hardly any experience go into that "Hoosiers" look a like gym and compete effectively. However, Summertown played a good game and deserved to come out with the W. But for your own sake, learn some respect.

  8. I think LC really came out and shocked some people tonight. GC came in overconfident, but came out with the W. It will be tough throughout the season for the Wildcats with losing 6 seniors last year that played 90% of the minutes. However, LC will shock people throughout the season as they almost did tonight. Congrats to the Bobcats and good luck to y'all through the season!

  9. My prediction for 7-AAA:

    1. Riverdale

    2. Blackman

    3. Oakland

    4. Siegel

    5. Smyrna

    6. LaVergne

I am an 8-AAA person. But I believe you have it pretty close. Maybe Oakland beats Blackman. Blackman did not impress me versus Lawrence County, even though they did win. LC played extremely sloppy, but so did Blackman. #11 for Blackman is dangerous at the top of their press though. Region 4-AAA shall compete for the state title.

  10. i agree. lawrence county will dominate 8-AAA this year. its going to be interesting to see who is going to be able to match up with the Gilbert sisters this year

lol there will be nobody, and I mean NOBODY, that will be able to match up with either of them. Not many teams will be able to guard LC's big 3 of the Gilbert's and Williams. Will also be interesting to see how Hunt rebounds from her knee injury from the summer. Good luck Lady Cats!

  11. With LC coming off a loss with hated rival Tullahoma, i dont see them losing to Cleveland with a chance to get a rematch at Tullahoma, even though the players could overlook and come out flat. I dont see any way Garland will get stopped. Look for another 100 yard game from him and a couple interceptions. LC will win by 2 touchdowns.

  12. Yes you have to include Trent "Taz" Garland he,s a human highlight reel. Pound per pound and inch per inch the best player in the district. I would pay double the admission to watch him play. No one and mean no one plays any harder than him. I think he can control the game better than anyone, he can shut you down on defense, take you to basket, post you up and out rebound everyone on the floor.

Who does he play for? I want to watch for him at the district tournament.

    Lawrence County

  13. Come on now guys: You are expecting everyone to believe that Andrews just rushed into the student section without being taunted or anything and punched a student? If he was just out to get someone from Lawrence County why did he go after one particular student? There was plenty standing on the floor for him to punch.

And you say this is because he was upset about the loss: Andrews has been playing in that gym, going to that locker room for the past 4 years They have lost plenty of games in those 4 years Never once has he or any other player rushed the student section. What makes this game different?? If Andrews were indeed mad about the loss he would have been fighting the players not the students. You were not playing you did not have one thing to do with the win!!!

Come on admit it: You guys were just mad because Andrews won the McDonald Award and you were being your usual mouthy selves!!

Truthseeker. Are you an idiot? STUDENT SECTIONS ARE SUPPOSED TO YELL AT THE OPPOSING TEAMS!!!!!!! Are you kidding me? So your saying it's Lawrence County's fault that they have fabulous fan support? You are an idiot. Just because someone is yelling at you, or what you call it "taunting" you, that doesn't give you a right to go throwing punches WHEN YOU'RE A MCDONALDS ALL AMERICAN. THAT IS ABSOLUTELY PATHETIC. The stuff that makes this game different is LC has GREAT fan support and he couldn't take the heat from our fans and the loss together. So much for an All-American. YOU EVEN HAVE YOUR OWN SHELBYVILLE FANS SAYING YOUR COACH PUSHED OUR CHEERLEADER, AND EMMANUEL GOING INTO OUR STANDS. So come on. Just admit defeat and that your players and coaches acted the wrong way. Because Lawrence County has already admitted that they were wrong by storming the court. So come on. Goodness.
