Swafford from DB is the best I've seen in a while. Not sure how he compares to the 2 already mentioned but he is great player. Foreman at DB is pretty special too!

You might want to give some love to the big guys up front. It's pretty hard to complete a pass when you are running for your life.

This is definitely the best duo that I have seen in some time. DB should definitely get a shot at the Rebels this year. Good luck the rest of the season and hopefully Cook is ok.

You never know what will happen in week 0. WB may be good enough to win this game but if they hold SC to 17, it better come a monsoon. If I'm not mistaken, they will also start a very experienced defensive line (all seniors) so the above comment about questionable lines might not be accurate. Their offensive line consists of juniors and seniors but are not as experienced. They should also have good special teams - McCarter may be one of the better return men in the area. TN Runner listed him as the #2 200m runner in the state meet last spring. Good luck to both teams on Friday night.

I played for the man years ago and can honestly say that he is one of the best coaches that I know. I understand your point that he may jump ship if a better job opens in a year or two but Heritage is his back yard not Elizabethton. He grew up in Sevier and Cocke County and was very happy at both places. He is also at the twilight of his career so I think there is a good chance that he might stay, especially if the Heritage kids accept his coaching style. He is a very demanding coach. My opinion - good hire.

The road through the region tournament just got a lot tougher for the Chiefs. They need to play well against a young Jefferson team.

It will be between Wheeler and Scales. For the reason you mentioned, Wheeler will likely win since ME is now on top. Schmidt, Smith, Lee and Ryan's will battle for 1st team.

Cherokee will be the favorite to win the tournament as the home court advantage will be a big factor. Sounds like ME had some help at home last night. It's hard to only commit 7 fouls with an agressive man to man defense.

Cherokee it sounds like Coach Burquist is pretty confident about his team's ability right now. I know Cherokee plays ME tomorrow night. It should be a great game. Did you see the Sevier County/ Cherokee game last night? Big win for a beat up Sevier County team. This will make the late season match up with ME more interesting.

Unsparing got away with a lot in the first two games so I'm not surprised by the huge discrepancy. Sooner or later a group of officials will call it closer. Numbers 12 and 19 play unbelievable defense but they also foul a lot. I didn't see the CPA game but I can see Bradshaw taking advantage of this type of pressure to get to the foul line.

Mentor was the best team that played on Tuesday - not even close. Urspring struggled against Sevier County so I doubt they get to the finals.

I thought Cherokee was the team to beat after the big win against ME last week. But I understand they didn't play well against Sevier County last Friday night. According to the Mountain Press, SC was down four starters and lead at halftime. This sounds like the same Cherokee team from last year - great one night and average the next. It may be that Cherokee relies so much on the 3. Anyway, my guess is that ME will win the next round and they will split the regular season championship. Sevier County appears to be in 3rd position which is really surprising due to all of the injuries. It's anyone's guess after that.

I know it's early but this win puts Cherokee in the IMAC driver seat. The toughest game left on the district schedule will be round 2 at East.

One player that has not been mentioned is Pippin from SC. I think she is a senior and she has battled knee injuries off and on since her freshman year. She should make an impact for SC.

Morristown East will be the team to beat in Region 1. Also, I think ME will host the region tournament this year. I'm sure SH will still be good and Cherokee should be better. SC has many injuries, lost at least 2 if not 3 starters to injuries.

According to most reports from those who attended the game, field conditions slowed the SC offense a great deal. I would think field conditions this past Friday night favored a good running game (ME) rather than a good passing game (SC).

The online SC newspaper is reporting that SC accumulated 430 yards offense last night and Lavoi was 26 of 39 for 314 yards. Their defense held MW to 204 yards, most accumulated in the 4th after the score was 21 - 0. Any thoughts on the outcome?

Your Morristown West / Sevier County outcome may be accurate but West better plan to score more than 24.

I only got to see SH play once this year but both of these kids stood out on a team with 10 or more good players. For their personal development, they need to see a higher level of competition next year. If they don't leave, SH should schedule a higher level of competition outside of the district. These kids really need to be pushed and that is probably the reason these rumors are flying around.
