  1. LOD I started to address this very issue on Saturday. If district 7AAA couldn't beat Maryville Friday night with the team Siegal put on the field then I'm not sure how 7AAA ever gets past them. Not to mention every other year we will have to go there if the number one seed survives. Combine that with the county continuing to grow and opening more high schools its very clear that the talent pool is being diluted to the point that it can't overcome the coaching limitations. If you left Seigal Friday night and drove west 9 mi. you would be at Blackman. Go east 5 miles and your at Oakland or south 9 miles and your at Riverdale. That's a lot of kids going a lot of different directions. Not to ltmention the recruiting that goes on. I don't know man, it's gonna be a tough row to hoe. :popcorneater:

Adding a school is always difficult but everything else is the same. the main thing is if the coaching stays pretty will the same. Why wouldn't great coaches want to get in the middle of the food fght in the Big 7. It doesn't get any better than that along with crowds that fill up stadiums every night. Yes its getting crowded but if you want to play with the big boys and to be seen to compete with some of the best, the Big 7 AAA is the place to be. But something has got to be done about having to play the District twice to get to the semi finall. By that time the schools are so beat up, everyone of them, thats the major problem. Forget about the adding of schools. Everyone wants a piece of the action. What a great feeling it must be to play in your home County with the best and not have to be in a watered down league with some wannabees. All of these players graduating will be remembered for years and years in the Boro and even some might even play futher in that town. What a great atmosphere.
  2. Since no one else might not post it, all the good words concerning Siegels play is appreciated and back atcha for a Maryville team that did not quit. I can say this. Siegel appreciated Maryville's fans and Coaches and players and especially the respect both teams showed each other with their play. I am not the one to answer questions about football but you might understand that to play in such a competitive District as 7AAA and then have to replay all of those teams again in the playoffs, its a wonder there were not more injuries, bruises and bumps. The nDistrict as you realize is not a cream puff District. Schools have to be deep to even play with the others. Coaching staffs understand that and set up the teams accordingly. This is a special team with some special skill players as is Maryville every year. Your observation about both schools leaving everything on the field was obvious. They did it and lived with it. All that you heard about Siegel players was true. You just didn't hear much from them as they knoew they had to win on the field. A lot of cream came to the top from both schools with their play. Just maybe, if things work out, 7AAA next fall will get their schools together with an addition of one school and go thru the revamping and rezoning and start all over again. Siegel may not be effected as much as other schools. Siegel had a lot of seniors but played a lot of players all year. The Hurry up takes a lot of smart football players and coaches. It was obvious Maryville had to have the same type players and coaches. As you know, Siegel really wanted to win and so did Maryville. Maybe another time and another field or whatever. Both schools should be prould of what happened this past Friday night. A lot of class. Good luck.

  3. First, Let's all say a prayer for an all out battle and player's safety on Thursday Night at your Thanksgiving Day Feast.

I have to disagree with the thinking a team that loses their Mr. Football QB will still play at the same level without him. I admire his effort to want to play but we all know a team loses more than just a talented athlete, you lose an all important on the field Captain, motivator and Leader which is not replaceable. wht this

Have a Great Turkey-Day!! Go Rebels!!

Thats why this athlete will make an attempt to play but he is a Senior and many have watched how he operates and some only think there is no other way but to lead. May bring out the best in both teams and just that in itself makes this one of the best games in the Playoffs. Siegel does have depth on both sides and will be well coached but what you say is true but to the degree NOT?????. Thats a wide range and nobody thinks BS will not be hanging around just waiting for the chance. The offense and Defense have now played and replayed a very hard and agressive District, one which became really familiar with the scheme. Nothing easy but this school has somethng to prove. Not been there before, have a plan, now motivated from two different areas and really wants to go on to the next level. Respects Alcoas achievements very much but to have to go thru every week the competition of some great 7AAA schools. nothing can be much mpre demanding than that. They will show up.
  4. Tom Kreager, with the DNJ, is a great journalist and seems to be on top of the best story is every major High School event aound. Of Course the main reason is he recides in the middle of a District that seems to have major stories come out of it on a regular basis.

High School athletes MO, especially high level, are predictable. They are fearless, courageous and considering the fact this one is a senior, a known leader and knows what it means to be there for his teammates no matter whether his playing time is significant or not the realization of what this means to the school and its students and to the team is important. After all, he has seen it first hand and the way a Coaches son would know after living it most of his athletic life in real time. That is the thing Maryville has to be concerned about.

He does know whats ahead of him after he has finished High School Football, the rehab and therapy to get himself ready for the next level but his time is right now and to not let his teammates and Coaching Staff down. Something tells me BS has been preparing himself for this time and this situation for some time and has also played his way thru seeing what has happened before.

Many will be watching real time and certainly following the rest of his career because only history tells whether athletes meet their potential. This action though, does one thing that is not deniable. Whatever the outcome of the game, the school and its players have set the bar pretty high for future performances and these players have set the example for the school which will be examples for the rest to follow.

And for Brent Stockstill, we all pray everything works out well.

  5. While the above article is an excellent example of good journalism, as I have been told many times by many fans, LU with the exception of a courageous effort by a senior who is playing her last year and had 22 kills for the night, the loss was not the best example of LU Volleyball who needs size to go with the current athletes to fill the gap. This is not to not emphazise to great play of the rest of the schools but only to recognize the upside of the LU team. which has opportunities of many more NCAA births in their careers.

  6. Really difficult to read all of this without hearing an official diagnosis of the problem. Who would have expecdted something like this wouuld happen. But its not over until its over, no complaints and no excuses. Siegel has gone thru a lot of things during the year and this one is no different. They heve won together, endured together and they will finish together with the way 7AAA usually does. Let the pundits continue on. This will be a great game and one they can be proud of.

  7. Sorry I think you misunderstood my reply. Everything was meant positive. I did run across Coach Cannon while I was in Mcminnville. Coach Jones did announcement retirement this year but he may wind up somewhere else. And Randy

I appreciate your info. I don't think you might have understood my post. I likely ran across coach Cannon while I lived in McMinnville. Coach Jones did retire this year.. Coach Alley got to the milestone much earlier and the other two and it is good to know how many wins are there. Everything was meant at being positive and hope many others with name their coaches and their records. Sorry for the misunderstanding. If you have anymore please post them.

  8. Head Coach, Active, pre 1976 TSSAA wins, and the rest maybe Play4keeps or Coacht would have a suggestion on how to add candidates to the list but not too restrictive because thts not what this is for. Some might even say what does it matter if they have coached head or asst and they have a point. I know a coach with an ASST coach who was head for a time and still coaching as an Assistant.

My reason for this is profiles. Looked at profiles of State Championship Coaches and couldnt find records on State Championship teams. looked at Alabama profiles and from somewhere impressive records showed up by just about every school. Bet they do it in every sport. Need suggestions but right now just might be good to have the numbers the coach just feels might be right for them. Or maybe the Tssaa might like to put the numbers on their list of coaches from the schools.

  9. I would say that the lists given are really on partial total number of players; There are a number of Universities around Jackson, Weakely County and Memphis and on the perimeter of Tennessee there are a number of of Schools. It makes one feel a little better when you consider as many students are utilizing skills in Tennessee High Schools and getting schlorships for playing while go ng to Universities. Again the major thing that is important to me is skills coming out of Universities and being of help to High Schools and Middle Schools in the State and for that matter to the Club System in the State. There are not enough Teacher/Coaches in the State or Teachers coming out of a University and teaching are being situated in elementary schools and get lost in the system and High Schools are not searching Elementary Schools for talent. Some are because some State Tournament Coaches are found coming out of Middle Schools and other schools, even assts. Certainly new teachers may have their hands full setting up their teaching curruculum to be able to coach also. But maybe they are doing other things rather than teach.

  10. With posts reguarding records continuing to show up, its very obvious that Coacht.com does not have a complete set of records of high School Coaches nor does the TSSAA. It has been rather embarassing to not know the coaching records of schools who have Volleyball and the records of some of its schools. This likely needs to come from the Coaches themselves. So lets make a stab at this and lets add a list of Middle School Volleyball Coaches also. If you are a High School Volleyball Coach and have a record of over 150 wins lifetime, please turn in your name and the number of wins on this thread..

If you are a Middle School Head Coach and have a record of wins over 150 wins in your lifetime, please turn in the list on this thread so we might have a record of your achievement up until this time. We will ask again for the records later as an update.

I would imagine that Coach Neeley will lead the list from East Ridge so don't be embarassed concerning the numbers. It is a matter of history.

  12. Impressive lists. I can remember 6-7 years ago the lists were not as long, in fact, the number on the list could be put in a large thimble. This is a reflection on some hard work and the quality of coaching being given whereever that is and with most players, it likely comes from from quite a few different directions and thats not bad. It is the direction of things. If indeed things progress, the stat I would like to be looking at is how many coaches went thru the Tennessee Education System and Graduated and are now Teaching and Coaching on the High School of Middle School Level. THERE STILL IS A NEED FOR TEACHERS WHO CAN COACH MIDDLE AND HIGH SCHOOL AND BE AD WITH VOLLEYBALL BACKGROUND. SCHOOLS NEED TO GET THEIR HEAD OUT OF THE SAND AND UNDERSTAND THE VALUE TECHNICALLY AND MONETARILY TO HAVE THESE TEACHERS ON STAFF.

  13. Just watching some past Volleyball Stars and their Schools thruout the Stateand their quest for Post Season Play, you might be interested where these players are and where some in the state might look for forwarding careers in Volleyball in life. Watching the Evory Universioty Match with Lipsomb University, Caycee Green formally of Cookeville finsihes up a great VB career with Lipscomb and enters into her last Conference matches as a Senior with Lipscomb. This All Stater has won awards thruout her career.

Caroline Carleton, of Independence and Molly Locke of Page High School, bothj All Staters play for Mercer out of Atlanta and are making their way thru the same conference as

Sophmores and are making their way tward fine careers both on and oiff the court.. Saturdays match between the two schools seemed to be like an All Star event as many past State Stars came back to watch the going on's.

Opportunities exist at many Universities thru the State and if they don't. shame on University Coaches who do ont take advantages of the talent on the Court and in the Classroom. This is where possibilities of future Hall Of Fame Coaches may finally show up or great people in other endeavors thru their life. One thing seems for sure over the past nine ., great players seem to transcind into great citizens. Many are waiting for those moments..
