  1. Game ended after 8 innings. Rossview intentionally walked 2 of the last 3 batters to load the bases and then hit the next batter to walk in the winning run making the final score 3-2 Franklin. Robertson threw a complete game for the win.
  2. It is a choice to have multiple jobs. We are only discussing the pay rate for the umpire duties. The pay rate for a JV/Var DH was $85. The basis for this pay was $65 for the Var and an additional $20 for the approx hour and half of a JV game. The increase for this scenerio is set at $10. The DH Var game was at a rate of $85. Again the basis of this was $65 for one Var game and an addition $20 for the 2nd game. Now they will receive $40 more for a 2 hour game. Since the base rate of $65 for a single game has stayed the same, the only increase is being given for those 2nd games. This works out to approximately $10/hour for that 2nd game in either scenerio. It isn't $10/hour overall but just under $5/hour.
  3. Programs get shut down because expenses are too high. Those expenses include umpire fees along with uniforms, equipment, transportation, etc. If this increase causes programs to re-evaluate they could decide to do away with JV games - or atleast do away with umpires for JV games. This ultimately hurts the program as a whole. The best thing they could do is just not have double header varsity games. I am not saying umpires are not deserving a raise but when is the last time you got the equivalent of a $10/hour raise?
  4. Are there any colleges committed to attend?
  5. Franklin has a few very talented players who should be able to make the team competitive. The players and the coach just aren't on the same page. There is probably fault on both sides but when it is all said and done the players are the ones who get on the field and play the game. Ravenwood has several good steady players in Cash, N. Kukowski, P. Carter, Fitzpatrick, Carlson, Denton, Cash, I. Kukowski and R. Carter. They manage to get the most out of their players because the players and parents, respect their coach and they play as a team. Indy has 2 D1 prospects on their pitching staff (Toscano and Miller) and Wilson (not known for his pitching but for his centerfield play) has been that 3rd pitcher to create the depth needed in these 3 game series. These boys are surrounded by Lee, Todd, and Stannard to create an infield that is not errorless but is very consistent. This team also plays like a team and players and parents have respect for their coaching staff. Do we see a common denominator here??
  6. Apparently you are not very bright, as Franklin still has to play Centennial which means if the Cougars win tonight the Rebels and Indy would be tied. I am taking the tie breaker starts with Hillsboro and works its way down. So this is how I see it. Hillsboro- (IHS 0-2, FHS 0-2) Franklin/Indy (1-1) Ravenwood (IHS 2-0, FHS 2-0) Brentwood ( IHS 1-1. FHS 2-0)- This is where the Rebels win the tiebreaker. Centennial (IHS 2-0. FHS 1-0) The edit apparently didn't come through on my first post however. Indy lost to Ravenwood as well. But, if you were a true Indy fan, you would have corrected my error rather than insult my intelligence!
  7. IndyEagle09 is not the typical IHS fan!! I don't believe FHS and Indy ended regular season in a tie. FHS lost both district games to Hillsboro and one to Indy. Indy lost both games to Hillsboro, one to Franklin and one to Brentwood and Ravenwood. This would make Franklin is the #2 seed with no tie breaker needed. I just heard that 4 teams from each district go to Regionals. Is this correct? I thought it was only the top 2 teams.
  8. You are exactly right about the hoops the teachers/coaches have to jump through in WCS. WCS has lost a few GOOD coaches to Rutherford County due to the emphasis they seem to put on athletics. Not that it really matters, but Webb hired Eubanks to be head coach when Smith left but not to teach. Eubanks had been an asst coach under Smith. He was head coach one year out of building. One of the first things Campbell did when he started was to bring Eubanks into the building.
  9. Dyson does teach. Williamson County does not hire anyone to just be "AD". They will hire coaches who are not teachers but they are usually asst coaches only for the major teams. Many football teams especially have a few coaches who are not county teachers. But the AD has to be onsite. Dyson teaches weights at IHS. In the days of Henrie, the AD had a plan period (as all teachers) and one other period for the duties associated with being AD. Probably the same for Dyson. Also, Eubanks wasn't a teacher at the high school when Campbell came on board (he was at the middle school) but Campbell wanted his FB coach to be in the building and they found a way to make it happen.
  10. I also agree with columbiaguy. The thread topic states "Best 2011 grads" it does not say "Best 2011 D1 prospects". This message board covers the whole state of TN. Some areas will have multiple D1 prospects where as some areas may be lucky to have 1 D1 prospect. Those areas with few or none can still have quality players who deserve to be recognized as the "Best 2011 grads" in their playing area.
  11. Many strong players in this class in Williamson County: Franklin High - Jake Little Ravenwood High - Richard Carter, Preston Carter, Chase Denton, Ian Kukowski, Andrew Cash Independence High - Adam Lee, Dylan Toscano, Jake Todd, Brian Miller Centennial High - Jordan Miller, Josh Edgar Brentwood - Tyler Ashcraft Sure I probably missed someone. Feel free to add to the list.
