  1. Factors that contribute to stalling are varied. Every effort must be made both coaches and referees to discourage such tactics. In the neutral position, it is the responsibility of both wrestlers, regardless of the score or time remaining to make every effort to stay within the 10 foot circle, to make contact to maneuver to set up a takedown, and to follow up by attempting a takedown. A wrestler may circle to to set up a takedown, but backing away from the opponent, avoiding contact or playing the edge of the mat are examples of stalling..... Typical holds contributing to stalling in the neutral position are: a. upper body tie-ups with no attempt to take down b... c... d... e.Leaving the 10-foot circle without making contact
  2. not sure but I know they have a high school division... my guess is all of the normal AAU classes
  3. drive, but next weekend (march 6th) Cookville
  4. whoo hooooooooooo Keep up the great work Williamson Co. and this event is yours for the keeping!!!!!!!!!!!! please I beg of you TSSAA get some music/lighting and an elevated stage for the finals. spend some of those parking profits that you never got in Chatt-town AND THE #1 concern make the D1 side DOUBLE ELIMINATION To the Tennessean do some articles in the two weeks prior to the state duals and continue to report stories through the indv. finals. Get the nominal fan interested and we can pack the arena and all concerns are answered P.S, Keep up the great Hospitality Room.... Might even think about offering a food card so anybody(wrestlers) can eat there and then go back to the rooms and relax (sleep) so coaches don't have to take everybody somewhere else then only have 30-60 min of relaxing time in the rooms--- Make it a separate area (Brown Bag room)
  5. LOGANS put up a great "healthy" chicken.... By the time I got to the pizza is was cold " hard to keep 75 pizza hot" I just happened to see the preparation room. Breakfast was PHENOMENAL better than a shoney's spread. Always a great choice of sweets. I found my self having to tip the lemonade cooler over to get it out, seemed to be a real big hit. By the way I did happen to snag one of the cakes Sat to take for the kids for the ride home. Forgot about the Mexican flavor on Sat. Was kinda worried about Making it through the finals but all was good and ended on a good note. Great Wrestling Great FOOD all weekend what more could you ask for
  6. or on the Marine Corps blocks like they had in the duals
  7. you would have to have consistency across ALL sports across the whole nation for the NFHS to allow video review. Much easier for Pros to have it ie. LESS EVENTS. If you don't have it for regular season then you cant have it for postseason SORRY
  8. Just got info this also happened in the girls finals also.
  9. NFHS will never allow video replay and the TSSAA will NEVER allow protest in any sport. #1 reason by the NFHS is the inability to have all high school events accessibility to video replay equipment. It all comes down to money who would pay for the equipment, let alone the training of the officials. How do you make sure sure every sport has the availability to a consistent view? #1 reason the TSSAA doesn't allow protest- They feel the individual associations should handle there own if they feel a call/ rule is blown. "THEY" review tapes sent to the office and will contact the official and discuss they situation with them.
  10. Accidental or not, if there are "top and bottom" marks then by TSSAA interpretation- Automatic DQ
  11. not only did he not get a medal but he should have lost all team points plus 3 more team points for the DQ. I know how bad it would suck but if all wrestlers wore mouthpieces this wouldn't happen as often (only smiley showing teeth)
  12. Yes a small school indv. is a great idea. I saw two great wrestlers each from a different school who did there best but couldn't hang with the powerhouses. One was from White station the other from hunters lane. I believe if those kids had the advantages as the top 10 placing teams they might have done better. By only having one wrestler who is at that caliber at your school there is a distinct disadvantage when facing the "big schools". I know hunter's lane didn't even have a single home dual and had a hard time getting matches becouse they only had 4-5 wrestlers on the team with a brand new coach. I think back to last year when Friendship Christian (a school of only maybe 300 students K-12) had that heavyweight, and his coach (maybe a buck 50) was the only one he got to practice with, who knows what would have happened if he had someone his own size to practice with everyday.
  13. I am sure this is one of the only areas of this weekend that I will get 100% of the people who experienced it to agree with me. For those who missed out I am truly sorry, become a coach/administrator and you will see what I am talking about. THE HOSPITALITY ROOM WAS THE BEST I HAVE EVER SEEN. That includes 4 years of hosting my own tourney in another state and 10 years in this state. From Lunch on Thurs. to dinner on Sat there was plenty of food every time I went in there and it was sometime new and exciting. Williamson Co. parents were awesome and the businesses that you got to help were terrific. The only request I heard that wasn't there was soda (go drop a dime at the concession stand). The teas and lemonade were awesome.
  14. Just trying to keep the angry mob at least a couple of exits away from you guys. Sometimes misinformation is good as long as no one revels it is misinformation. Then you'll must be at the super 8
  15. I would say yes but the weight on Sat will be the same as Fri. because the most you can increase is 2 lbs. so 103 becomes 106 for Thur. and 107 for Fri and sat
  16. while were at it why not bring up the Ed Hochilli / Tom Brady incomplete pass/fumble ruling. That call determined the winner. Mr. Hochilli is as confidant (arrogant) as they come. Refs have to be judge, jury, and executioner in a millisecond. Try doing that in your job everyday and then have people who have no idea what it is like telling you you did a bad job. I will refer to the people who posted in region 6 forum who thought that a defensive pin should have been called untill photo evidance showed the offensive wrestlers shoulder was off the mat. Refs are less then 10 feet away from the action and they called it right, yet people blasted them when they thought they saw it better from 35 feet away. Beating a dead horse here but if you think you can do a better job get out of the stands and make the calls yourself, you will see no matter how hard you try people are going to argue and tell you how terrible you are. There are good refs and some not so good refs, just like in any segment of society. good lawyers bad doctors good engineers bad politicians good council members bad cooks good servers bad bartenders good accountants bad drivers good mechanics bad electricians good web designers bad loan officers good teachers bad professors
  17. are you trying to say both refs had an agenda? Thats just absurd, I will bet you that you had a dog in the fight whereas neither one of the Refs cared who won or lost. I am also willing to bet that you will be seeing those same refs calling this week in Franklin. Those were some of the best and toughest matches I have seen. I will give it to you that the 135 match was a little funny, but I knew up in the stands, that the ref and given a reversal to the wrestler already in control after a flurry of counter/recounter/switch/reswitch that seem to last about 30 or more sec. Easy to see how he lost track in his mind. I was most impressed that he did the right thing after the match and check the score card to see his mistake, MAN UP and did the unfavorable (according to the boos) thing and make it right. They went into overtime. Again another great flurry of moves/counter moves that seem to last forever before they went out of bounds, when both guys looked up and thought they had secured a takedown. After the restart a legitimate takedown was secured and the better wrestler won. Do you think he had an agenda other than getting it right?
  18. Have all the wrestlers wear the same clothes and call them the pep squad
  19. Kudos, Great post SUMMA My grandfather always said if you don't like something find a way to become part of the solution and change it. How many of the people that complain about the officiating, want someone to come to their job and have someone yelling in your ear, about how bad of a job your doing. Imagine you and your spouse going in for a root canal and the spouse is screaming at the dentist. How good of a job is he going to do? IMHO most ref's don't know the wrestlers, nor do they care who steps up and puts on the red and green. They make thousands of split second decisions during the season, probably getting 85% right. Do I want them to be perfect of course, but even an accountant working multiple 12 hour days is bound to make a mistake or two all you can hope for is that they are doing their best
  20. Jack is an official in middle Tn. that was elected to the HOF this year. Was trying to get a laugh or two, by calling him an old man, sorry it didn't work
