  1. It was a good win, we have played well against them this season. Good to see senior Gina Dick get her 1,000th point during the game.
  2. From my understanding, first region game is played at Home of 1st and 2nd teams from each district, then the semis and champ games are played at Ootewal HS. Top two teams get to play Murfreesboro teams in Substate.
  3. Good win White Co, the Jets need more offensive options for zone; we look like prevent with a 20pt lead.
  4. Warren Co looked good last night. White Co/Cookeville at 3 and Cumberland Co/Warren Co at 6. Boys games are Stone/Cookeviile and White Co/Cumberland Co.
  5. The Jets pull an upset tonight, planets are aligned just right for this one!
  6. CCHS beat Rhea by 8, play White Co in semis.
  7. I'm having to work tonight, my wife said one of White County's post didn't play - she described her as the "red head".
  8. I can't believe ours boys thread got locked! Safe travels tonight
  9. I understand your thoughts, and I really don't have a problem with kids playing. The previous post by Nortney about winning the freshman/soph tourney without comparing "apples to apples" sent me over the edge and sent me to where I shouldn't have gone. I was seeking clarity on the JV issues months ago about playing time and eligibility; and was given that link and definition. When I saw the starters for Stone playing in JV games, it stood out to me.
  10. I trust that you are correct and I probably shouldn't have stated, "violations" without talking to the TSSAA - I apologize. I had spoke with coaches and refs about the guidelines for JV because of another situation (only playing a kid a quarter or two in JV games because they played some varsity minutes), not Stone's - and was told it was a "non starter" rule now, not the 6 quarters per night that used to be enforced. To me, the definition of JV is real clear in the TSSAA bylaws - "non-starter" or "varsity substitutes". Here is the link, page six - "Junior Varsity". http://tssaa.org/2013-14-tssaa-bylaws-constitution/ I guess Mr. McNeese should have this removed from the Constitution and Bylaws.
  11. PlauteaVol, Nortney is correct. No Juniors played in the Freshman/Soph tourney for Stone, only Fresh/Sophs. CCHS, however, did not play their two Sophs in the Freshman/Soph tourney that start for varsity in Varney and Carlton. If they did, none of the games in the Freshmen/Soph tourney would have been close; CCHS would have dominated. Stone does however break TSSAA rules in the JV games by playing varsity starters, at least they have in the two JV games this against CCHS. In both games they played a varsity starter (two in the game at CCHS). According to 2014-2015 TSSAA Constitution and Bylaws, page 6, under definitions - "Junior Varsity" - "Any level of play below the varsity level, whether denominated as junior varsity, b-team, or otherwise. The membership of a junior varsity team shall be composed of varsity substitutes and any other non-varsity players identified on the school's eligibility list." Only subs can play JV, not starters. This past Tuesday night, Melton (Jr) played in the JV game and started the varsity game. At CCHS, Stone played two Sophs in the JV game that started in the Varsity game in the same night #14 and #4. Both instances were TSSAA violations.
  12. Yes, CCHS has two under Foster which is a good thing. He got one with his very first team that went 20-9 then again a few years ago with a .500 team, but we have only won one region game during that time and it was that first team. I know it starts with district, but we need to set higher goals with regions and sub-states, etc. - sports is a mind-set, attitude, expectations - often you achieve what we aspire and work to be - the higher that we dream/strive for - the more we achieve whether it is a company, team, church, or individual - lead and they will follow!
  13. This is a big game for sure, should go down to the wire with the mighty Warriors. You guys are a tough matchup for us. We didn't play real well against Stone last night. I think Stone plays their best against the Lady Jets. When I see them play against CCHS, it puzzles me how Stone loses so many games to others?
  14. Cumberland County has a fire to them right now, Foster had them pumped last night at Stone (packed house too) - their energy was at another level - hopefully they can ride this into the tournament and against White Co on Friday. We got 32 from a freshman last night, future is bright for the Jets.
  15. It will be a pride game for you guys, #1 seed in the bag for the Warriors, but we want to get one from ya'll if we can. We need it more. The Jets played very well tonight - three wins in a row - Knoxville Halls, Rhea Co., and Stone.
  16. CCHS beat Stone 67-51 tonight. First win against Stone since '06-'07.
  17. Big game in Crossville tonight. CCHS at Stone in cross-town match. CCHS should be full strength this time with a chance to get first win against Stone - ever. Hoping for a historical night for the Jets.
  18. Cumberland Co out-score Rhea Co 30 something to 9 in second half for big win at Rhea Co. Coming down to big finish with White Co in Crossville this week.
  19. Cumberland Co plays great in 2nd half and takes a 20 pt win at Rhea Co.
  20. Stone is hurting too. Their big man (Foster) has been out with a knee injury the last few weeks, Thomas missed the Rhea Co. game, and I understand that Spence is sick, plus one of their previous starters (Norman) has been out with a broken arm. I hope everyone can get healthy for the tournament. CCHS got Cade Smith back last night for some limited action - he looked good and made some shots after being inactive for two weeks.
  21. Cumberland County got a win last night beating Knoxville Halls in Crossville. We need a "pay back" win tonight at Rhea County - Go Jets.
  22. Alumn89, you guys got up by 10-15 and never let it below that much - I like your team. #12 is a freshmen for CCHS and has gotten more comfortable of late & made some improvements. He's got to get stronger and jump a little higher in the off-season - Most importantly, we got to get our team focused for the tournament and make some upsets.
