  1. CCHS play Stone Memorial in Fresh/Soph game tonight at Stone. Our JV (which is the same team as our Fresh/Soph team - 7 players) beat Warren County JV by 4 on Friday.
  2. It is tough to beat them at their home court/atmosphere - I don't think that they have been beaten at home in like 3 years. The Clarkrange size is a hard match-up for most teams in any classification, but they are not in the best shape. To beat them, need to get them on a big court and run, run, run, run, run, run - get them tired and fouling, so you can play their bench.
  3. Cumberland County beat Warren County 67-37.
  4. Cumberland County Lady Jets shoot "lights out", beat Warren County 94-50. Warren Co holds the ball to keep from a 100 being scored.
  5. One of the dad's from Rhea Co said that they had beat Stone early this week pretty good. CCHS plays Stone and White Co. next week.
  6. Rhea Co is good and big, but CCHS hold on for 54-37 win. Rhea Co will be a dangerous bunch.
  7. Cumberland County travels to Rhea County tonight for Fresh/Soph games. I think both games will be competitive. Rhea Co. boys have several tall freshmen 6'3"+ and I understand that they have a real good freshman girl. Any other games in the district tonight or before?
  8. Cumberland County has played a decent schedule so far and has only lost by double digits once to Haywood High School out of West Tennessee - by far - the best team we have played this year. We've played primarily AAA schools in Karns, Farragut, Halls out of Knoxville and East Hamilton and Ooltewah out of Chattanooga, plus the Clarkrange game. We are 2-5, two of those OT loses, could very easily be 6-1 if shots/calls fall our way. Haywood is on another level with one major D1 player - best team (deepest) that I have seen this year. Looking forward to district action starting tomorrow night against Warren Co..
  9. White County is strong and currently playing without their most important player (in my opinion) in the Crosland kid. They are having little trouble with their opponents now, they will only be better when he returns.
  10. Jets fall short at Ooltewah, lose by 4 in OT. 2nd OT loss to 5AAA teams this season. Getting ready for district action , we've lost too many close games! Got to finish.
  11. Cumberland Co up 40-36 over Ooltewah at half; Jets had 10pt lead, but get in a little foul trouble.
  12. 6AAA is roughing up 5AAA two nights in a row. CCHS beat Ooltewah 83-27.
  13. Watching the White Co Warriorettes whip Ooltawah 47-13. Freshman #22 looks good; might be better than last year? Clarkrange game will be a measuring stick game next week.
  14. I hope to get over there for that one; there might be a good section of CCHS Jets over there. CCHS goes to Ootlewah tomorrow night. This wasn't much of a game the first time - wonder if football players will help Ootlewah?
  15. They are good and big. I thought that CCHS would wear them down with the pressure especially with one of their guards out, but CR passed it really well and made their shots and free throws. CR stayed in a zone for the game which kept them from getting into too much foul trouble themselves because they have no bench. The CR girls seem very "out of shape", but they made up for it with good passes and some hustle plays. The small floor at CR helps them; I think CCHS and others may have more success on large courts. CCHS didn't shoot well from outside and big CR girls controlled the paint area. CR is a top 10 team in Tennessee regardless of classification or they played like it last night. Good luck next week Warrior - where is the game played at?
  16. Cumberland County get a double digit win tonight at Clarkrange; Junior Drew Vaden gets his first 2-hand slam for the Jets.
  17. Better game than the final score; CCHS up most of first half, CR makes a run right before half with several 3-balls. CCHS just couldn't get it below 10 it seemed in 2nd half. CR hits free throws to close it out. I thought CCHS would get this one; just a tough place to win.
  18. First game tonight for Cumberland County, Lady Jets beat Warren County 59-29 in Crossville.
  19. Cumberland County freshmen/soph win 77-41 over Warren County. The Jets shoot a very high percentage including 10 - 3's and good "team" ball. You can really tell the core group has been playing together since 3rd/4th grade.
  20. He's playing both and some JV - I think. He hasn't played much on varsity - spot duty. The CCHS freshmen class has seen some defections and injuries this fall. Two freshmen have had their knees scoped this fall and one broke his hand last week and had to have surgery - out for the year. They had 15 freshmen in the spring, lost a few to Stone over the summer, and then several quit this fall - two good size post that would have helped them in a few years - down to 7 freshmen now. I'm still hopeful this core group will be strong, but it doesn't look as good as it did a few months ago.
  21. Cumberland County plays Warren County tonight in Crossville. Not sure if this is the first game(s) or not. I noticed that Cookeville is not on the CCHS schedule?
  22. Junior Lady Jet, Mackenzie Iles, enters the 1,000 point club for Cumberland County High School last night against East Hamilton. Lady Jets are rolling along averaging about 80 pts a game, big game this week at Clarkrange Tuesday night.
  23. Cumberland County lose in OT on last second shot to East Hamilton. CCHS lead most of the game at home, tough loss to go to 1-4, could easily be 4-1.
  24. Cumberland County got it's first win last night at Knoxville Halls, won by 20. Stone beat Clarkrange by 1 tonight.
  25. Match Ups: Central Park Christian, AL vs. Cumberland County Brentwood Academy vs. Cleveland H.S. Ensworth HS vs. Alcoa HS Livingston Academy vs. St John Paul II, AL
