  1. according to email i received from Christi Lewis on wednesday june 30 there are six teams entered Fury 95 Fury 96 Tn Xplosion Crusaders Tn Illusions 96 Hot Stix 96 Any others out there planning on coming?
  2. Those teams who qualify and continue to play in qualifiers have absolutely no integrity for other teams trying to get a berth, but i am a firm believer in "what comes around, goes around", and i don't even have a dog in this fight. Guess this is where i respond.... First off i don't hide behind some other name everyone knows who i am when i post, maybe the rest of you should do the same. I realize it isnt a popular decision to play in a qualifier when already qualified but we certainly aren't the first team to do that. Not to mention Mizuno and Tornados dont want the berth if they win. We are playing this week because i had planned to take off next weekend from the beginning of the year to watch my son play in his world series and we cant take two weeks off. This was the best competition for our girls so it was our best option. Sorry if you guys are offended but my first obligation is to my team and getting them ready for nationals. As far as integrity for other teams, not sure what that is about but if you can't beat a 96 team in Chattanooga then your chances in Illinois are slim. As far as what comes around goes around thats a nice theory but we have never backed down from competition and would gladly welcome the best teams in any tournament, qualifier or not. We want to EARN our spot in nationals and if we don't then we will do something different. Dont worry about us just beat us and if we do happen to win it then beat everyone else and get 2nd and you will still get your berth. The only way to prepare for Nationals is see the best possible pitching you can every week. They do that in California every week, we see it three or four times a year and that is the difference in the west coast and the east. They want the competition and we run from it. Personally, i could care less about getting a berth and then getting 50th place in Nationals and that is exactly what will happen to most Tennessee teams because they dodge the competition. Sorry if we offended anyone but we are doing what is best for our team this week. Good luck to everyone.
  3. Yes congratulations to Eddie Towns and the Mustangs. That whole team is a class act and a great softball team.
  4. The head of the umps came up and told them if it continued to rain for another five minutes they would probably stop the game. Weather was never a factor and not at all in championship game. Xplosion imploded throwing the ball all over the park fielding bunts late in the game. Tad is the most hated coach in softball, well with maybe the exception of me, LOL so i can assure you there is no home cooking going on for him. I'm sure he gets better calls when he is out of town and no one knows him.
  5. That is funny. I happend to be there watching. It started raining when Illusion was in the field and when they changed pitchers she threw several wild pitches that they wanted to blame on rain. That was after changing out ball several times and coaches walking towels to the mound. It certainly was not a wet ball issue. I can speak from experience had this happened in Hendersonville you could not even change out the ball and i think the Illusions can vouch for that. Illusions played great game and have a great team but the weather did not beat them as they were proclaiming as they left. I hope Illusions get their berth because i think they will represent Tennessee very well in Illinois. Good luck.
  6. Congrats to Fury 95 for punching their ticket to Illinois by winning 5 straight games Sunday. Nice job girls. Two berths left who will get them, this board is very silent in 14U at the moment.
  7. Brackets are out for Chattanooga qualifier. Nine teams trying for the 2nd berth. Who gets it between Valley Thunder, Firebirds, Illusions, Silver Eagles, Worth 95, Fury 95, Diamonds, Easton 95, and Xplosion?
  8. Should be a fun tournament, every team will be at full strength and we will find out how we stack up at the first of June.
  9. Falcons Elite does have a very good team, the problem is they play "B" class tournaments most weekends so it is hard to gauge how they match up against the best. The true test will be in August in Illinois if you truly want to know but you must come qualify first. They don't just let anyone show up.
  10. The Fury Friendly 7-game guarantee tournament will be held March 13-14 at Tyner Park. We are still taking 12U and 14U teams for this event and the entry is $275. There are currently 9 teams in 12U and 5 in 14U. If interested call: Kirk Lewis 423-667-7505 or email KLewis118119@comcast.net
  11. if we didn't qualify we would go to ridgedale, mississippi for the southern nationals. That is about the best backup plan available.
  12. thanks wicks we still have the core group from that 10U team but this is a much stronger, deeper team on paper. Of course you never know how that translates to the field.
  13. Frost Comets made a great run it was just too spread out to do another year. 8 players off that team on Fury 96.
  14. last inning i assume you meant we could pat ourselves on the back or maybe it was pet ourselves. Either way i'm getting so old and fat my arm doesn't reach around anymore, but i will try and work on that. FWIW Our record is what it is and i know there are many haters out there. We play to win and don't apologize for it. Good luck to your team last inning.
  15. You have to win a qualifying tournament to get a berth. It looks like there will be four berths. If you finish second in a qualifier and the winning team has a berth it can be passed down to the second place finisher. One way to get in extra Tennessee teams is if the Fury 95 can qualify for the Hall of Fame tournament in Oklahoma City. The top eight finishers in that tournament get a berth which would mean there could be five teams from Tennessee go. There will probably only be 8 to 10 teams even try to qualify. Here are the ones i have heard want to go: Fury 95 Fury 96 Silver Eagles Worth 95 Valley Thunder Illusions after that i am not sure, if there are more teams out there wanting to go let us hear from you. Most teams from Tennessee choose to go to the Beach and play USFA, a fun tournament but no comparision in competition to ASA Nationals. A top ten finish at ASA Nationals and you can truly call yourself a national contender, no other association can match it. We won two USFA class "A" world series titles and basically we were the best in the southeast plus Texas. The teams from California and Arizona don't play USFA. We look forward to seeing the Silver Eagles join ASA, good luck.
  16. nice post silver eagles coach, the Fury 96 looks forward to seeing you guys this summer because playing good teams only makes us better. Good luck to your team and look forward to meeting you. Fury 96
  17. Anyone actually seen Silver Eagles play?
  18. yeah it is, but you always get one that has some lame excuse as to why they don't play ASA Nationals. The bottom line is, if you want to measure your team, measure them against the best. Worth 95 has a very good team and we look forward to competing against them for a berth to Moline. There are only 4 berths to Nationals so everyone cant go, i realize that, just hope its not us. By the way, if we don't go it won't be because we didn't try. For the earlier post Lady Aces moved up to 16U.
  19. sorry if i implied we just went to ASA Nationals for the heck of it Fury 96 resume: 2007 10U ASA Nationals 13th 2009 12U ASA Nationals 5th oh and we also were 2009 12U ASA Hall of Fame Champions Is there another Tennessee team with that track record?
  20. Don't think Worth 95 has ever beaten Fury 95. Saw Worth 95 go home very early in Gallatin this past fall in a tourney Fury 96 won. Fury 95 has picked up two outstanding new pitchers. This is the first time they have had legitimate depth in the pitching category. Those two teams should not be in the same category. Just my opinion which means nothing. I will say Charlie is a much better coach than Tad. LOL. Has Worth 95 ever done anything even a top 25 at ASA Nationals?
  21. I will have to agree with you bucketdad, Fury 95 should be head and shoulders above everyone else in state. The pressure will be on them to make a good showing at Nationals. Afterall, you are only judged nationally on that one week. They have the players to make a nice run. I was just being nice to the Silver Eagles because they were so adamant about how good they are. Fury 95 will spank them good. I am looking forward to getting my spanking from Tad and group, it only makes us better to play them. Some of the teams you have never heard of have quality players, you should get out more.
  22. Lets have some fun and see what everyones preseason rankings are for the 14U division. 1. Silver Eagles 2. Fury 95 3. Worth 95 4. Illusions 95/96 mix 5. Nashville Cruisers 95 6. Mizuno 95 7. Valley Thunder 8. Frost Falcons Elite 9. West Tennessee Wild Things 10. Fury 96
