  1. Brad Mason only played offense from the half way point of the season on. I dont think it will be a devastating to the team at all due to the fact that the defense played and succeeded without him. Legitimacy of one's posts, on the other hand, can be devastated by incorrect information.
  2. I would say as usual Bearen will be the toughest upcoming opponent. I dont expect greenville to be down at all unlike others on here. They are usually pretty tough to beat and I would hope they would be with the Niswanger (sp?) money thats poured into the school. Seiverville is right up there with those three and I would say Morristown West will be the fourht toughest game for Jefferson County.
  3. To answer your question dvp4life, I think he was just recently cleared but I am not 100% on that. Tommytrojan, to be honest with you I think through the years as each sport becomes so physically specific they have definatly grown apart. I think football has evolved into much of an agility game where you have to be able to move from side to side and have the quick burst where as in track it is just straight speed and the quickest sprinter is not always the fastest. Also, I think total strength is not as important in track as it is football. Now by no means am I a track expert, this is just my observations on each and how I think they have grown seperate as everything becomes more detailed.
  4. Either Tommytrojan forgot his password and had to make a new screen name or MW posters are very uncreative when it comes to thinking of names. I cant decide which one it is.
  5. Yes, I am obviously biased having played for Coach Anderson. On the flipside though, I know what he is like as a coach and I am very encouraged by it. He works much, much harder than many people realize. It pains me to know the work he puts in and the the credit, or lack of, he gets. Another thing that pains me is the assumption that this year is going to be the same as its always been when it is clear that progress is being made. It hasnt been easy progress. The seniors on the 2008 squad came close to getting the ball rolling but momentum was stopped by an unorthodox season in 2009 that saw many major players go down with injuries. We all know last years team went 5-5. Even with bias, I do not deny it. However, even without bias you should see that an unheard of amount of starters are returning. Many of those have taken this offseason more seriously than ever. If a year rolls around and you are in the position to say "I told you so" than I will humbley say "I was wrong." Until that time we wait.
  6. You know the funny thing is you say that many players are the ones coming to the defense of Anthony but the only reason they do that is his teamates believe in him. They believe that he is an effective leader and gives the team the best chance to win. If his teamates respect him and believe that he is in a position that gives the team the best chance to win than I believe 100% he is in the right spot. The coaches can move players around all they want to but in order for the team to play effectively the team has to believe in the man under center. I think its safe to say you could ask any patriot football player and they will tell you they believe in anthony. Also, from reading several posts I see very little crying from anybody. I see arguements with factual evidence behindthem. It actually appears to me that you are the one crying more than anyone else on here. I see many who do look for improvement and who see improvement. You, jchs1team, are the only crying "fire the coach, the qb sucks, theres no way this team can win." Why throw stones when you live in a glass house?
  7. The thing you are missing out on jchs1team is football is a game of give and take. You are saying teams key on Anthony which is true given the fact that the patriots are an option team but I want you to imagine something. If the patriots were a pass heavy offense and Anthony was a top of the line WR, than dont you think they would key on him than too and try to take him out of the gameplan? They would. Now as I posted earlier, the numbers of the JCHS passing attack have continued to rise. If they jump even by a marginal amount this year the team will be approaching balance and when a team is balanced than you cant key on that one person like you could before. The key will be to just develop the passing game which anybody around the football complex will tell you Anthony is working his tail off to refine that part of his game. You posted earlier that height is a factor for a QB, well Anthony is around 6'1". I think that is plenty tall enough. QB may not be the position Anthony plays in college but his athleticism will allow him to continue serve him will at that position in high school. I have said it all along, he will turn some heads this year as will the entire patriot team.
  8. Oh I do enjoy some good humor tommytrojan. I just dont always show it. I never at one point got frustrated with your posts. I really did enjoy going back an forth but it was more a battle of wits to me. Thats why I said earlier that you won't get any kind of emotional response out of me. I am just a debater. I always have been. I am the type that enjoys taking the opposite side. I may not believe it but I just have fun argueing. That being said, I am also an IMAC supporter and as obnoxious as I was earlier about that playoff game I was actually there. I did very much want MW to pull it out. I have a cousin who attends catholic so it was a my conference vs. his kind of thing. Anyways, since we are all getting along now and I do notice there arent any MW threads up what are you all looking like this year? We are all football fans and football is football and its a long offseason for all of us. The Jeff co fans are just as intrested in their competitors as they are themselves as I am sure is the case with you seeing as you posted on this thread.
  9. Well what was it you played with then? Thats still pretty creepy. Its ok though. As I said earlier, Im not prejudicial so you dont have anything to worry about. Anyways, that is beside the point. At Jefferson County maxs dont count if the bar is touched. A coach must actually see the max take place for it to count. I have even seen a coach spot just to ensure that the bar was not touched. The 40 times must be pretty accurate seeing as Goins ran a 4.5 lazer timed and if you didn't read earlier it is posted online. These number apparently seem to be a concern as I see several threads about off season workouts. Also, if strength and speed numbers were irrelavent than why do so many people watch the combine? They watch it because they like to know how athletic players are. It is the same with Jefferson County fans keeping track of the teams numbers. We just like to know how the team is progressing. Is it wrong just because West fans dont care enough about their team to do the same? I think not. By the way, if the patriots beat the two teams you mentioned because they are "down" than they WILL be in the playoffs. You are quite an intresting person TommyTrojan but you will not get an unintelligent, emotion filled rubbuttal out of me.
  10. You know I have three brothers and no sisters. Dont worry though I wont judge you based on your attraction to them. Despite what you say, the sarcasm in your first post was quite telling. You implied that no matter how strong or fast the team gets they will just be mediocre. Our optimism in the patriot football team is not because they are good numbers that the team will be successful because of them. Its that the numbers demonstrate progress being made by the team and its shows that a young team last year is growing up. That, my friend, is worthy of our optimism.
  11. Given your enjoyment of trashing Jefferson County on the message board just for a response, I would say that you enjoy playing the latter part of your post every friday night. If the system is changed to reward strength of schedule than the patriots would have been in the playoffs this past year. If the patriots would have played the Trojans schedule than the records would be near identical. Sure your team won the head to head match up but by what one play? I think in the conditions that the game was played in that play could have easily gone either way. All in all, I do feel quite sorry for you though. There are no other MW fans to talk with positively about your own team so you have to resort to bashing opposing teams. Boy, you must be lonely on those friday nights...
  12. Nah, I am sure your friends are just still shaking from that Catholic game last fall.
  13. Very, Very well said OHSgrad. To be honest, I dont believe I have ever seen one positive post from eastTN. Having been a casual viewer for the past two years, I have simply just never seen one post that supported the JCHS players or coaches. Also, I am pretty sure in hid definition of an effective leader he also defined an effective soldier. In this day in time, you can not be an in the moment general without being in the midst of combat. It is just impossible. Even since the civil war most generals have been in the thick of it. Ever heard of a man named "Stonewall" Jackson? He stood with his troops to defend his position in the Battle of Bull Run. What about Theodore Roosevelt in the Spanish-American War? He formed his own battalion just to fight and he must have been effective because he ended up president. You see how most generals are in the thick of the fighting and are usually just soldiers in combat.
  14. Anthony does run track and he has done quite well with it. I believe he has competed at state every year. If you go on espnrise and type "charles goins" than a video will pop up of him and he actually says his 40 time of around 4.5 that was lazer timed at a nike SPARQ camp (I realize this information was posted in another thread but it is relavent information here too). The conclusion I have come too is the difference is speed and acceleration. Some people are just fast and have a good top speed, Deon Sanders could get up to speed insanley fast which is what equals speed in pads. Before you say "well Goins isnt quick then," he also had a pretty stout pro-agility time too.
  15. EastTNfootball, Im sure your not a big nfl fan so I guess you missed the whole wildcat thing that started in miami with Ronnie Brown and now has hit every team in the NFL. If you didn't know which given your last post I assume you didn't. The wildcat formation is a variation of a single wing offense in which the BEST offensive athlete is put at QB. Try telling Miami that having the best athlete at QB won't work If you want a high school example than did Tee howell not take snaps at QB for East? Now to adress the rest of your idiotic post, I find it quite fascinating that you are comparing a mostly senior squad quarterbacked by Zach Long to down a mostly junior team piloted by Anthony Goins. Its also amazing that you believe 6-4 is SOOO much better than 5-5. I think this group of upcoming seniors will easily meet the 6-4 mark. Than what will you say? "Well...ummm...zach long was still a better QB" If you just give these kids a chance to grow up like most do over their junior to senior year than I think they will be alright. Its people like you who just enjoy ripping a group that came in with hype. The reason they had hype was they won. Its still more than most others can say. Also, most generals are troops who have been promoted due to excellent performance. I just thought I'd let you know on that too.
