  1. No no you misunderstood or I did not make myself clear. Sorry. When I meant they didnt care I was talking about trying to get a scholarship from CN or working with their coaches. The seniors have played well and havent needed the extra reps but, Im not saying it wouldnet help. I know Evan is seriously considering playing at UT and I heard tonight Lambert might be going to a school in Alabama. I was not meaning these guys didnt care about the team or winning.
  2. Yes it has been a down year for several guys hitting but, to me I believe they would be going to CN to get extra reps and work out of their slumps with a well known coach. The reason no seniors are going to CN is probably because they dont care. 2 have already committed to colleges, 1 just pitches, 1 is only focused on school, and the other rarely plays. I would encourage my players who are not going to CN to go hit with college coaches and take advantage of what they are offering. A player going to hit at CN is not to blame for a bad hitting season. Now Im not a parent but, I do have a very strong intrest in baseball and the Jefferson County baseball program. This team has lost so many games this year simply because Seals cannot manufacture runs and defensive errors but, thats another story. This team does not bunt, hit and run, or steal. The team has left several runners on base in most of their loses. If hitters are not driving in runs why not be aggresive and try a squeeze or hit and run to get runs across the plate. An example would be at Sevier County the other night. The Patriots left at least 15 runners on base. I saw no hit and runs and only one bunt that was not exacuted. I think the team has okay chemistry and all the kids want to win I just think the coaches need to learn to coach. If can honestly tell me that Coach Doug Seals and Coach Keith Jones are good coaches, you my friend do not know baseball. A good coaching staff could have this team in the state tournament.
  3. I was just informed that yesterday Coach Jones had a meeting with the team and was very angry about some of the players going to Carson Newman College to hit regularly. He told the team to stop going to CN because those coaches and players were teaching and preparing them to hit in college not high school. I was told Coach felt like any player that hit at CN should sit the bench. I'm not sure what Coach Jones problem is, but I find this ridiculous. Why would he not want his players to go hit and get better at CN? I know for a fact that every coach at that college has been around the game longer, has more baseball knowledge, and has had more sucess than Coach Jones. Im not sure if Coach Jones is jealous because his players do not buy into his bullshvt career and coaching stats or his coaching ways or what. The coaches at CN are doing a huge favor for the boys that go over there and hit and helping them get better. If the high school coaches would actually let the players hit when they want and help them when they want the players maybe wouldnt have to go to CN. Anyways it makes no sense for Coach Jones to say or enforce anything that his players do at CN .
  4. Great game tonight. No errors and solid hitting early. Coach Seals made a timely pitching change and we battled till the end. If we can continue to split with the good teams in our district and sweep the weaker ones things should work out well for this team. Still waiting on a reply post P3B
  5. You are an idiot. The older group of the Silver Eagles team won 3 state championships in a row and finished 17th and 9th at the world series when they were together. The newest Silver Eagle team did not perform up to the level of the past group however, I think there are 2 players on varsity that have played for the most recent Silver Eagles. Most players from that team came from Morristown. You may be confusing the Silver Eagles with the Dandridge Eagles or whatever that joke of a team was. The reason the JV was sucessful last year had a lot to do with Sinard i agree but, most of the JV teams they faced did not have the same number of sophomores on the team as we did. Any good Soph. would be on varsity for oposing teams and their JV consisted of mainly freshman. As far as our infield and mainly SS goes he is a solid all around player. Majority of balls put in play involve the SS. Errors happen and it's the good players that can let it go and make up for the errors at the plate or defensively and ultimately help the team win. The team played average defense but the team still wins. As the season goes on the D will step it up and stay close with good teams. Now, I dont know who is on the bench that you think should be starting everyday so please inform me because I cant wait to get a good laugh.
  6. I was glad to see the adult who has no son on the team work and push these kids like he did over the past 2 summers. He had those boys at the hittng facility almost everyday. These boys also worked out at CNC many times as well. I am thankful for the men that push these boys and all the time they put in and get nothing in return. I hope the coaching staff will see how far this team has come and continue what has been accomplished over the past two summers. Im glad to see how hard the players have worked and time they put in and hope it pays off for them.
  7. Seems like the Patriots always struggle with defense most years. I know Ausmus is solid up the middle and Kirkpatrick is good outfielder. I don't remember Tipton, Jett, and Pots playing in the field much last year, but i know they can hit so are they actually good defensive players also? Who will be the go to guy on the mound this year? I know Lambert threw well last year and Kirkpatrick probably cant pitch this year so I'm guessing Lambert will be number one but who follows him? Is Underwood returning this year?
  8. Really?? Its not a teachers job to make sure a student makes straight A's. All they have to do is teach the material and a student can do what they want with that. A coach on the other hand has to develop his players and get them to play hard and win. A good coach knows a team and players are gonna have to work hard to be sucessful. Do you think kids that come from powerhouse high school football programs that have won numerous state championships such as Pahokee, Brynes, and Miami Northwesten get into D1 colleges and not work had because they have been very sucessful in the past Your agruement is just not valid. Do these kids not think after their sophomore year they need to work hard? You just don't understand how lazy your making the team sound.
  9. Wow! This is a great post. There is noway I can take what you just said seriously. Are you just joking around here or what?
  10. I'm sorry but someone is to blame if these kids have thought winning would always be easy and come naturally. If you didnt know there are some kids out there that want to win and be sucessful, and know it wont come easy. Therefore, they are working their tails off each and everyday to get to that level of competition they desire. If these seniors are just now realizing they have to work hard to get better and be a good team, someone has made a major mistake in developing these players. I want this team to be sucessful just as much as anyone, but until some personal and attitude changes are made its hard for me to believe this team will ever return to the glory days.
  11. Im just wondering why the past few years the Patriots have been undersized, slower, and shown less football knowledge than their oponets if they are steadily improving and working out everyday?? It is hard for me to believe they are working out like other sucessful programs in the area. Where are the results???
  12. This is a message board and a place where people express their opinions. Its obvious some people will like the things being done and some will not. If you don't like or cant handle the things being said GTFO! As far as work ethic goes i really would like to see what these kids go through in their workout class Coach Anderson teaches. I mean seriously how hard do you think Coach Anderson works them out? Correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't think these kids know what it means to work hard and get better.
  13. I'm interested in what the team will look like this year and where they will finish in the IMAC. Also, who are the top players and any starting lineup predictions?
  14. What you have said is very true. Anybody with an extreme work ethic and motivation can possibly become a D1 prospect. The problem is there aint no kids on this team with that kind of work ethic. Kids today just aren’t dedicated to the game like they use to. To be honest I’m not sure if the coaching staff has the work ethic and dedication to prepare the kids for the next level.
  15. Personally I don't believe Goins is what his father talks him up to be. He rarely makes the right decision with the football, not a leader, and cannot manage a game or his team. I think the coaching staff should give the Bible kid a fair shot at the starting job. He has a great arm and technique and with Ausmus being a playmaker we got to get him the ball and Goins just doesn't seem to realize that. If we get steady QB and OL play this team has some experience on defense and hopefully can beat the teams they suppose to. As far as college prospects go, this team is pretty weak. Only two that would have a shot would be Ausmus and Jenkins. Jenkins has good size and in the right system could become a good lineman. Ausmus is one heck of a baseball player and should have several baseball scholarships to consider over football. The difference in speed and knowledge of the game it takes at the next level is a big jump and these boys just aren’t coached up to the level they need to be.
