Yeah I agree. You know some years once you get to the glass house you’re thinking if your team can get a good draw you can avoid a really good team until the semis or even the finals but this year every single game is going to be a battle with this many really good teams. Should be fun to watch!

I really believe that Class-AA is the toughest from 1-10 in all classifications.   There are so many really good teams around the state in this class.  The coaches and players are some of the best the state has to offer.  If your lucky to make the 8 getting to the Glass House, you better be ready to play or you might leave early.  Good luck to all your teams and hope to we get to see ya at Murfreesboro !

AA is really really good. You got Summertown, Cannon County, Loretto, Cheatham County and Huntingdon battling for a couple of spots. You got Westview, Gibson County and Peabody battling for a couple of spots. You got East Nashville, York McMinn Central, Gatlinburg Pittman that all are tough outs. I probably have missed some that will be battling as well. It is always a great event for sure. Really enjoy it. I agree on the draws. No easy games.

The East Tennessee side has some great teams as well. York, McMinn Central and Gatlinburg Pitman are as good as anyone in AA.

You're spot on. AA has got some really good teams. It looks like it is the dominant class for sure. McMinn Central, Gatlinburg Pitman and York are really good. It is a blessing to get there for sure and if you win it it is the every day gift that keeps giving.

Region 5 and Region 6 have 4 of Coach T top ten 2-A girl basketball teams.  Loretto, Summertown, Huntingdon and Cheatham County will battle it out for 2 spots to the state.  There are other good teams in these regions, but these are at the top of my picks.  I'm not sure there is a tougher road to the state, but this will make for some fun watching basketball.

I hear Cannon County is pretty good in your Region. I didn't know until a few days ago that Cheatham County was in Huntingdon's Region. I would think Cheatham, Huntingdon, Summertown and Loretto favorites to be in substate. Heard Loretto and Summertown with another big battle last night. Probably the best rival in the state.

    Good win tonight!

I appreciate it Hawk. The first half was about a good of battle as you will see. Both teams were throwing punches. Both teams led a few times. Gibson County got hot in the second half and started hitting a bunch of shots. Thought our team played very aggressive especially offensively. Sad deal to see the young star PG get hurt. Very good player and really fun to watch. Prayers for this young lady and the players, coaches and her family.

She’s out for the season from what I hear. Yes the game was a tale of two halves tonight. Westview hung for one half but Gibson co hit some shots and Westview didn’t in the second half and then it got away

I sure do hope not. She is a great player. Assistant told me it was her ankle and that he thought she would be Ok. Never know though. Hopefully she will get better this week with some likely rest with the snow. She hit a couple of big shots herself. I was impressed with her. I do think every game will be a dogfight. Tonight and chapter 1 went to Gibson County but these games can go either way on a given night.

The two time defending state champs that lost their whole team from last year except two players!  There are going to be more games like that for them too for the remainder of the season I’m afraid. They have no post play and just lost their starting point guard to injury tonight. You shut down Sims and Alexander and you beat them 30+

Hopefully the PG will be ok. The Westview assistant said it was an ankle. Prayers that she is Ok. They made some big shots in the first half. Alexander is a great shooter. Had about 4 or 5 lead changes in the game. Gibson County shot the ball as good as they have all year in the second half. I do think the Westview Gibson County future matchups will be tough games as they always are. Haskins is a great coach and will learn from this and regroup.

I'm not the dude to ask about restricting people's liberties, I hate the thought of it. There are fine points regarding the law of the land as it relates to the constitution though... speech can only be "chilled" by an authority if the speech in question meets certain criteria for threatening harm, inciting violence, and disturbing peaceful assembly. Adhere to the Bill of Rights when dealing with the public and I'm good with keeping the peace.

As for the good Sherriff I'm sure that he means well, but his assessment of who owns the facility is skewed... the people to whom he was speaking "own the facility" if it's a public school. It will probably require a violation of someone's civil liberties by a governmental agency, and a large settlement paid out to officially clarify where the boundary is between the right to free speech and inciting a disturbance or violent behavior. My guess is that it won't be much longer before it happens with the current way folks act coupled with the ignorance and disregard of basic human liberties by most authority figures.

Wilkins got a technical for shrugging his shoulders up like what was the call and the ref slapped a tech. Anyway the girl that shot the FT's missed the first FT and our fans cheered that she missed the FT and a Creekwood scorekeeper who they say is a school administrator looked into the crowd and said to stop cheering against her because she was a Freshman and was 14 years old. We told the scorekeeper we aren't going to stop cheering because we paid our money to cheer our team and he sent the sheriff over. It was a girl and she talked to me like I agree with y"all this is a total circus here but I have to kick any of y'all out of the gym if they tell me too. No profanity just cheering for our team and they didn't like it. I would say that every ball out of bounds went to the home team and they shot about 35 FT's to our 8-10 and ours were at the end of the game. We went into a four corner up 14 with 7 minutes left in the game so we would have enough players to finish the game. We had our post foul out early in the 4th and we had most of our players with 4 fouls before it was over.

Officials  not only that way in basketball but any other sport / it goes beyond home court advantage when they go to their bench in timeouts and have discussions with their coaches ( don’t know what they could be talking about - or do I )

It was a different place for sure and we were warned about it. I will be honest I kinda blew it off but I doubt our coach will ever send his team back up there. I wouldn't if I was the coach.

Some of the lucky ones haven't experienced what you're talking about pioneer... there's a certain region that we used to schedule 3/4 teams from every other year home/away (one game a year). In the years we travelled across the river, you just knew that if you were good enough to win that you'd have to beat the refs too. Not talking about "iffy" calls either... talking about how on earth could he/she call that???

Yeah you get the point. Question. What is your take on the administration going  to the opposing crowd and telling them not to yell any more for their team or they would be thrown out?? What do you think about the sheriff coming up to the fans and agreeing with them 100% but telling them I have to throw y'all out if they ask me too because it is not my facility if y"all keep cheering?? But their girls are a pretty good team and play hard and very likely in Murfreesboro.

My only thought to this is: We don’t rebuild, we reload! See y’all in march! McNeal & company will be ready for the challenge of defending our state championship!

You’re always on point with your opinion on everyone, but we going to show the state why we are one of the best in state

I think AAA is wide open. Talent wise I like Dyersbirg but you never know how 15-17 year olds are going to play. HS games go by pretty fast. You come out and miss two or three and the other team hits two or three and it turns into a dogfight. You get a chance to watch White County and Cumberland County this year?? I think that District with Livingston Academy and Upperman might be competition for West TN down the road at state. Going to be interesting. South Side definitely was impressive in the East TN Tournament.

Taylor went to TN Tech. Her back problems really became an issue after her sophmore year. She retired from basketball & graduated early. She's engaged and will be getting married this year I believe. She graduated from SG in 2018.

She was a great player. Very aggressive and was a leader for sure. I have been to a lot of State Tournaments and she could hold her own with the best of them.

Yea I heard! Never know how it will go, should be different refs but you never know. Just win & help yourself!

Well Hawk yes it should be but you never know. Just saying everybody has a home court advantage to some degree with fans yelling etc...but it is a different set of rules there.

I'm curious about your insight from Crockett. I haven't seen them play but based on their record/SOS I've had them on the radar. Thought about going to watch them play tonight.

They have a nice post who uses her body really well and gets good positioning, have a good PG who is athletic and can take it to the rim and shoot it, also got a couple of other shooters as well. Kayla has done a great job with them. They have 23 girls I think. Just don't get rattled either. Pretty solid.

South Side and South Gibson not what they were last season. Especially South Gibson. I have seen them 3 times and they play hard but injuries have really hurt them. South Side could put it together and make a run. They are figuring out what they need to do without some of those graduates. I have seen them 2 times and they have great pieces.

South Gibson, Crockett County, Dyer County and Obion will all battle to stay away from Dyersburg. But I will say this. Dyersburg better not overlook Crockett or South Gibson. They both can play on given nights.

how am i making stuff up you are the one who said bartlett scored 73 on dyersburg so you are comparing what one school did to another and comparing that game to see how good another team is all i said .

Just said GC defense is legit. Dyersburg is  loaded and they scored 73 on  them. But that don't mean we are better than Dyersburg. More to the game than defense. But GC holding Bartlett to 40 is impressive. Bartlett will be in Murfreesboro. They are loaded too and will be a handful.

Win region & you don’t have to worry about them lol. Loser of the region will have a problem! CW definitely have one of the best hostile environments in high school basketball.

Whoever has to go up there better hope their local refs don't call the game.

  17. 1 hour ago, ball21 said:

so your saying gibson county would hold dyersburg to 30 points and that crockett co is better than bartlett because they beat gibson county last night because gibson county  beat bartlett already this year

I agreed with his rankings. I just said GC had a good defense. Dyersburg probably wins AAA. They are loaded. Never know how these games are going to turn out. Crockett County is a good team. We got beat fair and square. We needed to get beat. Hopefully they learn from it because Westview and Peabody will be tough for sure.

We scrimmaged Pickett in the preseason and went to the wire with them.  I told my girls if we're gonna make school history then this is the year to do it.  When Cloudland plays their best I believe they're one of the top 5 teams and have a possibility of playing in the championship game.  I did not think north greene would be as good as they are after losing 4 seniors but they have some wins that have raised my eyebrows.  I don't believe region 2 is on our level. Sunbright included

I always told mine to always dream big and yes dreams do come true sometimes. Got to play every possesion like it is your last and see what happens. Single A is wide open for sure.

  19. 5 hours ago, ball21 said:

you can't judge a team by who beat who for example Bartlett beat Dyersburg then Bartlett lost to Gibson County then Trenton played Gibson County close then Dyersburg beat Trenton 29

I agree with you. I think the state all the way around this year will be maybe the most competitive in a while.

1A is as weak as I have seen it in a long time.  I have seen Wayne Co, McKenzie, Greenfield, South Fulton and Moore County play.  Wayne Co would be the favorite with McKenzie and Moore Co a toss up game.  South Fulton just below those two.  Greenfield is not very good even when healthy.  Normally I wouldnt think two players could win the state but since 1A is weak I would say Mckenzie has a good shot.  Davis is as good as I have seen come through West TN.   I believe only two of Wayne Co, Mck and Moore County can get to the state since they go through each other.

Reason I bring up Greenfield is they have the Alford girl who is a scoring machine on the bench and a couple of others all hurt. They will be better when healthy. Mckenzie has Reynolds and Davis who are flat out awesome but can the other three handle ball pressure?? Big drop off after those two or it was this summer anyway. Wayne County is pretty good but are not dominant by any stretch. Wouldn't suprise me if a Pickett County or somebody across the river made a good run. It is weak. AAA is pretty weak too. AA is flat out loaded.

Sunbright Tigers girls team looks almost unbeatable.

I think Single A it is wide open. Wayne County, Mckenzie, Cloudland, Pickett County maybe Clarkrange, maybe South Fulton, maybe Greenfield when healthy, maybe Moore County....Lot of maybes and I may have missed some teams but that is a lot of your competetition.
