Congratulations to Dyersburg. Tough team to beat.

This Hawk will still pull for the W Tenn teams, including the one that we just lost to.

South Side will be loaded next year. Losing no one I don't think. They could have won it this year. Congrats to Dyersburg. Strayhorn is a good guy.

    Who called this upset today?

I don't know but the officials made a real bad call that cost Heritage. Should have been shooting FT's up 1. Instead they called over the back on Heritage when they had the inside position with 7 seconds left. Not a good call. Refs had been doing pretty good all day until that one.

Watching the AA games today....I'm pulling for GC to win it all, but I think that York is the favorite by a slim margin. I think this may have been the strongest AA tournament top to bottom in recent history. Great games. Go Pioneers. Congrats to WV on a great season. With the losses of the seniors from last year and the injuries this year... an impressive return.

4 good AA games today, no blow-outs

will be 2 more good ones tomorrow

Congrats to Westview on a good season. They will be back strong again next year. Three Miss Basketballs candidates all looked great. All AA games were in single digits as we expected. Proud of our girls for sure battling against a really good Huntingdon team. Good luck to all. Great games today.

Day two opens with a monumental matchup of two of the best teams in the entire tournament. I believe McMinn Central lost in overtime to Bradley Central, so you know they are good. They are always good. York has played very tough competition this year, and beaten most of them. If York can break Central’s press, I like their chances, however if Central is able to turn them over and get easy baskets, it may be a long day for the girls from the mountain

Game day. Time to play ball. Lots of good action. All of these teams can get hot and win it. I pray for all these young ladies for safety and guardian angels to protect them. McMinn and York both tough I agree.

It just doesn't make sense in 3A for Chester County to play South Gibson and South Side to play Dyersburg. I get the blind draw and it is what it is but I still think it is trash!  Of course you are right. Doesn't matter who you play, just go win.

I can see where South Side would not be happy because they have had tough draws last three years. Not going to buy South Gibson complaining about their draw.

Are there representatives from each school there?

They have TSSAA Board members that represent schools that know and I would bet someone would cave if they are doing these unfair or plugging in teams. No coaches from schools are there but you think they want to lose money and have 1's and 2's playing each other first round multiple times when championship day they would make $5.00 more a head for these big matchups?? No way they want South Side Upperman or York Westview playing first around after both was in championship in 2022 in last years Tournament. JMO I don't think they just plug teams and play. That cost them money.

    Agree - But if every year was Regions 1 V 5, 2 V 6, 3 V 7, 4 V 8 every year would that help?

No that wouldn't help because who wants to play the Gibson County Region or the Upper Cumberland Region every year?? You think that would be fair?? TSSAA is doing a blind draw like they have been. No way they plug in these matchups. Just unlucky if you're not happy.

I'll be there with a black under armor beanie.  It would be great to meet you

I will be there for sure watching the Single A. What time you getting there?? I will send out a post on this thread where I will be when I get there. Usually there at the top below the pull out bleachers around the railing on the side where the tennis courts are

You know I have no idea how they are doing it to be honest. I would assume it would be blind draw but who knows.

You going to the Tournamnet this year?? I plan on being there tommorow around 2:00 or so.

When I was a coach and we made the state tournament we went up to Murfreesboro for a blind draw. We went into this meeting room. We were all assigned a number on a ping pong ball. They spun it around a few times then started dropping balls out one at a time. Totally blind draw. The only exception was if two district teams made the state they had to be in opposite brackets. Fairest way to do it.

Don't you think that is the way they are doing it now?? You think they wanted York and Westview last year and South Side and Upperman first round?? All four of these teams played in the championship game in 2022 and met first round in 2023?? I doubt that was there plan.

Ditto Summertown vs Clarkrange few years back / it was a war where both team beat each other up

Yep I was there and it was a war. They don't want games like this in the first round. They want these games in game 3 when the ticket prices are higher. South Side Upperman last year, York Westview last year. I think it is just unlucky draws.

I would argue the opposite.  There is nothing unfair about a true blind draw.  Big difference in unlucky versus unfair.

In my opinion, the bigger problem is the lack of transparency.  TSSAA could d a live draw on Sunday before the tournament like they did before COVID.  Even if you just stream to coaches and media, it would eliminate even the possibility of unfairness.

I agree with your post. Unlucky is the correct verbage. Gibson County was undefeated three different years in the late 90's and early 2000's and we drew Livingston Academy 3 years in a row we were up there. Livingston Academy and Gibson County were both ranked top 2 in state. Last year York drew Westview and they were top 2. No way they plug these schools in IMO. Just an unlucky draw. Each school has TSSAA reps as contacts. I always hear it is a draw but they just don't do it live.

Middle college 69-64 over Humboldt in overtime!

Humboldt turned it over probably 30 times. Humboldt down 18 rallies to take a 3 point lead with 10 seconds left. Middle College shoots a corner shot at the buzzer and banks it in. Unbelievable. Game goes into OT and Humboldt couldn't recover.
